Avoid Going With Bad SEO Partners

Many webmasters that are looking to have their site go up on search engines are also seeking to partner up with others to help them manage either all or part of their SEO needs. Indeed, there are many reputable firms out there which offer excellent services to their clients. But remember, anybody can call themselves a “SEO Expert” and offer their services to unsuspecting buyers. If you want to avoid wasting money on poor results, here are some things you will want to keep under consideration:

Avoid Giving Large Projects to Unknown Businesses

There are plenty of webmasters out there which would like to have one company handle all of their SEO needs, such as on page optimization, content production, backlink building, etc. While this is fine, it often involves paying more than a few hundred dollars in advance. This is something you should be careful with. Check the reputation of the people you will be dealing with beforehand. Take a look at their online presence to see if they’ve been operating for a long time and if they have some actual satisfied clients.

Be Careful With Cheap Content Providers

One of the main areas of SEO would be the creation of content. We all know that it’s important to have unique articles or blog posts to help rank your pages. There are many content providers online, but also there are many of them which aren’t good. The general rule is avoid those that offer services too cheaply. If they offer to create 10 x 500 word articles for $10… then you should know that something’s not right. Yes, you’ll probably receive your content. But the following will happen: either these will be plagiarized articles that were simply copied from the web and had a few words changed here and there, or they will simply be articles written in poor English that just have your keywords thrown in at random. Anyone familiar with SEO will know that such content will be useless to you.

Same Thing With Backlink Builders

First of all, buying backlinks is not a recommended practice for durable SEO. Your backlinks should come naturally either from your own efforts such as by including links to your site in social media or YouTube videos that you post, or from other people that link to your site’s pages because they truly found the content to be useful. If you check out freelancing sites or webmaster forums, there will often be members claiming that they can get you hundreds of high quality backlinks for a few dollars. More often than not, these backlinks are definitely not of the quality that was promised and are actually quite bad, coming from sites that are either unrelated to your niche or which already contain dozens of links to completely different sites, which will do nothing to help you with SEO. Also, too many of these links will get your site penalized as it will look like you’re trying to game the system with search engines.

Getting Your E-Commerce Website Off The Ground : Part 2

Getting Your E-Commerce Website Off The Ground : Part 2

We’ve seen a few tips about choosing a provider that will help you create your e-commerce website. Some of the main elements involve comparing prices between various web development companies and checking the reputation of your provider. There are also a few other tips that will help you save some money on getting your web store up, especially if you don’t have much of a budget. Here are some of them:

  • Work with a freelancer as opposed to a professional web development company

If you just want to build a small site to begin your online money making efforts, then having your website designed by a freelancer as opposed to a professional design firm. While they could be very competent, web design firms that do e-commerce sites often charge very high prices, such as over $1000 for a website. Of course, not every new online entrepreneur could afford that. The alternative would be working with a freelancer, who could create a website for you for less than $100 in some cases. You can browse through the buy/sell section of many internet marketing forums, as well as take a look at freelancer sites like Odesk and Freelancer.com to find some people willing to do the task. One of the advantages of freelancing sites and forums is that checking the reputation of the service provider becomes much easier, as there is usually a feedback system as well as comments left on the thread by other clients.

  • Design some of the elements of the site yourself

If you are able to do so, then you should definitely create some of the elements on your site by yourself. For example, if you are good in graphic design, you could create your own logos, buttons and website background, and just send them over to the provider that is creating your website. This will allow your website to be completed much faster and will also save you some money, as there will be less work for the provider to do.

  • Avoid packages that include hosting

This is both for quality and price reasons. There are some e-commerce website providers that offer hosting solutions. However, these are often much more expensive than getting your own account at a web host. If you are going to build a small website, then you can find quality web hosting for around $5 – $8 per month. Many providers charge many times that and their web hosting is actually not too better in terms of quality, as they are simply using a reseller account on a web host like GoDaddy. After, if your site grows, you can get yourself a VPS hosting solution for around $30 to $50 a month. This will give you more reliability and flexibility than using a shared web hosting account. Also, managing the hosting yourself gives you more control over your website and makes it easier to make some advanced changes and troubleshoot problems if they occur, as opposed to letting a provider manage everything for you.

