Social Bookmarking And Affiliate Marketing

If you’re at all familiar with online marketing, you probably know something about social bookmarking. For those not in the know, social bookmarking sites allow you to post links, and share them with other users. Most social bookmarking sises have a rating system in place where users can choose to vote a link up or down. If a link gets voted up enough, it gets featured on the site’s homepage. Now that you have a understanding of what social bookmarking is, you’re probably wondering exactly what it can do for you as an affiliate marketer.

The number one benefit social bookmarking can have for an affiliate marketer is that it can help you raise your search rank. Social bookmarking sites are among the most popular sites on the internet, and just having a link present on a social bookmarking site can help your site become more visible to search engines. Search engines determine a page’s value by looking at a variety of factors, one of which is the quality of sites that link to it. Social bookmarking sites have a high value  to search engines, so having a social bookmarking site link into your site will help to raise your search rank. When you’re running an affiliate website, it’s important to have a high search rank. Most of your traffic is going to come from search engines, and as such, using social bookmarking sites to boost your search rank is highly beneficial.

In addition to boosting your search rank, social bookmarking sites can also bring in a fair amount of traffic to your site. If you have a link on a social bookmarking site that gets popular, and makes it’s way to the homepage, it’s a safe bet that you’ll get a great deal of traffic to that link. It’s tough to get pages on affiliate sites to become popular on social bookmarking sites, but if your content is either extremely informative, or entertaining, it can definitely happen.

Social bookmarking sites can bring two of the most important things to your affiliate site: traffic, and a higher search rank. As your search rank goes up, so too will your traffic. As your traffic goes up, so to will your profits.Be sure to use good anchor text in your social bookmarking links, and you’ll see results in no time.

Designing An SEO Friendly Site

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Designing An SEO Friendly Site

We’ve talked a little about what SEO is and how you can use it in a broad sense to generate traffic for your site. Now we’re going to get into the finer details of optimizing a website for search.

Don’t make your site more complicated than it needs to be. Flash apps, podcasts, and videos might look nice, and feel fancy, but search engines can’t index the information in them. If you’re going to include those things on your site, be sure to use text to reiterate the information in your media files. Search engines can’t hear your podcast, or watch your videos, so it’s very important that the information in them be converted to test, and placed on your site. We’re not suggesting that you transcribe your entire podcast, but rather that you write a couple paragraphs detailing what’s covered in the podcast.

It’s also important to provide a well organized navigation system on your site. Consider adding a nav bar just under the header that includes links to all the major sections of your site. If your site is broken down into a lot of subsections, add a drop down menu for each section that shows all of its subsections. You should also add a sitemap to your website. Not only does it make it easy for your visitors to find what they’re looking for,  but it also makes it easier for search engines to index your site.

Be careful about the quality and quantity of links on your site. If you have more than 50 links on any given page, you may be damaging your search rank. Also, keep an eye out for broken links on your site. From time to time, a page on another site will get deleted, or moved. If you have a link leading to content that isn’t there anymore, it reflects poorly on your site. There are a lot of free link checkers out there that will browse your site, and give you a report on the status of your links. If you’re using Wordpress, there are several highly effective plugins available to help you avoid broken links.

The most important thing of all is to have good, original content on your site. Your content should be keyword rich, and each page should be completely original. If you have two pages with near identical content on your site, search engines will view them as duplicate content, and your search rank will be damaged because of it.

By keeping a well organized site with a lot of quality content, you can boost your search rank significantly. Keep your links up to date, and make sure there’s some text to go with your media, and your site will climb it’s way to the top of any major search engine in no time.

Use Article Marketing To Your Advantage

Use Article Marketing To Your Advantage

Making money by using article marketing can be a little tricky, but under the right circumstances, it can also be very profitable. Before you jump into article marketing, take a minute and think about what you’re marketing, and what you want to get out of article marketing. Do you have a website of your own? Do you sell products of your own? Are you relying on affiliate programs to generate income?

If you’re starting with a clean slate, the very first thing you should do is set up a website. If you produce a product of any sort, an site dedicated to that product will do just fine. If not, consider launching a blog, or other informative site that you can post affiliate links on. Whatever you decide to do with your website, make sure it has the potential to generate income. After all, what’s the point of marketing your site if it can’t bring in any profit?

