Promoting Your Membership Site: Using Forums

Now that you have learned about what is necessary to run a membership site that you created, you now need to figure out how you will get members to join. Obviously, this means putting the message out there. People will not just magically type in the URL of your site in the address bar and join. There are a couple of methods that you can employ in order to gain members to your site. Each have their unique advantages, so it is a good thing for you to review all of them before you make your decision as to how you will promote it.

Here are some promotional methods:

  • IM Forums

This is perhaps the best way to promote a membership site, as you will be showing your message to people who are already interested in learning about internet marketing and online money making techniques. The traffic is already there, all you would need to do is to get their attention and to convince them that your membership site is worth joining.

This can be done through various means. When a member of an internet marketing forum sees that a new membership site is being created, the first thing they will want to know if WHO created it. People who frequent IM forums have generally seen plenty of “make money online” products and are more likely to be skeptical than someone who is completely new to the industry and does not frequent any IM related communities online. In order to get better results, it would be good that you would be a reputed member of the forum where you are promoting your new site. This means having been on the forum for at least a few months and have made a decent number of contributions that are both useful as well as informative. Also, it helps if you get along well with other members and do not constantly get into flame wars with others. When a reputed member of an IM forum advertises their site, he is more likely to be taken seriously and listened to than a newbie with 4 posts that just joined yesterday.

It also helps to make some friends in the internet marketing community. This way, you will have some people who would be willing to review your site and vouch for its credibility in front of other members. If several well respected members of the forum say that a site is useful, then people are once again more likely to believe them.

Promoting via forums is simple and the exact steps to take depend on which forum you are in. All the big IM forums have a “Products for Sale” section. Some allow you to put a link to your site in your forum signature, while others will even let you purchase banner ad space on the forum that can be used for the purposes of promoting your website. This may cost a bit of money, but will attract much more attention to your offer.

Advertising Options Overview – Video Marketing

Advertising Options Overview – Video Marketing

When you are promoting any type of product or service online, advertising is obviously a must. After all, you need to get people to your offer if you want to see profits accumulating in your account. With so many ways to advertise online out there, it is normal to sometimes get lost and confused as to which method you should truly implement.

Many people also ask which one is the “best” method to advertise on the internet. In reality, there is no clear winner out there. Each method has its own unique advantages and drawbacks. So it truly is in your best interest to learn about all the advertising methods out there and to pick one that you will find the most appropriate. Remember that knowledge is power! Let’s take a look at some of these methods:

Video Marketing.

This consists of uploading short videos to popular video sharing sites such as YouTube and including your website‘s URL in the video itself or in the description. Its main advantage is that it is free, it costs nothing for you to upload your video. You also have the potential of receiving thousands of views to your video, as sites such as YouTube have a very large user base and receive millions of hits from around the world every day.

When creating your video, don’t make it look too much like an advertisement. People watch online videos for two main reasons: to be entertained or to acquire information/knowledge. Very few people will want to watch commercials.

There are two main types of videos you can create: either a review of a specific product that you are promoting or an informational video related to your niche.

A review will basically consist of someone talking about how the product that you are promoting works and why the viewer needs it. You can either record it yourself, or outsource it and have someone else record themselves doing a video review of it.

An informational video will not be based directly on the product that you are promoting, but will rather give some general advice related to your niche. For example, if you are promoting a dog training guide on Clickbank, you might want to make a video of yourself teaching a dog on how to be obedient. You could also include a short mention at the end of the products that you would recommend for someone to use in order to train their dog.

Remember to make the videos as interesting and captivating for the viewers as possible. This will help your video become more popular and will also increase the clickthroughs to your affiliate link significantly. Success with video marketing is a gradual thing. You would need to hone your skills by uploading a few videos and see what works best for you. Don’t just post up a video on YouTube and expect thousands of visitors to come flocking to your site overnight, because chances are it simply won’t happen that way.

Generate Buzz For Your New Website

Generate Buzz For Your New Website

So you just launched a new website, and you want to generate some positive attention for it. Generating buzz or hype isn’t as hard as you might think. You just have to follow a few simple steps, and you’ll be on your way in no time.

Start off by using social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook to talk about your site. Don’t just talk about the site using your social networking accounts, but encourage your friends and family to talk about it on their own. In order to generate buzz, the positive attention your site is getting on social networks has to appear natural. If other users suspect that you’re just trying to generate hype for your site, then you will actually achieve the opposite effect of damaging your site’s reputation. Try to get a group of your friends and family together that can start spreading the word about your site for you. As they talk about it, their friends will go to your site. Some of those friends will talk about it too, and slowly, but surely, you’ll begin to build some buzz around your site.

Consider volunteering some of your services to another website. If, for example, you have launched a site about technology, consider doing a guest spot writing for another tech website. This will give you the chance to introduce yourself to another audience, and get them excited about your site.

Don’t underestimate the power of physical items. Get some T-shirts, pens, and buttons made up with your site’s information on them. Hand these items out generously, and give some to your friends and family to do the same with. As these items spread, so too will your site.

Give out your business card whenever you can. If you’re out to lunch, leave your business card on the table along with the tip. If you see a bulletin board at the grocery store, pin your business card to it. This might seem a little futile, but remember, everyone who sees your URL might visit it. Everyone that visits it might tell a friend.

It’s important to remember that, while these methods can help, the amount of buzz your site generates will be directly related to the content it holds. For example, if you run a plumbing supply website, don’t expect to generate a huge amount of buzz. Plumbing supplies are great when you need them, but on a day to day basis, they’re just not very exciting.  If your content is interesting, and you follow these steps, you’ll start to see buzz for your site in no time.

Picking A Domain Name For Your Niche Blog

Picking A Domain Name For Your Niche Blog

picking a domain nameWhen you have decided what you are going to blog about then the next step is to pick your domain name.  I recommend you pick a domain name that will have your main keyword in the URL.  A keyword is the word that is searched on Google everyday by users that will hopefully get directed to your blog.

To research what keywords are searched on a monthly basis on Google I recommend the following free tool:

https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

As an example I am going to target the keyword “LCD Tvs” in this guide

You will then be shown a list of the commonly used keywords used in that niche, with the Global monthly search volume is the amount of times a month that keyword is searched on Google worldwide and the local search volume is the country your in.  On the “Match Type” box on the right select “Phrase” and this will highlight the keyword phrase with “commas”.  Now what you want to do is go to Google.com and see what competition there is for this keyword.  What you want to do is find a keyword that has less then 50,000 competing websites because the less competition for that keyword the more likely you will rank on page 1 for that keyword.

For example go to Google and do the following with your chosen keyword (The keyword I chose from my list was “best flat screen tv” which has a monthly search volume of 9,900) making sure to put the quote marks around your keyword.

Now once you have chosen the keyword you want to target, next is to search online to see if there is a domain available that has your main keyword within the domain name.

The ideal domain extensions you want are

  1. First option for .com if its available
  2. 2nd option if .com is taken is .org
  3. 3rd option if both .com and .org are taken then get .net

If all 3 extensions are taken then what you can do is add something to the end of the domain for example:

www.bestflatscreentvonline.com

www.bestflatscreentvworld.com

www.bestflatscreentvinfo.com

etc..

Make sure you don’t have any dashes (-) in your domain name and make sure your keyword starts at the beginning.
