Establishing Your Blog as an Authority in Your Niche

If you want your blog to become popular, you may have heard that it would need to become an authority in its niche. Many bloggers and online marketers wonder how this could be accomplished. The steps to take are relatively straightforward, however they will take time to complete fully. Here’s what you can do to put your blog on the road to being a respected site in its niche:

  • Create Quality Content for Your Blog

There’s really no way around this one. Your blog, in order to be viewed as an authority and respected by both readers and search engines, must have something interesting for the readers in it. This means that the content must be original and likely to appeal to your audience. Don’t just repeat what others have said, especially if you post on topics such as news. If you post about something that’s been in the news lately, for example the controversy surrounding the SOPA act in the United States at the moment, users will want to read something original about it and not just a rewrite of what the major press outlets have said. Add information from different sources. Add your own opinion, as well as the opinions of others. Include graphics, images and videos when it becomes necessary.

  • Participate in Niche Communities

Discussion forums, other blogs, social media pages, etc. are all great places where you can get some exposure for your blog. Include a link to your blog in your profile. Include a link to your blog in your forum signature. Share your blog posts with others when others whenever possible. People who are already interested in your niche are more likely to visit your blog and follow it if they find the content to be useful and interesting to them.

  • Make References to Previous Blog Posts and Link to Other Posts as Well

Make references to other posts in your blog when appropriate. This will increase readership of your other blog pages with your visitors and can also have some very good benefits when it comes to search engine optimization. Readers are more likely to come back to your blog if they find that it provides a complete explanation of the topics covered by having links to posts that are related to the current one that they’re reading.

Linking to and referencing other blogs is also recommended. While it may seem counter productive to send traffic to other websites without making any direct profit from it, remember that this is a blog and not a landing page for a product that you’re selling. In the blogging community, it is frequent for bloggers to link, quote and reference contents on other blogs and websites. It all comes down to sharing. Other blog owners frequently look at where their traffic is coming from and they’re likely to check out your blog too. This will give you opportunities to have your content shared and possibly even get you links on blogs and related niche websites too.

Keeping Up With Changes in SEO: Part 2

Previously, we have seen two very useful strategies that you can employ to stay on top of the whole SEO game. As a webmaster, it is important for you to consider that search engines like Google, Bing and Yahoo constantly upgrade their algorithms and make tweaks or changes to it on a regular basis. This could have an effect on certain sites, however in general there are some tried and tested SEO guidelines that you can follow to ensure that your site rises, or at least maintains its current position in search results for the keywords that you are targeting. Here are some more tips that you can use for this purposes:

  • Have Quality Content on Your Site

Search engines are looking for quality sites to include in their search results and make them more visible than other, lower quality sites. Now how do you make your content be of good “quality” for the search engines. There are certain things to consider. You will see, most of it is really common sense and stuff that most webmasters are already applying. But it never hurts to be reminded of these:

Use proper spelling, grammar and sentence structure in your content.

That’s right, according to many SEO experts, if your site content is well written, then you have a higher chance of getting good search engine rankings. Now what do we mean by proper spelling, grammar and syntax? Will making a few typos or misusing a word cause you to plunge down? No. But your content must have general “proper” English, or whatever language your web site is in. Want some examples of what kind of phrasing would penalize you? Phrases like this:

“At our compani we are workings very hard for sattisfactions of ensuring customer makings of quality production for disposal of everyone, now when you buying from us happiness will existing for you!”

Basically, phrasing that the would cause the average individual to scratch their head and think “Huh? What do they mean by that? It doesn’t even make sense!”. If English is not your first language, then hire a freelancer to proofread the content of your site. This can be done for $5 on Fiverr and can definitely be worth it when it comes to SEO. It will also help you improve your overall trust level with site visitors.

Don’t keyword stuff

Keyword stuffing refers to the practice of inserting numerous keywords into your content, even in places where such keywords would be out of place, or simply would be repetitious. While you should definitely have the targeted keywords on your pages, try not to exceed a keyword density of around 2%. Anything more is likely to sound unnatural to readers and will get you penalized by search engines in many cases. Also, avoid creating long “laundry lists” of keywords, which basically consists of stuffing all keywords in one sentence one after the other, separated by commas. This is also bad for SEO and will have the additional bad effect of making the text awkward to read.

