Establishing Your Blog as an Authority in Your Niche

If you want your blog to become popular, you may have heard that it would need to become an authority in its niche. Many bloggers and online marketers wonder how this could be accomplished. The steps to take are relatively straightforward, however they will take time to complete fully. Here’s what you can do to put your blog on the road to being a respected site in its niche:

  • Create Quality Content for Your Blog

There’s really no way around this one. Your blog, in order to be viewed as an authority and respected by both readers and search engines, must have something interesting for the readers in it. This means that the content must be original and likely to appeal to your audience. Don’t just repeat what others have said, especially if you post on topics such as news. If you post about something that’s been in the news lately, for example the controversy surrounding the SOPA act in the United States at the moment, users will want to read something original about it and not just a rewrite of what the major press outlets have said. Add information from different sources. Add your own opinion, as well as the opinions of others. Include graphics, images and videos when it becomes necessary.

  • Participate in Niche Communities

Discussion forums, other blogs, social media pages, etc. are all great places where you can get some exposure for your blog. Include a link to your blog in your profile. Include a link to your blog in your forum signature. Share your blog posts with others when others whenever possible. People who are already interested in your niche are more likely to visit your blog and follow it if they find the content to be useful and interesting to them.

  • Make References to Previous Blog Posts and Link to Other Posts as Well

Make references to other posts in your blog when appropriate. This will increase readership of your other blog pages with your visitors and can also have some very good benefits when it comes to search engine optimization. Readers are more likely to come back to your blog if they find that it provides a complete explanation of the topics covered by having links to posts that are related to the current one that they’re reading.

Linking to and referencing other blogs is also recommended. While it may seem counter productive to send traffic to other websites without making any direct profit from it, remember that this is a blog and not a landing page for a product that you’re selling. In the blogging community, it is frequent for bloggers to link, quote and reference contents on other blogs and websites. It all comes down to sharing. Other blog owners frequently look at where their traffic is coming from and they’re likely to check out your blog too. This will give you opportunities to have your content shared and possibly even get you links on blogs and related niche websites too.

Ways To Get More Backlinks For Your Site

Ways To Get More Backlinks For Your Site

You aren’t required to be a SEO expert to understand the fact that in order for your website to go up in rankings on Google, you will need to have lots of quality backlinks. These are essential for anyone who is trying to get more traffic through organic search results. While building enough backlinks to have an effect on your traffic can take some work and requires patience on your part, the results will be well worth it. A question that is often asked in webmaster and internet marketing communities is how to get more backlinks for your site. There are many places that you can get backlinks to your site. Here are a few examples:

Article directories

These are sites where you submit an article that is related to your niche. Depending on the rules of the article directory, you can either include links inside the body of your article, or in a signature box at the end. This will help you get traffic in two ways. You will create backlinks to your site and will get some traffic from people who read the article and then click through to your site. Search engines hold article directories in high regard, so they are an essential tool for you to use in your search engine optimization efforts.

Blog comments

On many niche blogs, you can leave a comment after reading a post and include a link to your website. It is important, however that you do not simply spam comments and actually write something useful. Also, make sure that the blog you are commenting on is related to your niche to give you the maximum quality backlinks.

Classified ads sites

Here again, you can get traffic in two ways. Either from the increase in search engine ranking due to your backlinking efforts, or from the people who will see your ad and click on to your site. Not all classifieds sites allow you to insert links in your ads, so check beforehand. Some let you post a link if you pay a small fee.

Video sharing sites

These are places such as YouTube and Dailymotion, where you upload videos for other viewers to watch. Creating your own videos and uploading them is a great way to get traffic from video sharing sites. But a fact that a lot of people forget is that you can also make use of these sites in order to get backlinks as well. Many sites allow you to place a link back to your sites in various places, such as on your profile, in the description of videos that you upload, as well as in comments on other people’s videos.

Remember, backlink building is an activity that will boost your traffic, but it has to be done gradually to have the best results. If done correctly, you will soon notice that your site is increasing in position in search results for your desired keyword and that you are getting more visitors from search engines.

