Are MLM Opportunities a Good Way to Earn Money?

One question that a lot of people who want to work from home ask is: are MLM opportunities a good way to earn some money on the internet, or are they just overhyped scams? There is no definite answer to this, as some people have built a good income from them, while others hate this form of marketing.

MLM, or multi level marketing, is involves independent distributors reselling products of another company. However, a large aspect of MLM is not simply the sale of products, but recruiting others to be part of the business opportunity. But there are a few issues with the industry that some people may not like. This doesn’t mean that the entire industry is a scam or that it is a bad business model. But there are some issues that you should be aware of before you join any such business opportunity. Here are some of the most common problems that you will face in a lot of MLM businesses.

  • Low quality, overpriced, or “fad” products

Ask yourself this: if the products are so great, how come they aren’t being sold through traditional e-commerce, or at retail stores? You don’t see Coca Cola or Apple running MLM programs now, do you? In a lot of cases, the majority of the money comes from recruiting new participants in the business opportunity. The products are simply there so that the whole thing would not be called a pyramid scheme.

A lot of the time, you will see products that are overpriced and can be found for much less than what you need to sell them for to make a profit. Or they are simply “fad” products, such as the latest hype in weight loss or beauty. Of course, it is possible to make money from a fad (think Acai Berry, merchants and affiliates made MILLIONS from it), but if your entire business is based on that, know that you are running a “temporary business” and not something that will be sustainable for years to come.

  • Reliance on recruiting friends and family into the business

While it is definitely possible to market MLM opportunities online, a lot of companies make people rely on people marketing their offers to friends and family members, telling you that they will be the easiest prospects.

But quite honestly, this is really not the case. Most of them will just not be interested in having a business and if they listen to your speeches or presentations, it is only out of politeness or because they don’t want to get into an argument with you if they say no. Now if you push this kind of marketing too far, you will soon be joining the NFL (no, not the National Football League… but rather the No Friends Left club) and will have people avoid talking to you. After all, if you invite someone for dinner, would you really like them to start handing out marketing materials to your family? Probably not.

How to Keep Your Google Adwords Account Safe

How to Keep Your Google Adwords Account Safe

Now in the past few months, there have been plenty of internet marketers complaining about their Google Adwords accounts being banned. Of course, we’ve explored some alternative PPC services, but there are still many people who prefer to use Adwords for various different reasons. Recent banning of Adwords accounts came as a surprise to many online marketers, many of who have PPC as their main source of revenue and who have spent tens, or even hundreds of thousands of dollars on traffic coming from Adwords. Of course, the lesson would be not to put all of your eggs in the same basket. But how would you prevent having the ban hammer falling on your account? It is actually not that hard. Here are some ways:

  • Obey the terms of service and any information on the Google Adwords website

If you don’t do this, you will get banned. Maybe not right away, but you probably will. Familiarize yourself about what is, and what is not allowed on Adwords. The excuse of “I didn’t know it was against the rules” will probably not work.

  • Don’t use fake review sites, or fake blogs commonly known as “flogs”

These types of sites are quite popular with re bill offers, in the weight loss and make money online niches. While we will not get into a debate about the ethics of the offers and ways of promoting them, the main issue important for you is not to use fake review sites with Adwords. Google doesn’t like them and will probably ban you if you use them on their network. And no, including a “disclaimer” in gray 5 point type at the bottom of the page saying “The reviews, testimonials and people appearing on this site are fake, this is just an ad meant to sell stuff to you” will not protect you. Some have tried and in the best case they were told to stop running this campaign. In the worst case they were issued a life time ban from Adwords.

  • Be careful about which kinds of affiliate offers you promote

Google has recently starting coming down on pretty much any rebill offer, mainly because of the flurry of complaints about people not knowing they would get charged, or the actual terms of the offer being obscured and hard to read. Recently, Google has started banning all those who “ride on their coat tails” by promoting re bill offers in the make money online niche which make use of their name or logo. All of these “Google pays me $100 an hour!” types of sites are now banned. If you want to run such campaigns, you need to do so elsewhere. Obviously, the response from Google could be quite well understood, as these sites create a false impression of association with them. Google has also stated that sites which make “unrealistic promises”, such as “make $10 000 a week sitting at home!” or “lose 25 lbs a day!” are not allowed.