How To Place Your Affiliate Links

How To Place Your Affiliate Links

Unfortunately some of the best ways to place affiliate links involve black hat methods, we will cover one of these methods but are mostly interested in how to place you links using all white hat methods (the two in this article are enough to build a successful affiliate career that is completely white hat).

Linking in eBooks

It is no secret that people on the internet love ebooks, however most beginning internet marketers become suspicious after their first few “Sell this ebook on forums” ebooks that they purchase.  Avoid and reshape this mentality by creating (or buying the rights for) ebooks and giving them away for free, now this activity might seem counterintuitive “How can I make money by giving stuff away?” but it is truly ingenious. What you are looking to do is create an ebook about how to make money online using different products, explain the overwhelmingly positive benefits of each of these products and each time you mention the product place it as a hyperlink with your affiliate link as the target.  You can use this technique with all sorts of different niches and some say targeting niches that are not internet marketing are more profitable because people tend to not be expecting affiliate links (did you know the average person does not know that there is any such thing as an affiliate link?).

Article Marketing

This technique will again be focusing on giving people free content and sneaking in your affiliate links. While article marketing can be sort of a shot in the dark, it is a nice way to put some of you links out on the internet and never have to think about them again. Your goal in article marketing is the same as with writing an ebook, provide quality content and advice that causes the user to realize they really need the products in the book, then put your affiliate links and the targets for the product hyperlinks. Article marketing is a much faster way to get your affiliate links out to the world.

Craigslist

This one is definitely blackhat, so only read ahead if you have no problems scamming ordinary everyday people out of their money.  One of the best ways to work affiliate links into craigslist is in the jobs section, when searching for jobs people are nearly as desperate as ever and will go to great lengths to get a job. Another excellent way is in the for sale section, you can actually get away with posting straight affiliate links to Amazon and surprisingly people will purchase through your link! Again, these methods are blackhat and can get you flagged on craigslist.

That’s all there is to it, it takes a little bit of work and patience once you have the links placed, but the internet is a big place and over time you will start seeing sales rolling in via your affiliate links.

Create Compelling Content

Create Compelling Content

One of the most essential parts of a successful website is high quality content. There’s a lot of advice about how to make the b est content on the web, and some of that advice isn’t as helpful as it may seem. There are just a few essential things you need to keep in mind when writing your content to ensure that it will do well online.

Know Your Audience

It’s extremely important to know who you’re writing to. Every different niche is going to have a different set of readers, so you need to take the time to learn about the people interested in your niche. Is your audience old, or young? What income bracket do they fall into? Are they mostly men or women? Each one of these factors will help you to determine how to frame your content so that it appeals to your audience. Think about your real world conversations. You wouldn’t have the same exact conversation with a 50 year old man that you would with a 20 year old woman, would you? Different audiences require different approaches. Know your audience, and you’ll be able to do a better job of writing content that appeals to them.

Know Your Niche

Each niche has a particular set of words and phrases associated with it. In order to write to people interested in your niche, you have to first have a strong understanding of that niche, and all of the terms associated with it. The better your understanding of your niche, the better you’ll be able to write content that will appeal to others interested in your niche.

Make It Your Own

It’s important to know your audience, and your niche, but it’s equally important to know how to make the content you write feel distinct from any other content on the internet. Add your own personal flair to what you write, and use your own experiences to help illustrate the points you’re making. You’re probably writing about information  that other people have written about before, but if you do so in a unique way, your content will stand out from the crowd.

Take the time to learn your audience, and your niche, and make your content unique, and interesting by adding your own personal touch to it, and you’ll be on your way to writing effective content for your website.

More Tips For Driving Traffic To Your Site

More Tips For Driving Traffic To Your Site

A strong internet marketing campaign is nothing without traffic. The more traffic you can generate for your website, the more potential customers you’ll have looking at your products. There are a few important things you can keep in mind in order to help you drive traffic to your site, and ultimately, generate more sales.