Now that you know what you’re marketing, it’s time to start writing some articles. Sites like Ezine Articles let you post articles on a variety of different topics. Each article you post can be an indirect advertisement for you, your website, and any products or services you might offer. It’s important to keep that in mind as you write your articles. Each article should contain a link to your site. That’s pretty obvious. What might not be so obvious, is that each article should also be SEO friendly. Your article (and by proxy, your site) will get some attention from regular visitors to the article directory you submitted your work to, but a good portion of your traffic is going to come from search engines. Remember to use keywords in the title of the article whenever possible, and the body of the article should be keyword rich.

Having an SEO friendly article on an article directory like Ezine Articles can help you in a few different ways. If the article itself is SEO friendly, more people will find it, and some of  those people will click through to your site. Sites like Ezine Articles have bene around for a while, and as such, they have a fairly high volume of traffic, and they also tend to come up high in search all on their own. By having a site like that linking to your site, you’re increasing your own search rank.

By writing SEO friendly articles on article directories, and linking them back to your own site, you can bring in some traffic, and boost your search rank all in one shot. At the end of the day, more traffic leads to more revenue, and that’s never a bad thing.

SEO VS SEM

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

SEO VS SEM

If you’re reading this site, you’re probably at least familiar with the terms SEO and SEM, but do you know the difference between the two? Let’s take a look at the two, and what circumstances you should be using each under.

SEO, or Search Engine Optimization is the process of organizing the content on your site, and tweaking the site itself so that it will appear higher up in search results. There are two basic steps to making a site SEO friendly. The first is to optimize the site itself by using the right keywords in the site’s code, and the site’s copy. Make sure the title of each page is relevant to the topic discussed on that page, and that the copy contains keywords relevant to the topic at hand. You should also be sure to give your images descriptive names, and take the time to fill out the alt tag for each image. Once your site is optimized, be sure to update it on a regular basis with relevant content. Search engines look at how often a site is updated, and how long it’s been since the last update when determining where that site shows up in search. Try to update your site with interesting, or entertaining content. The more incoming links you have, the better your search rank. The more entertaining the content on your site is, the more incoming links you’ll get.

SEM, or Search Engine Marketing is the “buy your way to the top” strategy. By buying pay per click ads on a search engine, you’re ensuring that a link to your site will show up in the “sponsored links” section of the search results, which usually appears at the top of the page. It’s important to do some keyword research before diving into SEM. Broad terms, like science tend to be very crowded, and as such, you will have to pay a higher CPC (cost per click) to get your ad to appear more often. By picking a more specific term to place your ad on, you can lower the amount of competition, and consequently, the CPC you’ll need to pay.

Now that you know how they work separately, it’s time to put the two strategies together. When you first launch a site, it’s a good idea to invest some money in SEM. A brand new site, even an SEO friendly one, probably isn’t going to show up on the first page of search results for your keyword of choice right away. By spending some money on SEM, you can ensure your site will receive traffic until the benefits of SEO kick in. By using the two together like this, you can get steady traffic to your site from day one.

Selling A Niche Product

Selling A Niche Product

Selling niche products to a specifically targeted audience can be a great way to generate revenue. Niche-specific products often carry higher than usual payouts when you advertise them on your site, therefore, if you can generate enough interest in your site from the right audience, you stand to make a lot of money. There are a few things to keep in mind before you decide to sell niche products.

The first thing you need to do is determine your audience. If you already have a website or a blog, you probably already have a good idea of who’s reading it. Consider your audience, and what products they would be interested in, and then find an affiliate program that suits your needs. Try to pick products that appeal specifically to your audience. If you run a site about gardening, look into affiliate programs for things like weed whackers, and fertilizer.

If you don’t already run a site, you can still take advantage of niche products, in fact, you’re in the position to pick a niche product that has a high pay out, and build up a marketing strategy around it. You want to pick a niche product or products that have a high pay out and a moderate level of demand, that way you can build a high traffic site around the product. You can create an affiliate website, or a blog, each of which has different benefits and disadvantages. A blog requires a commitment of time on a daily basis, but it allows you to generate a sense of community among your readers, and it can bring people back over and over again over time, and those repeat visitors might just turn out to be repeat shoppers. Affiliate sites require a large chunk of time to set up, but after that you can sit back and let the site do all of the work for you. Make sure to include detailed information in your affiliate site. You should describe the product you’re pushing with keyword rich text to help bring in traffic from search engines.

With the right set of products, and the right target audience, you can bring in a great deal of profits. Make sure to pick a niche that isn’t already saturated, and you’ll see all of your hard work pay off in no time.