An Intro To Article Marketing

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

An Intro To Article Marketing

In the online marketing world there are various ways to draw traffic to your website and therefore earn money by promoting products or services. These could be your own creation or various kinds of affiliate offers that you could be running. Article marketing is one of these methods. What exactly does it consist of? Let’s have an overview:

Simply put, article marketing makes you use articles that are related to the niche of whatever you want to promote in order to get traffic to your website. For example if you are promoting a fax to email solution you could write about the advantages of using such a service. They could also be in the form of a review about a certain product or service. Basically, the content will need to make the user want to buy what you are promoting without sounding too much like an advertisement.

Now where do you post these articles? The most common places used by internet marketers to put up their articles are article directories such as Ezinearticles and GoArticles. They have the advantage of receiving a lot of traffic every day and are ranked very high up in search engines such as Google. You could also post them on blogs or other sites which allow users to submit content.

How do articles actually get you traffic? There are two ways actually. The first one is through the links which are found in your article. Depending on where you post them you would be allowed to either insert links in the body of your article or in your signature (also called a resource box). A reader who is interested in finding out more about what you’re talking about can click on the link and then proceed to your website.

Articles can also be used for search engine optimization (SEO) purposes. By submitting your articles to high authority websites that are related to your niche and using the keyword that you want to target as your anchor text, you will get some great backlinks to your site. This could increase the position of your site on search engines. Note that building backlinks and doing search engine optimization through article marketing is a process which takes time. Unlike pay per click ads or email marketing, the results will not appear instantly. However it can be well worth it in the end.

Anyone who wants to give article marketing a try will need to know that it is a marketing method that will require some patience and dedication. You will need to write several unique articles and post them online. The traffic will start coming in slowly as more visitors start seeing your articles. But it does have the advantage of being one of the cheapest advertising methods there is. After all, it costs nothing to write the articles and submit them. It simply takes some time. This makes it a perfect solution if you don’t have much of a budget for online advertising.

Facebook Advertising

Facebook Advertising

If you were looking into internet marketing ideas on how to promote your online business, you may have heard about social media advertising and was wondering about how you can use it to your advantage.

Advertising on social media simply means to drive traffic your site by using social networks such as Facebook. When you think of a social network, you would probably associate it with a place where people come to socialize and exchange information with friends, associates and family members. It is true that this is the main reason why social networks exist, but there are ways that you can use them for marketing.

One thing that you will get by advertising on Facebook is a great amount of exposure. Every single day there are literally millions of people which sign on to that site. While they may not exactly be in buying mode when they visit Facebook, they could nonetheless be interested in what you have to offer if you just had the chance to present it in front of their eyes.

There are two main ways to advertise on Facebook. The first one consists of creating a fan page for your business. This is essentially a page where you get to put in some details about what you do, insert a few pictures such as your logo or photos of your products if you are selling physical goods, some contact details and a link back to your website.

You would then make efforts to get as many fans as possible to like your page. This can be accomplished by various means, such as asking your existing customers to become a fan of yours or having a link to your Facebook fan page on your main website, putting the link in your forum signature, inserting it into blog posts, etc.

A great thing about the fan page is that it has the potential of going viral. When a Facebook user becomes a fan of something, this will be added onto their profile. When their friends see their profile, they will then be able to click through to your fan page. From there, they could continue on to your website if they are interested or even become fans themselves. If you have a very unique or interesting offering, you could get many new customers as more and more people will become your fans.

Another way to advertise on Facebook is to make use of the Facebook ads platform. It is based on a Cost Per Click model similar to Google Adwords. You create a small ad and insert a small icon related to what you are offering. What is good about Facebook ads is the fact that you can target who sees your ads by selecting a few different variables. You can target people by age, country, city, relationship status, etc. This lets you ensure that only the people who would be more likely to buy from you will get served with your ad and be able to click on it.

Using Forums to Market Your Website

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Using Forums to Market Your Website

Using a forum to market and monetize your website is a great idea. There are two different ways you can do this, one is by marketing on other people’s forums, and the second is to create your own forum.