Research

Do some research to determine what qualities your audience is looking for in a website. If you already have a little bit of traffic, offer your current audience a poll about what features they’d like to see you implement in the future. If you’re just starting out, take a look at other sites in your niche, and see what types of features they’re offering their audience. Do everything in your power to offer your audience a rich set of attractive features.

Strong Writing

No matter what niche you’re in, chances are, you’re not alone. That means your content has to stand out if you’re going to succeed in driving more traffic to your site. Take the time to write strong articles, and other interesting content for your site. Don’t just try to recreate what other sites in your niche have done, try to do something different, and unique. If you’re having trouble writing high quality content, there’s no shame in hiring a writer.

Advertise

In addition to the Google and Facebook ads you’re probably already familiar with, you can also set up deals with larger sites in your niche whereby you can get an ad placed on their site for a fixed amount of time. Be sure to get any and all information you can about their traffic, and their audience before agreeing to place the ad on their site. Also, don’t advertise on sites that don’t relate directly to your audience. You’re more likely to get new visitors from your target audience that haven’t heard of your site than you are to get visitors from a different audience all together.

So remember, do some research about your visitors’ wants and needs, set your writing apart from the crowd in some way, and advertise with larger sites in your niche. These things will help you to generate more traffic to your site in no time.

The Essential Components Of A Strong Blog

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

The Essential Components Of A Strong Blog

No matter what your niche, it can be tough to launch a blog, and have it become popular. If you’re thinking of launching a new blog, there are a few essential elements you should include in it.

Domain Name

A strong domain name can help your blog in a few ways. If the domain name is short, and easy to remember, it will be much easier for your readers to browse directly to your site. It’s also a good idea to try and include keywords relevant to your niche in your domain name. If your domain name includes strong keywords, your site will show up higher in search results for those keywords.

Theme

It’s important that your site’s appearance reflect it’s purpose. Pick colors and imagery that directly reflect the subject matter of your site, and be sure to stick with that theme throughout the entire site, as well as in any videos you produce.

RSS And Social Media

It’s important to make it as easy as possible for your users to find, and share your content. You should include an RSS button on your site in a prominent place. Each blog post should also include links to automatically share the post on various social media sites, like Facebook, Digg, Twitter, and Reddit.

Affiliate Programs

Chances are, you’re hoping to be compensated for your time in some way when you launch a new blog. Sign up for some affiliate programs, and try to include affiliate links and other ads in each blog post. As you get more and more traffic to your site, you’ll also start to see more and more ad revenue.

Quality Content

If you want your new blog to succeed, you have to give your readers a reason to keep coming back. In other words, you have to provide high quality content for their enjoyment. You can choose to either entertain or inform your readers. If you’re going to entertain them, think about what your audience might find humorous or interesting, and try to craft a post around that. If you’re going to inform them, think about what problems your readers might have, or what questions they might be asking. Try to solve their problems, and answer their questions, and you’ll have some high quality content on your site in no time.

If you put these essential elements together to create your blog, you’ll be on your way to blogging success very quickly. If your users can find and share your high quality content easily, you won’t have any trouble building up; your traffic.

Get More Incoming Links

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Get More Incoming Links

The ultimate goal of any website is to get traffic. Success online rides completely on how much traffic your site gets. The more people that see your site, the better off you are. Each new visitor means a potential sale, or a potential click on one of your ads. One of the most important sources of traffic for any website is incoming links from other sites. There are a few important things you can keep in mind in order to get more incoming links to your site.

Getting other people to link to you is all about high quality content. No other tip for getting incoming links will do you any good if your content isn’t appealing to your readers. Try to think about your readers, and what sort of problems and questions they might have. Each article you write for your site should aim to solve a problem, or answer a question for your readers. If you’re helping them with a problem, they’ll be excited about your content, and they’ll be more inclined to share it with a friend.

Once you have some high quality content in place, it’s time to start getting the word out about it. Start by sharing the content with your Facebook fans, and Twitter followers. Once you’ve done that, think about all of the sites you visit on a daily basis. If you’re on any forums regularly, be sure to put your link in your signature. If you comment frequently on any blogs, make sure to fill out the “website” section of your profile. Once you are putting your content out there, it’s only a matter of time before other sites start picking it up.