Doing The Right Thing With Keywords

Doing The Right Thing With Keywords

It’s no secret that you need to figure out what keywords apply to your content in order to create an SEO friendly website. The challenge comes in figuring out exactly what to do with your keywords. We’re going to show you a few uses for keywords that will help you create a SEO friendly website.

The first (and one of the most important) place you should be using keywords is in your title. If you’re using a CMS like Wordpress, you should try to use as many keywords as you can in the title of the post you’re creating. If you’re building a website using an editor like Dreamweaver, or just hand coding it, then try and use your keywords as part of the title of the page, in between the title tags. It’s important not to make your title awkward by overusing keywords. You have to remember, your visitors see your title too, it’s not just there for search engines.

Descriptive meta tags, and keyword meta tags aren’t as big a part of how search engines rank sites as they used to be, but that doesn’t mean they should be overlooked. Description meta tags should contain as many keywords as you can manage, while remaining coherent. It’s important not to make your description awkward or overly bulky just to squeeze in a few more keywords because search engines often use those descriptions as a snippet about the site when it shows up in search results. As for the meta keyword tags, don’t exceed 20 keywords when using them. Search engines view excessive keyword use in the meta tags negatively, so you could actually wind up doing more harm than good if you overdo it.

A visitor that comes to your site through an image search is no less valuable than a visitor that comes through a regular search, so make sure to handle your images correctly. Be sure to take the time to name your images carefully. Be as descriptive as you can, and don’t be afraid to give the image a somewhat lengthy name. Be sure to use the alt tags to describe the image in detail as well.

All of the uses for keywords covered above are important when building an SEO friendly website, but they’re all supplemental to keyword-rich content. Search engines are putting a greater focus on the actual content on a site, and h ow it relates to the keywords in your niche. So be sure to use keywords effectively in your code, images, and content, and you’ll see your search rank rise before you know it.

Start Using SEO Now to Profit in The Future

Start Using SEO Now to Profit in The Future

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is an important part of marketing which allows for greater exposure to your website(s) through the continued use of techniques which propagate positive influence. This influence will affect both internet users browsing websites as well as the Search Engines which serve up these websites. The way that this influence occurs is fairly simple to understand, although how it works exactly is not entirely known due to the constant changes being made to the Search Engine algorithms. Profiteers will wish to make the most amount of money in the least amount of time with these methods, but the best option is to build up earnings slowly and gradually for consistent results.

Simple Tricks to Taking Advantage of SEO:

SEO Software – SEO Software is available in many fashions and makes it simple to automate the process of Search Engine optimization. These options will usually guarantee a top ten ranking for keywords that are searched with little competition. Although you may not rank for the top keywords, you will rank for alternatives.

Blogging - Blogging helps to build a knowledge base for customers and interested parties to learn more. Not only does this help the image of the website, but it provides several opportunities to link back to the original website which is being promoted which in turn affects the ranking positively on the Search Engines. The fresh content from blogs also helps your site stay relevant in the search engines – and it also increases your chance on getting more links back to your website. A great tool is Ping-O-Matic for this, which basically “pings” (or notifies) all of the major search engines and blog engines when you make a new post. All you have to do is go to their website and input your details once (then save your information via a bookmark) then every time you visit that bookmark it will ping all of the major search engines to notify them of your changes you have made.

Using SEO Services – Many content providers and services will be able to make the process less time consuming for the original website owner/manager. The content provided will be made by real people and this is what makes it more visually appealing to the target audience. This method helps to connect emotionally to future consumers of your products to increase sales and improve profit margins.

Over time, using these techniques will help you increase your PageRank, increase the number of backlinks, and ultimately the number of sales or visitors you get to your website.

Tips for Using Blogs as a Traffic Source

Tips for Using Blogs as a Traffic Source

A great example of a nicely integrated store/blog.

Blogs can be a great source of traffic for your main website. If you are selling Android accessories for Android based cellphones, it would be a great idea to have a blog set up as a side project in order to do a few things:

  • Keep your buyers and customers informed.
  • Keep constant new information coming from your website which can then be picked up by Google.
  • Announce product updates, etc.

As an Android accessory sales website owner, your most important thing is to get users and visits who A) have Android phones and B) might potentially buy something. It can be a great attractor for your visitors to see that you have a blog because it gives a personal element to your site as well.