Forums are a great way to market to a very specific area. Sure, you sometimes see a forum that is about general topics, but mostly the topics discussed are very narrow minded (in a good way). For example, there are massive forums on cycling, soccer, social networking, making money online, or knitting.

There is really no limit of what a forum can be about, if there are passionate and interested people about a subject, they will most likely find their way to a forum to discuss the topics.

Using Other People’s Forums
The easiest and cheapest way to market your website via forums is to use someone else’s already established forum. This way, the cost of entry is much lower, in both monetary and time terms. All you need to do is register on the forum, read the rules, put your website in your signature with a catchy phrase that will entice people to click on it, then start posting on the forum. It is important to engage in conversation, rather than spamming the established members already (they will not take kindly to that). Engaging and holding an intelligent conversation is essential here, because this is the first time your potential visitors will ever see what you have to say. Make sure you add value to the forum and post several times a day or week in order to maximize your results.

Creating Your Own Forums
Another way you can use forums is to create your own forum to allow your followers to engage with you and one another. This will help create a sense of community around your site, especially if you are already getting comments. The problem with this method is that you need to have viewers already to leverage them into becoming forum members. This is usually one of the later aspects of a website to come along, simply for that reason. But once you do have established readers, it could be a great way to promote your topics, engage in conversation, and even get new ideas for content and products.

Drive More Traffic To Your Site

Drive More Traffic To Your Site

In order for a website to be profitable, it needs visitors. The more people that see your site, the more products you’ll sell, and your ads will get clicked more frequently. There are a number of ways to bring in more traffic to your site. Let’s take a look at a few of the more effective ones.

PPC Advertising

PPC (pay per click) advertising is a great way to drive traffic to your website. Use a service like Google Adwords to create some ads, and get them out to your audience. If you’re going to go this route, it’s important to set a budget for your ads. You don’t want to spend more on advertising than you’re going make. For example, if you spend $10 per day on advertising, you should be bringing in at least that much from sales, or ad revenue.

Article Marketing

Article directories can be a great source of traffic. Just find one that represents your niche well, write a few 300 – 500 word articles every week, and post them to whatever article directories you like. Include a link to your site in each article, and over time, you’ll begin to see a solid amount of traffic coming into your site from your article marketing efforts.

Social Networking

You probably know a lot of people with Facebook and Twitter accounts. That’s because a lot of people in every demographic imaginable are using those services. Facebook alone has over 500 million users, and some of them are bound to be a part of your target audience, so setting up a Facebook page for your website is a good idea.

Spread The Word

Put a link to your site in your profile on any sites you visit frequently. If you comment on a popular blog a lot, make sure your account is linked to your site. If you post on forums a lot, make sure your site is listed in you signature. Everything you can do to spread the word about your site will help to bring in more traffic.

Each method listed above for driving traffic is simple, and effective. Aside from PPC advertising, they’re all free too. You can bring in more traffic to your site quickly, and for very little money if you know the right methods to use.

Get More Incoming Links

Get More Incoming Links

The ultimate goal of any website is to get traffic. Success online rides completely on how much traffic your site gets. The more people that see your site, the better off you are. Each new visitor means a potential sale, or a potential click on one of your ads. One of the most important sources of traffic for any website is incoming links from other sites. There are a few important things you can keep in mind in order to get more incoming links to your site.

Getting other people to link to you is all about high quality content. No other tip for getting incoming links will do you any good if your content isn’t appealing to your readers. Try to think about your readers, and what sort of problems and questions they might have. Each article you write for your site should aim to solve a problem, or answer a question for your readers. If you’re helping them with a problem, they’ll be excited about your content, and they’ll be more inclined to share it with a friend.

Once you have some high quality content in place, it’s time to start getting the word out about it. Start by sharing the content with your Facebook fans, and Twitter followers. Once you’ve done that, think about all of the sites you visit on a daily basis. If you’re on any forums regularly, be sure to put your link in your signature. If you comment frequently on any blogs, make sure to fill out the “website” section of your profile. Once you are putting your content out there, it’s only a matter of time before other sites start picking it up.