Getting Your E-Commerce Website Off The Ground

Getting Your E-Commerce Website Off The Ground

After you have decided on a niche and found some reliable and high quality suppliers for your e-commerce website, then it is time to take things one step further and actually get your website off the ground. There are two basic ways that you can do this, either you can get a website built for you by another company or person, or you could always build the site by yourself.

Many people who are not experienced in web development will probably want to have their website built by another provider. In itself, this is not such a bad idea. After all, it can save you time and frustration in getting your website started. But there could also be some potential disadvantages to all of this. If you would like to get your website done by a 3rd party, there are some things that you would need to keep in consideration to avoid problems and get started as soon as you can.

Here are some tips:

  • Get quotes from multiple providers

In the online world, there are thousands of web development companies that can create a professional web store for you. As such, you should compare the prices between different providers to see which one would offer the most competitive rates. Don’t hesitate to compare a dozen or so providers before making your decision and don’t feel pressured to go with one provider over the other if you haven’t made your selection just yet.

  • Check the reputation of the web developer in question

Besides getting a good price, you will want to work with a web developer that will deliver on what they promised and do so on time. You can find out a lot about a company by simply Googling their name or the name of their owner. This will often allow you to find any complaints that have been posted about them in discussion groups or web forums. Also, ask to see their portfolio of websites that they have designed in the past. Links to active websites are the best. Many web designers will have this right on their website, allowing you to easily see their previous work.

  • Work with a provider that is experienced with e-commerce sites

Building an e-commerce site involves a lot more than simple web design and graphic design skills. The website developer will also need to put together a customized back end or engine which will power your site and allow you to make changes to your site, such as add or remove products, etc. Since this is the software that will be powering your entire site, you will need to make sure that it is well configured and does its job properly. Therefore, it is best to go with a provider that is experienced with building web stores and e-commerce sites, as there will be a higher chance that they will know what they are doing.

Using Fiverr To Make Money: Part 3

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Using Fiverr To Make Money: Part 3

Previously, we have seen how it is possible to make money from Fiverr by selling your services. But there are other ways that you can profit from this unique freelancing site and this is by being a buyer. While making a profit buying things may not seem very obvious at first, there are actually some ways that you can make this happen. Let’s take a look at some of these ways:

  • Buying Traffic and Social Media Promotion

Let’s say you have a product or service that you are selling online and could use some traffic to get some exposure for it. There are many sellers who offer social media promotion on Fiverr, such as sending out Tweets or putting a link to your website on their Facebook fan page. Many of these people have tens of thousands of Twitter followers or Facebook fans, meaning that your message will be seen by a lot of people. However, it is still important that you check the reputation of the seller, just to make sure that their fans or followers are actually real people rather than bots. You can do this by checking their feedback and seeing what others have left as comments about the service that they offered. Still, for just $5, you are getting a lot of potential exposure and are not risking a lot of money if you don’t get the results that you were hoping for.

  • Outsourcing Services

While I have mentioned it in another post some time ago, I will say it once again: there is a lot of profit to be made from what is referred to as “services arbitrage”. What does it consist of? Quite simply, you would sell your services at another place, such as an internet marketing forum and then outsource it to people on Fiverr for a lower price. So let’s say that you get paid $7 to write a 600 word article based on an offer that you’ve made on an IM forum. You would then outsource that article creation to someone on Fiverr and have them write it for $5. You keep the $2 difference as a profit. Sure, the $2 doesn’t sound like much, however this can quickly add up. So if you are outsourcing 10 articles a day, this can generate a profit of $600 a month. Not bad, considering the fact that you could spend less than an hour a day managing this.