Blogs are one of the resources which are free or very cheap to set up. These services are one of the essential traffic sources that any advertising plan needs to get more exposure to specific websites. The common options do take time to increase in readers and thus improving the influence it can have on the audience. Well established Blogs are also an important resource when you use them wisely to help you provide traffic to your websites.

The most common option is to create a blog with a popular service and keep it updated. The blog can be anything relating to the business, products or services which are being offered. The more information that is placed on these blogs, the more can be indexed into search engines which will help route common searches to the blogs, which in turn could route traffic to the website(s) that need the traffic. This option does take time, but the great thing is that many blogs can be created and be about different subjects in the industry and still lead traffic to the same website(s).

The other option which works well is to keep watch for blogs that offer information about the same field or subject that relates to the websites needing promotion. These blogs will usually have comment sections that allow for comments from readers to be shown. Of course, many of these comment fields will be offered with spam protection so the comments need to sound natural to post without being filtered out. The way that these comments can help improve traffic to websites is the fact that they are usually indexed by search engines. They can be used to place a link back to the websites that are being promoted for additional search engine weight.

Build a Successful Blog

Building a successful blog isn’t easy. It takes a ton of work, long hours promoting, writing, submitting to directories, and doing other mundane tasks.

But, luckily building a successful blog is possible. There are so many niches that need a top site still, and the field is wide open. Maybe you are an expert pottery maker, photographer, or management consultant. There are numerous people each day looking for content on your topic avidly online and you can be the site that they come to.

Content
Writing good content is really important to having a successful blog. Content should be aimed at readability for your visitors, but also for search engine optimization.

It takes a delicate balance between writing for the search engines and for your users.

The best way I can suggest to do it is to use keywords as part of sentences only when you need it. For example, if I have a website about chocolate pancakes, I do not need to include that in every sentence or even every other sentence. However, I can use the keyword in the opening sentence or as part of a sentence when needed. The other thing you can do is add your keyword to your content using h2 title tags within the content. You can have your opening sentence or “thesis” at the start of your paragraph even with your keyword in it, as a way to draw attention to your main idea for your reader, and to improve your search engine optimization (SEO) rank.

Marketing
Marketing your blog can be a chore unless you want to do it the right way. Marketing can be a lot of fun — visiting your favorite blogs on your specific niche can be a great way to market your blog through commenting on their recent posts. Engaging with top bloggers can get your name out there and get people to follow your blog when you write engaging comments and participate in discussion.

Another marketing method is to join forums that are related to your niche. Promote your blog lightly, through your forum signature only — or else you will just seem like a spammer.

Start slow building your blog and relationships with your readers. Find and engage your audience, promote it through social media, bookmarking and forums and take your time to build it, it will not come over night so be patient.

Beginner SEO Tricks

Beginner SEO Tricks

Search Engine Optimization, SEO for short is actually really easy when you get the hang of it, all it takes is a bit of practice and work and your website will be up and ready to go SEO wise.

One of the most important things for SEO purposes is your top level domain or TLD. This is the extension on the end of your website such as .com, .net, .us, or .info. Those TLD are important because for some reason it takes a lot more work to get lesser known TLD in the rankings of search sites like Google. It is possible, but the success rate is much higher for .com, .net, and .org URLs.

Basic Design Tricks
Some of the best things you can do are centered around the design of your website. This includes using a CSS stylesheet instead of (old) HTML color and size tags. This will help clean up your website code and make it easier to index the content. ANother thing you can do is make sure that your navigation uses text links instead of image and javascript links. Doing this helps because it makes the navigation of the site easier to follow for the search bot, making all your pages indexable, instead of just the easiest ones to get to.

Do not use a splash page on your website (unless it is under construction). The splash page never has as much content as a good homepage does, so make sure you get rid of that splash page, yesterday (now).

Content Tricks
I wouldn’t really call this a trick, but write really good content. Pretty simple, right? Well, not always. Writing good content for SEO purposes can be really difficult, but once you learn how to write in a great style as an overall writer, learning to write for SEO is very easy. Basically search engines love keywords, they are what people are searching for. So for example if I have a website that is about “chocolate covered pancakes” that is what I want someone to type in to Google when they are searching. So I will make sure my website domain has chocolate covered pancakes in it, my title does, and most of all, my content. I will have sentences that contain those keywords that I want my site to rank for. So I will write about things like “chocolate pancake recipes” and other phrases like that to help my ranking within the search engines.