If you have been putting your content out there, but you don’t feel like it’s catching on as quickly as it should, take a few minutes, and politely email the owners and editors of any large sites in your niche. Let them know about your content, and ask, again, politely, if they’d share it with their readers. They won’t all say yes, and that’s OK. If just one site larger than your own posts your link, it was worth your time.

Once you have a few links out there, the rest will basically take care of itself. As more and more people see your content, they’ll share it with their friends. As word gets around, other sites in your niche will start to talk about your content, even if you didn’t directly ask them to. Just remember, none of this matters if you don’t start with high quality content. That’s the real key to getting more incoming links.

Using Forums to Market Your Website

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Using Forums to Market Your Website

Online forums are sometimes overlooked as a means to market your product or website to a large audience, but in reality, forums are still alive and thriving no matter the newest social network which comes along.

The reason forums are still a mainstay online is that they are very niche offerings. Sure, you can go to Twitter to talk about internet marketing, but 1/2 your audience might not care. On a forum dedicated to Internet Marketing such as Warrior Forum, everyone there is there to work on their internet marketing business or to learn more about internet marketing. Social networks are great for a broad market, but to get very targeted “social” interaction a forum still remains the top choice. You see the difference?

One of the main ways to use forums as a marketing tool for your website is to use the signature allowed in your posts that you create. This signature which usually can allow links (and usually dofollow links) will allow you to create numerous backlinks to your website. The more you post, the more times your link appears on different pages of the website. This is good for two reasons mainly, 1) that your link will gather you some Google “juice” (aka backlinks) and 2) that your fellow forum members might happen to click on it.

The two are very different, one is traffic for the future and the other is traffic now. It is very important however, to make sure you are providing relevant content and not spam. Forum members hate when new members come into their forum and start spamming comments that are generic or add no value to the conversation. Much like a social network such as Twitter. Make sure, for your future readers sake and your reputations sake, that you do not come off as spammy, that you promote your site in a respectable way and that you provide some sort of value to the other forum members.

Another minor way, but another way that might be important are forums with “websites” in their profiles. So when you are signing up and a forum asks for your personal website, put your product website there that you want to promote. That will provide you with one backlink at least for your effort, better than nothing, right?

Good luck and don’t be a bad forum member – make sure you follow the rules and add value to the conversation.

Build a Successful Blog

Building a successful blog isn’t easy. It takes a ton of work, long hours promoting, writing, submitting to directories, and doing other mundane tasks.

But, luckily building a successful blog is possible. There are so many niches that need a top site still, and the field is wide open. Maybe you are an expert pottery maker, photographer, or management consultant. There are numerous people each day looking for content on your topic avidly online and you can be the site that they come to.

Content
Writing good content is really important to having a successful blog. Content should be aimed at readability for your visitors, but also for search engine optimization.

It takes a delicate balance between writing for the search engines and for your users.

The best way I can suggest to do it is to use keywords as part of sentences only when you need it. For example, if I have a website about chocolate pancakes, I do not need to include that in every sentence or even every other sentence. However, I can use the keyword in the opening sentence or as part of a sentence when needed. The other thing you can do is add your keyword to your content using h2 title tags within the content. You can have your opening sentence or “thesis” at the start of your paragraph even with your keyword in it, as a way to draw attention to your main idea for your reader, and to improve your search engine optimization (SEO) rank.

Marketing
Marketing your blog can be a chore unless you want to do it the right way. Marketing can be a lot of fun — visiting your favorite blogs on your specific niche can be a great way to market your blog through commenting on their recent posts. Engaging with top bloggers can get your name out there and get people to follow your blog when you write engaging comments and participate in discussion.

Another marketing method is to join forums that are related to your niche. Promote your blog lightly, through your forum signature only — or else you will just seem like a spammer.

Start slow building your blog and relationships with your readers. Find and engage your audience, promote it through social media, bookmarking and forums and take your time to build it, it will not come over night so be patient.