Here again, the trick is to make sure that whoever you are outsourcing the work to will do a quality job so that you can maintain your reputation as being a provider that offers great services to your client. Check the seller’s past feedback to see if it is good and give them a small assignment to begin with. If you notice that they do good work and follow your instructions well, you can then send them more regular work and you will have found a great partner that you can outsource your work to.

Selling on eBay: Choosing a Good Drop Shipper: Part 1

Tags: , , , , , , , , , ,

Selling on eBay: Choosing a Good Drop Shipper: Part 1

If you are going to be dropshipping and selling items on eBay, then you need to be really careful as to the dropshipper that you choose. Selecting the wrong one could rapidly ruin your reputation and cause untold problems. Even if the dropshipper that you are looking at claims to have the products that you want to sell to your buyers at great prices, there is still more that you need to do in order to be sure they will be able to deliver. Here are some tips to avoid any problems when dropshipping on eBay:

  • First, start out slowly

When they notice an opportunity to make money online by selling things or by any other means, a lot of people go all in from the very beginning. This might be good in some cases, but with eBay selling this is not the best idea that you could go with. Why is that? After all, isn’t it good to make as much money as fast as you can? You can always try, but if you later find out that you have chosen the wrong supplier for your products, then you have just created a big mess for yourself.

What is a better way to get started? Actually, it’s simple: first make a test order for yourself. Buy one of the products and have the dropshipper send it over to you. You will then be able to see whether you have received the right item in the right condition and whether you have received it within the specified time frame. If you want to be even safer and make sure that the supplier will perform just as well when shipping things to your clients, then you can always list just 1 or 2 items for sale and then see if your buyers have received the item and were satisfied with it. In this scenario, in the worst case you would simply refund your buyers if they did not receive the item as promised or if they didn’t get exactly what you put up for sale.

Once you have determined that the supplier for the goods that you are selling is reliable, you can then start doing business at full scale with them.

  • Try to find more than one dropshipper for your items

This will serve as a good backup in case one of your suppliers experiences problems or has run out of the items that you normally sell. It is much better to do business with more than one supplier, as your own business will not be disrupted too severely if you can’t use one of them anymore. Being in a situation where you have lost one of your suppliers and need to scramble to find another one is not good, as very often sellers fail to do their due diligence in this case and will choose a replacement without even bothering to check their reputation and whether they are any good.

Affiliate Programs and CPA Networks: How to Recognize and Stay Away from Scammers

Affiliate Programs and CPA Networks: How to Recognize and Stay Away from Scammers

Many internet marketers make their money by dealing with affiliate programs or with CPA networks that have various kinds of offers they can push in order to make money. Most of these companies are legitimate and will pay you the earnings that you have made on time, every single time. But there are a couple of bad players in the industry. Here are some ways to spot and avoid them:

  • Do some research first

Before even signing up for a network simply doing a Google search for their name can bring you a lot of information about the company. You will often find blog posts, forum posts and articles that mention them. Read these. See what other internet marketers are saying about them and look at whether the general opinion is positive or negative.

  • Be wary around “start ups” and smaller networks

If a company has not yet established their reputation in the industry, remember that things can go in two ways with them. Either they will grow to become a productive and successful network or they will fold. If it’s the second thing that happens, things are not likely to be pretty. There have been several cases of networks going under and skipping out on tens of thousands of dollars of payments to affiliates. The large majority involved CPA networks which were operating for less than a year.

  • Be careful around networks who seem to approve everyone

While there are some notable exceptions to this, such as Commission Junction and ClickBank, which are very reputable networks, as a general rule you should be quite wary around a network that seems to approve every publisher that applies without giving them a phone call or emailing them to ask them about their marketing methods. While you may think it is convenient, this can cause problems down the road, if large amounts of fraudsters manage to sign up and merchants start dropping the network.

  • Carefully check the terms of any offers that you run and ask questions if necessary

This is especially the case for “trial” or “membership” offers. While you may be offered a good amount for every sign up, some merchants have been known to use underhanded tactics if not enough of the sign ups that you refer have converted to full members on their end. Some may falsely accuse you of sending fraudulent leads or deliberately using bad quality traffic and refuse to pay you. For this reason, it is very important that you check the terms of the offer to see if the merchant has any special requirements with regards to the type of traffic you can send and its productivity.

