More Online Reputation Tips

Building and maintaining a good online reputation for your company isn’t too difficult. It mainly revolves around using all of the available channels to make sure that positive information about your business and products appears in search results when someone looks up your company name on Google. Here is some more information on what you can do to make this all happen:

  • Update Your Site and Social Media on a Regular Basis

This is not only good for SEO, but will also help when potential customers research your company. Even if there isn’t anything new going on, you can always update your social media accounts by referring to your current product selection or promotions. This shows users that you’re actively involved in your business.

  • Link Your Business to Your Personal Social Media Accounts

People also want to know who is behind the company they’re dealing with, especially if they’re going to make a large purchase with you. When you post press releases or articles to directories, include some information about yourself and your role in the company. Also, add your company to your personal profiles on Facebook and LinkedIn. This makes it easier to see who is in charge of your business.

  • Get Your Products Reviewed by Experts

Having your products talked about in a positive way by industry experts, especially those who have a large following and are well respected for their reviews, is definitely something that can help you with your online reputation. It may not always be easy, especially if you’ve just started out, but if you know someone who does YouTube video reviews or who writes about certain products on his blog, having him review something that you sell will help reassure people that your products are of high quality.

  • Encourage Your Buyers to Leave Reviews

Link to reviews of your business and products on other sites. Encourage those who have done business with you to leave comments and reviews. You can also have a review section on each of your product pages, but having comments on external sites will be a lot more useful in gaining the confidence of buyers.

  • Monitor Your Reputation Actively

There are plenty of online services that allow you to get regular updates regarding what is said about your business online. Or, you could simply do a Google search yourself from time to time. Doing so will allow you to see how you’re doing and address any possible problems and complaints before they become problematic.

  • Be Easily Reachable

Ensure that your customers have ways to contact you should there be something wrong with a purchase they’ve made from you. Respond to their inquiries in a rapid and professional way. Take care to resolve any problem, no matter how small the amount involved is or whether you feel that it’s the buyer’s fault. This will reduce the chance of them complaining about the whole situation to other people online and will give you the chance to have a satisfied customer instead of a disgruntled one.

Building Your Online Reputation: Which Channels to Use – Part 2

Yesterday, we’ve seen some channels that you can use online to get your business a good reputation. There are a few others that you can use as well. Of course, you will need to adapt these to the niche that your business is in and not all may apply to you, but you should try to use as many as possible as it will reinforce positive information about your company online.

  • Discussion Forums and Online Bulletin Boards

Forums related to your industry are a great way to make your products and business shine online, by showing your potential customers that you’re active in engaging them and also available to quickly answer any questions. But you should remember to follow all the rules specific to the forum that you’re using. Spamming online forums is definitely not the best way to build your reputation online and will probably accomplish the exact opposite. The best way to use forums is to advertise in the “Buy/Sell” section, participate in general discussion and have your company website in your forum profile and signature. This can also help you get useful backlinks for SEO purposes.

  • Review Sites

There are plenty of business review sites that are specific to certain industries. Here you won’t have much to do, as it’s your customers that will be leaving reviews on them after they’ve made a purchase from you. What you can do, however, is to add your business to some of these sites and keep checking them regularly to see if users have posted comments.

  • Blogs

Having your own blog can definitely be a good way to help promote your business online, but when it comes to establishing your reputation, you can do a lot by participating in other people’s blogs. Leave comments that include a link to your website on blogs that are related to your line of business. You can also become a guest blogger on another person’s blog. This will get you a link to your website at the bottom of the post and will establish you as a knowledgeable person in your niche.

  • Press Releases

Online press release sites are quite good if you want your business to get more recognition. You can write a press release and submit it to several free sites when you do something new, such as opening up a new location or launching a new product. Those who search for your company or products that you offer online will see the press release under “News” results in Google and will often be interesting in reading more. In many press release directories, you can also include a link back to your main site, which again will be very helpful as far as SEO is concerned.

These are the main methods that you can use to establish a good reputation online. Tomorrow we will go into more details on how you can more efficiently use some of these channels.