Monetize Your Site With Adsense

Monetize Your Site With Adsense

If you have been in the internet marketing scene for more than 5 minutes, chances are that you have heard of Google Adsense. The way this program works is that you let Google serve ads on your site that are related to its content and get paid a certain amount whenever someone clicks on the ad and is redirected to the advertisers website. The amount will vary depending on what topic your site is about, as certain keywords fetch a higher amount than others.

While it is true that there are some webmasters who have become very successful with the Adsense program, some even becoming millionaires, most webmasters struggle to make just a few pennies a day with it and wonder what is wrong. In many cases it is not a lack of traffic to your site that is the problem, but rather the niche that your site is about.

As the prices of Adsense clicks will vary depending on which niche you target, in order to make the most money possible you will need to target niches that are high paying. These are the markets where advertisers are willing to pay more money per click. Naturally, you will need to find out what these niches are before you build a website related to them.

Anything that deals with finances, such as student loans, credit cards, refinancing and debt consolidation tends to fetch a lot of money per click. There are many other topics as well, such as health, diets and weight loss that pay quite well too.

Now the question is, how do you research your niches in order to find one that is truly high paying? There are many free tools that let you analyze pay per click keywords available online. One of the most popular ones is called SpyFu. It will give you an approximate amount of how much advertisers are currently paying for each click for certain keywords. Note that this is not the same amount that you will be getting per click in your Adsense account. Google splits the profit with you, but the exact amount that they keep and the price that they pay you as a publisher for each click will vary and are not published on their site. That being said, you can expect to receive slightly below 50% of the click price. In addition to SpyFu, you can use Google’s own Adwords Keyword tool in order to see how much advertisers will pay per click on average for a certain specific keyword.

While it may take you some time to build some sites around profitable niches and add good content that will attract visitors, the results will be well worth it, as your revenue will begin to increase much faster than with many of the low-paying keywords. Remember that your site will need unique and useful content and not just random spam in order for you to make the most profit out of the Google Adsense program.

Use Keywords Effectively

Use Keywords Effectively

Keywords are the words and phrases people use when searching for information on any given topic. For example, if you’re looking for information about weight loss, you might search for something along the lines of “lose weight fast”. In that scenario, “lose weight fast” is a set of keywords relevant to weight loss. By understanding keywords, and doing the right things with them, you can make your site more SEO friendly in no time.

When building your website, you want to try to capitalize on the most popular keywords relevant to your niche. Make sure the title tags, and meta tags in your code include keywords relevant to your site. it’s also extremely important to have keyword rich text on your site.l You don’t want to make your content seem poorly written, but you do want to work in as many keywords as possible. Don’t let it get in the way of the quality of your content, but try to replace pronouns with proper nouns related to your niche whenever you can.

Search engines weight the first 250 words found on a page more heavily than the rest of that page, so it’s extremely important to make your first few paragraphs as focused as possible. Stay on topic, and include as many keywords as you can.Again, don’t make the content hard to read for your visitors, but make it as keyword rich as you can without hurting your site’s usability.

Keywords that consist of one word, or a short phrase tend to be very competitive. While it’s a good idea to take advantage of those keywords, don’t ignore longer terms completely. The longer the keyword, the less likely it is to be over saturated. If you can find a longer search term relevant to your niche that isn’t flooded with search results, take advantage of it as best you can. It’s better to show up in the top five search results for a longer search term that gets 500 searches a day than it is to show up six pages deep in the search results for a short term that gets 5,000 searches a day.

Keep keywords in mind as you develop your website, and your marketing strategy, and you’ll see some significant results over time. As your search rank goes up, so will your traffic. At the end of the day, that’s what makes the internet go ’round.