  • Work with multiple networks and run different offers

It is not a good idea to focus all of your marketing efforts for the month on just one offer or on offers from only one network, no matter how profitable they may seem. Spread out your traffic around several different offers in the niche on different networks. That way, if there is any problem with one of them, you will still be getting paid by the others.

Is Local Web Hosting a Good Idea?

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Is Local Web Hosting a Good Idea?

There are plenty of local business owners and internet entrepreneurs who are asking as to whether going with a local hosting company in their city is a good idea. One of the principal reasons as to why they are interested in using a local web host is to support the local economy and to support local small businesses like theirs. Certainly enough, no one could ever say that supporting a local business is a bad idea. But are web hosting solutions which are provided by small local companies really adequate for everyone’s needs?

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Here are some possible drawbacks of using a small local hosting company for your website:

  • They haven’t established their reputation yet

Large, international hosting companies which do business with everyone and are not aimed at a particular city have usually been thoroughly reviewed and talked about on the internet. You will find reviews made both by webmasters who have simply hosted a website with them, to experts in the field of web hosting. This can be very helpful in making a determination as to whether a certain web host provides quality service or not. If you can’t find many reviews on the host you intend to use, it can be quite hard to make this decision.

  • Their support could be limited

Small companies often cannot afford to have staff members that are available 24 hours a day who can answer all of your questions and resolve problems, just like the bigger hosting companies. Remember, your website is not like a store, it never closes. Therefore, it needs to be up 24 hours a day and help should also be available 24 hours a day should it be needed to resolve any technical problems that cause your site to not function properly. This staff should also be truly able to fix problems, rather than just note down information and say that someone will get back to you the next day.

  • They may have limited resources

Smaller companies usually cannot afford to make large investments in order to have an entire data center filled with servers. Furthermore, they may not have the facilities to make daily backups, as well as have a contingency plan in place should there be a problem, such as a fire, natural disaster, or power failure.

So, who are local web hosting companies actually good for?

If you run a small website for your business and you don’t mainly depend on the site to conduct your operations, then you could go with a local hosting company if you believe that it is a better idea in your opinion. However, if you are running an e-commerce site that is the main source of revenue for your company, you are much better off using the services of a larger web hosting company which has shown that they have a good reputation in the marketplace and have a perfect record when it comes to reliability and support.

Why Avoiding “Cheap” Hosts is a Good Idea

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Why Avoiding “Cheap” Hosts is a Good Idea

When searching for web hosting, you may have seen companies that offer you really inexpensive hosting, such as $2 a month for an unlimited plan without any commitment. Obviously, these prices are attractive, but there must be some catch, right? Well in many cases, these hosting companies are places that you should stay away from if you are serious about your online business. Here are some reasons as to why:

  • They are usually not real “web hosting companies”

What is meant by that is that they don’t have their own offices, staff, servers and connections. In most cases, these cheap hosting providers actually rent a server from another web host and then resell the space to their customers in an effort to make money. But what could be worse is simply one person buying a server and then plugging it into their internet connection at home. Obviously, don’t expect much in terms of reliability with that kind of arrangement.

  • They don’t provide good support

It would be very rare for such a company to give you 24/7 customer service and technical support. In most cases, the only way you have of getting in touch with them is by email or by opening up a support ticket on their website. It can take several hours, or even days for them to get back to you. Don’t assume that if they have a toll free number and claim that they offer “24/7 support” that they are actually a real hosting company with staff standing by to take your call. Any kid can get a toll free number and then just forward it to his cell phone. Many times, you will find that when you try calling them, no one is available and you are told to leave a message.