If you have been putting your content out there, but you don’t feel like it’s catching on as quickly as it should, take a few minutes, and politely email the owners and editors of any large sites in your niche. Let them know about your content, and ask, again, politely, if they’d share it with their readers. They won’t all say yes, and that’s OK. If just one site larger than your own posts your link, it was worth your time.

Once you have a few links out there, the rest will basically take care of itself. As more and more people see your content, they’ll share it with their friends. As word gets around, other sites in your niche will start to talk about your content, even if you didn’t directly ask them to. Just remember, none of this matters if you don’t start with high quality content. That’s the real key to getting more incoming links.

Why You Should Use Social Bookmarking

Why You Should Use Social Bookmarking

Social bookmarking sites like Digg and Reddit started off as niche services that only tech savvy internet users used, but over the past couple of years, they’ve grown into some of the largest sites on the internet with millions of users spanning every niche you can think of. With such a diverse user base, it’s no wonder social bookmarking has become a central part of most online marketing strategies. Social bookmarking can provide a wide variety of benefits to your, your company, and your website.

The biggest and most apparent benefit of social bookmarking is traffic. If you put a link on a social bookmarking site, and that link gets popular, and eventually makes its way to the homepage of that social bookmarking site, you can be sure that the link will receive a great deal of traffic. With so many people visiting social bookmarking sites on a daily basis, it’s no surprise that popular links on said sites will receive enormous spikes in traffic.

One of the less obvious benefits of social bookmarking is that it allows you to build strong links to your site, and boost your search ranking. When you submit a link to a social bookmarking site, you get to choose the text that link displays. So, in essence, you’re creating a link to your site on a highly popular site with anchor text of your choosing. Because of the high quality of the linking systems used by social bookmarking sites, it’s common for a link on a site like Digg or Reddit to show up ahead of the site it links to in search results, and there’s nothing wrong with that. As long as your content is showing up near the top of search results, it doesn’t really matter whether it’s your actual site, or a social bookmarking site – you still get traffic from it either way.

As long as you’re pushing high quality content, social bookmarking sites are a great way to drive traffic to your site, and boost your search rank. As your link becomes popular across the internet, you’ll begin to see an increase in traffic, and in your search rank in no time. Just be sure to use keyword rich anchor text for your links, and make sure your content is high quality, and you’ll see results in no time.

Make Money With PPC Advertising

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Make Money With PPC Advertising

Pay per click, or PPC advertising can be a great way to bring in some ad revenue with your website. In fact, PPC ads can help you make money in more ways than you probably realize.

A lot of people shy away from PPC ads due to the low payout per click they bring in. While that is a valid concern, there are things you can do to counter the low payout by snagging a high volume of clicks. A lot of people try to hid their ads so that they won’t offend their visitors. While that’s a nice idea in principal, in practice, it doesn’t work out well Most frequent internet users are familiar with ads, and they have come to accept that advertising is a part of visiting any successful website. As long as the ads don’t directly intrude on your website‘s usability, visitors won’t be offended. Also, the whole point of running ads is to have them seen by your visitors. If you tuck them off to the side, or near the bottom of your site, fewer people will see them, and as such, fewer people will click them.

It’s important that your users see your ads, but don’t overdo it . If your ads cover up your content and make your site unusable, new visitors will be put off by your site. Not only will they ignore your ads, but they’ll be way less likely to come back to your site in the future, and you definitely want them to come back.

Traffic is the most important factor in how successful your PPC ads will be. By writing high quality content, and working to bring more traffic to your site, you’re ensuring that more people will see your ads. If more people see them, more people will click them.

It’s also important to keep your ads relevant to your content. Services like Google Adsense automatically generate your ads based on your content, but there are many other PPC programs you can join that don’t. If you’re picking ads to display on your site, make sure to choose ads that will appeal to your users. If you have a website about movies, putting an ad for a Blu-Ray player on it is a great idea. Putting up an ad for a lawn mower is probably not such a good idea. While the lawn mower ad might have a higher payout, fewer people will click on it, and you’ll make less money over time.

By choosing your ads carefully, and placing them in prominent places on your site, you can ensure that your users will see, and click your ads. The more traffic you pull in, the more ad revenue you’ll see.