  • They haven’t built a reputation in the web hosting industry

These inexpensive hosts are usually “no name” companies that have not built a reputation and have not been reviewed by many customers. As such, you will have trouble actually trying to find out whether they offer good service or not. Buying hosting from a reputable company is the key when you want stable and secure hosting. Consider this: which one would be a better MP3 player? A real iPod, or some Chinese imitation that sells for $10? The same principle applies to web hosting as well. You are much better off sticking with the known companies and brands if you want decent service.

  • Security and reliability could be a further problem

Professional web hosting companies know how to keep their servers running in optimal condition and how to secure them from attacks by hackers, viruses and malware. A no-name hosting company might not. In fact, they may cut down costs by not even making any backups, so if data is lost due to a server malfunction or hacking, it could be gone forever unless you have made your own backup copy first.

A Virtual Staff Can Propel You To Success – Part 4

A Virtual Staff Can Propel You To Success – Part 4

We’ve taken a look at how useful having a virtual team of staff members can be for your online business. In theory, everything seems easy, as all you have to do is to find people who are capable of doing what you are looking for. In order for your business to run smoothly, there are a few last things you need to take into consideration. Remember, your reputation will largely depend on the quality of your workers, so these are things to take seriously.

Try Out Your Workers First

When you are recruiting new people, you need to assign them a small project for you to be able to see if their work is of good quality and whether they can deliver on what they promise. For example, if you need 100 articles written and have 5 people interested in doing the work, you will ask each of them to write 1 article. Then, you will split the project up and hire those that did the best job. So if you are left with 2 people who write really well, you will assign each of them 50 articles.

Avoid Getting Scammed

One mistake that people often make is to hire someone based only on work samples that they have provided. While they may be useful in guiding your choice, samples are definitely NOT the only thing you will want to consider. Think of it: anyone could grab someone else work and then claim it as their own. Another thing is all too common with article writers is people who can’t really write in decent English hire someone who can to write sample articles for them and then show it to their clients as examples of their own work. If you are not careful, you will soon realize the hard way that they actually have no clue as to how to write.

To avoid misunderstandings, be sure to tell the staff member exactly what needs to be done and by when you need the work completed. If you have found people on a forum or freelancing site, check their reputation, such as their feedback and the previous posts they made on the forum. If you see that all their posts are nothing but filler such as “Nice share” or “Yes, thanks for the info”, it is probable that they are just increasing their post count in the hopes of getting people to trust them.

Taking Things Further

One of the advantages of online business which I have repeated time and time again is that you have the potential to earn as much, or as little money as you want to. If you are satisfied with this making you only a few dollars a day, then that’s fine. But if you want to expand this into a full time business, it can be done as well. Some people have turned the ideas that I mentioned into an enterprise that earns in excess of six figures a year in profit. These people have started out in exactly the same way than you. All you need to expand is to get more staff and more customers who will pay for your services. If you manage the operation properly, you can definitely turn this into a great money earner.

Finding Legitimate Online Business Opportunities – Part 1

Finding Legitimate Online Business Opportunities – Part 1

There are various business opportunities that you can take advantage of in the online world and make money from them. Many have allowed people to build successful online businesses and achieve whatever goals they had, whether it was to create a part-time side income or to replace their full time job entirely. Unfortunately, the internet is full of “business opportunity” offers that either don’t deliver on their promises or worse, are run by outright scammers who disappear soon after collecting enough money from unsuspecting people. There are some things that you can do if you want to find some legitimate earning opportunities and being taken for a ride. Keep them in mind before you join any program or online business opportunity.

Research what the opportunity is truly about

What will you be doing to earn money? What products will you be selling, what kinds of offers will you be promoting? Is it physical goods? Is it digital products? These are all questions that you need to ask when checking out a business opportunity. A flashy page with pictures of luxury villas, stacks of money and sports cars can definitely look attractive. In fact, it is a very common marketing tactic in the business opportunity world. Beware of any site that asks you to pay money in order to join “the business of a lifetime” without giving you any clue as to what you will be doing to actually earn money. If you blindly join an opportunity by simply looking at the dollar signs, then you may very well end up with a box full of products that are nearly impossible to re-sell at a profit, or otherwise realize that this is not something that you would have been interested in had you known what their business was actually about.

Check out the company’s reputation

This should really be a given before starting out, but many people are so impressed by the flashy sales page and claims of “this opportunity may not be here tomorrow so join today!!” that they forget to do their due diligence before jumping in. A quick way to start would be to simply Google the name of the company or their website and scan through a few pages of search results. Do you see any complaints being made about them? Do you see any negative reviews? While EVERY company, even giant corporations such as American Express and Microsoft have their detractors and people who weren’t happy with their services, seeing a large number of complaints and warnings about a company is a bad sign.

Also, do not base your decision on a few glowing testimonials or reviews that you found on the first page of Google. These could, and frequently are, fabricated either by the company itself or by affiliates who are promoting them for a quick buck without actually caring about what they are promoting.

Getting Started In Online Writing – Part 3

Getting Started In Online Writing – Part 3

If you want to be an online freelance writer, the main thing that you will need are clients that will pay you to write articles and other content for them. This is the 3rd part in the series which will present you some ways to find work:

Online freelancing sites.

Online freelancing sites are marketplaces where both clients and service providers meet. Think of it as a marketplace for online freelance work, kind of like eBay is for buying and selling merchandise. Examples of sites include RentACoder, GetAFreelancer, oDesk, Fiverr and Microworkers. In general, you would create a profile that includes information about you and samples of your work. With the exception of Fiverr, on most freelancing sites you would actually need to bid on projects to show your interest in doing them rather than the client seeing your profile and then contacting you.

Advantages:

  • Lots of work is available in the writing field. This includes not only articles, but also copywriting, ghostwriting ebooks, translating documents and web pages, etc.
  • Good security. Most sites have a system that prevents the client and service provider from scamming one another and have a dispute resolution process. This decreases the chances of not getting paid for your work.
  • Ability to build a positive reputation as you complete projects, similar to iTrader on forums or the eBay feedback system.
  • Multiple ways of cashing out your earnings. Freelancing sites offer you payment methods such as PayPal, check, bank wire, Western Union or can put your earnings on a Visa or MasterCard debit card. This can be very useful if you would like to be paid by something other than PayPal. Take note, however that certain withdrawal methods, such as Western Union or bank wire could carry a relatively large fee so it is best to check the withdrawal fees before you select a way to get paid.

Disadvantages:

  • Lots of competition. You won’t be the only one offering your services and far from it. If you live in the “West”, know that you will be competing against writers from countries such as India or the Philippines, who often take up projects for far less due to differences in the economy.
  • Can be quite difficult to get accepted for projects if you are new and have no feedback. Clients will be wary of assigning an important project to someone new who has not yet built a reputation on the site. Therefore your first projects will probably be small ones worth a few dollars, such as writing one article.
  • Possible delays in getting paid. While the money will be credited to your account at the freelancing site as soon as the client approves your work, the freelancing sites sometimes require a waiting period ranging from a week to a month before you can withdraw the amounts that you’ve earned to your payment method.

Avoiding Scams When Working With Others You Meet Online

Avoiding Scams When Working With Others You Meet Online

In the internet marketing world, many people run their own business from home and thus run everything by themselves, a “one man show” of sorts. However, there are many cases where running everything by yourself could prove to be very difficult. So if you want to expand your business, you may find it necessary to partner up with others in the IM world or to hire some workers to perform certain tasks for you. This, of course, does not come without its risks. While in a perfect world, everyone would be honest and reliable, in reality this isn’t the case. More so in cyberspace.

Now let’s say you find someone on a forum to team up with on a project or do some work together, there are ways to reduce the risk of getting scammed. Here are some easy things that you should consider:

  • Look at the person’s reputation and history. This is quite easy to do on a forum, since you will be able to see how many posts the user has made and when they have joined the forum. It goes without saying that someone who has made hundreds of useful contributions, been part of a community for several years and has had many successful deals with other members is much less likely to pull a fast one than a guy who just signed up yesterday. But don’t completely let your guard down either. There have been cases where long time users and even moderators on some forums have been involved in scams that robbed users of over six figures in total.
  • Think about the deal or offer… does it seem right to you? Use some basic logic. If someone claims they can design a complete web site for you for $5, or that they can bring you thousands of targeted visitors just by joining their $29.99 a month membership site, do you see that something seems fishy here?
  • If possible, ask to see samples of their work. When you order a service, such as logo creation or article writing, ask to see some original work from the service provider. If they make excuses as to why they can’t, or send you something that looks like it was simply lifted from a random website, once again, something doesn’t seem right.
  • Do a quick Google search of their user name, business name, email address, etc. to find out as much information as possible about a user that you are planning to do business with. This will sometimes let you find some interesting information, such as whether complaints have been made against them on websites like scam.com or RipoffReport.

Make More Money With Your Talents

We’ve already talked a little bit about how you can turn your talents into profits on the internet. There are a lot of methods other than the ones we’ve already covered, and we thought it might be a good idea to take another look at the topic. so, without further ado, here are some more ways to turn your talents into profits.

Twitter Backgrounds

If you have any artistic ability, and a copy of Photoshop at your disposal, you can probably crank out a half decent looking Twitter background in a short amount of time. Twitter backgrounds don’t generally sell for much, but they also don’t take a lot of time to create. Once you have a reputation for creating decent backgrounds, you can begin taking custom orders for higher prices. Generally speaking, if you can crank out graphic work quickly, and without a lot of hassle, Twitter backgrounds can be a great way to bring in some money.

Design Contests

A lot of companies and websites offer logo design contests. In these contests, graphic artists submit a logo in hopes of winning the prize money offered. Just to be clear, this isn’t a good idea for an established graphic designer. If you’ve been working in the field for some time, there are better ways to get clients, and you’ll be guaranteed payment instead of hoping to win prize money. If you’re just starting out in design though, entering logo contests is a great way to build up your portfolio, and possibly generate some income at the same time.

Local Businesses

If you’re a talented web designer, you can make decent money by approaching local businesses to see if they’re looking to create or upgrade an online presence. Be prepared with information about what the internet can do for them, and they’ll be more likely to take you up on your offer.

Graphic and web designers stand to make decent money on the internet. Knowing which methods to choose can ensure that you’ll make a great deal of money from your design talents.

Choose A Social Media Manager

Choose A Social Media Manager

Running a social media marketing campaign can be a tricky process. Each different social media site has it’s own pro’s and cons, and if you don’t know how to work within the confines of a particular site, you’re not going to be able to use it effectively as part of your marketing campaign. If you’re not familiar with all the ins and outs of social media marketing, you might want to hire a social media marketing manager.

If you’re going to hire a social media manager, it’s important to hire the right person for the job. Your reputation can take a lot of serious, irreversible damage if your social media marketing campaign is run poorly, so you need to be sure you’re hiring someone with experience, and knowledge about how to use social media effectively.

When you’re talking to a candidate, don’t be afraid to ask for references. Take a look at any other social media campaigns they have worked on or are currently working on, and take the time to examine those accounts closely. Make sure that your candidate handled themselves professionaly on the social media accounts they ran for other people. If you see any signs that they may have been inconsistent, or anything other than professional when dealing with previous clients, they may not be the social media manager for you.

It’s also a good idea to take a look at their own social media accounts. A good social media manager will have accounts set up to promote themselves. Those accounts should be updated regularly, and they should have high quality friends and followers. Numbers aren’t everything – just because they have a lot of friends or followers that doesn’t mean they are high quality friends and followers. Look to see how often they interact with other people on social media sites, and you’ll get a good idea of how well they manage their own social media accounts

If you take the time to pick the right person for the job, you’ll be on your way to a successful social media marketing campaign. Social media can have a huge impact on your reputation, so it’s important to treat it with the right level of importance.
