Which Tablet is the Most Popular?

It is of course no surprise that tablets are gaining a lot of popularity among consumers and therefore there will be a lot more traffic coming from these mobile devices. Increasingly, webmasters, online entrepreneurs and affiliates are making tablet friendly versions of their websites in order to increase conversions by ensuring that users get a page that displays properly on their device, thus boosting overall user experience. But which tablet is really the most used among consumers right now?

Recent numbers show that while Android based tablet devices are gaining a bigger market share day by day, there has yet to be a significant increase in web traffic from these devices. Therefore, as many could have guessed by now, the iPad is currently at the top of tablet generated traffic. Market Watch recently published the results of a study that was done by mobile publishing firm Onswipe. According to the report results, over 98 percent of tablet based traffic was generated from the iPad. This means that less than 2 percent of traffic is coming from other tablets. Other sources tell a similar tale. A Tech Guru study shows that 94% of all web traffic from tablet devices involves users with an iPad.

There are some other interesting facts that came to light with the study. Users on an iPad are a lot more likely to spend time on a web page. In fact, iPad users spend 56% more time on a site than iPhone users. This can be explained by the bigger screen and better suitability for web browsing of the device, which makes it more comfortable for users to actually spend time reading what’s on a page.

As for time spent using the device, the Kindle Fire from Amazon actually outranks the iPad. However, this shouldn’t come too much as a surprise to online marketers, considering the fact that the original Kindle was meant to be used as an e-reader to view books and documents, rather than as an internet browsing device. This is something that is still seen today. A lot of users who have a Kindle Fire use it to read books and online magazines and spend very little time browsing the web, even if the new version of the Kindle is in color and offers web browsing, plus integrated social networking functionality. Unless Amazon’s device gains a lot of market share in the near future, this isn’t expected to change much either.

What does all of this mean to marketers? Users of iPad tablets spend a lot of time browsing the web with their devices and it is rapidly becoming a replacement for the full featured PC in the hands of many users. Developing websites that are compatible with the iPad, as well as creating advertising campaigns that are focused towards the users of this tablet are some things that marketers can do to profit from it. Of course, it is possible that Android based devices may pick up some steam in the coming years, but for now, they still have a lot of catching up to do.

Content Marketing: What to Post and When to Post It

Content Marketing: What to Post and When to Post It

When it comes to content marketing, you may have heard that to achieve success with this marketing technique, you need to create content that will be popular with your audience all year round. That way, your content will never go “out of date” and will be relevant to the user no matter when they read it. But is this really the best strategy? It is possible to create seasonal content that will give you good results, all while retaining a base of content that is good all year round. Remember, search traffic follows certain established trends. So searches for Halloween costume ideas aren’t too high in January. But as October begins, they will start to pick up and eventually explode in popularity, only to taper down quickly as the holiday is over.

Research and Profit From Trends

In every industry, you will see certain trends when it comes to content. For example, on technology news websites, there will often be a lot of discussion and speculation some time prior to when a new smartphone is launched. Then, there will be the post launch talk when users and reviewers actually have the product in hand. After this, the volume of traffic related to the new smartphone will begin to go down. Of course, this applies to other things besides technology. Take sports, for example. During the hockey season, there will be various trends, such as anticipating who will make it to the playoffs, speculating which team is the most likely to win the conference final and lastly once the playoffs are advancing, there will be increased talk about who will be the most likely to win the Stanley Cup.

You Can Prepare Your Content in Advance

Not all trends are the same. Some aren’t really too predictable. For example, it will be hard to figure out what new things will come to tablet PCs next year, as it’s a fast paced topic. But some trends are cyclic and happen each and every year. The holiday shopping seasons will have similar happenings each and every year. After all, Santa Claus will still be a part of Christmas 2, 3 or 10 years down the road and people will still dress up for Halloween for as long as the holiday is celebrated.

This means that you can plan your content well in advance and get some ideas on what you will want to write about before the content becomes relevant. If you’re a company that provides accounting services, you can write articles related to tax preparation advice long before tax season and then simply publish them as the filing deadline approaches.

Preparing some of your content in advance can save you time, especially if your business is very busy at certain times of the year.

Profiting From Tablet Devices

Profiting From Tablet Devices

We‘ve seen how tablets tablets are becoming a lot more popular among the general population and new models, like the Kindle Fire are getting a lot of attention. Tablet PCs have actually had a run that is similar to smartphones. Previously a business tool that was used only by a segment of the population, they have now fallen into mainstream consumer devices, with all classes of people having an interest in owning one.

There are, of course, several different models of them on the market today, so if you want a comparison of their features and specifications, there is plenty of free information to look at. But as marketers and online entrepreneurs, what interests us mainly is the online money making opportunities that come from these devices. Actually, there are several ways that you can make money off the surge in popularity of tablets. Here are some of them:

  • Selling the devices themselves

If you look at eBay, for example, you will find that there is a large selection of tablets available, sometimes at prices that are better than what you would pay if you go through the official channels like in an Apple store. There is also a growing market for refurbished or used devices, as plenty of consumers would like to get a tablet, without paying the full price for a new one.

To profit from these, all you need is to find a source that can supply the devices at a low price and then you can resell them online (or even offline if you want) at a profit. There are now businesses which make money by buying back damaged tablets, fixing them and then selling them again as refurbished to budget conscious consumers.

  • Selling accessories and parts

Now that there is a bigger demand for tablets, there is also a bigger demand for items that are related to these devices. All kinds of cases and skins are now being sold to owners of tablet PCs. There is also a market for other aftermarket accessories like wall chargers, USB cables, innovative charging devices that let someone recharge their mobile device by using solar power and more.

Finally, just like with PC parts, we have tablet parts that are being sold, which are often bought by independent repair technicians, as well as some individual consumers that want to try and fix the device themselves after the warranty runs out. Most common parts that sell well online include replacement screens and batteries. Again, the simple concept of buying low and selling high applies. You check which items are in demand, find a good supplier that provides them at a lower price and then resell them at a profit through online marketplaces or an e-commerce site that you’ve put together.

There are a few other ways we can make money from tablet PCs. Check back tomorrow for a few other ideas that could let you make some money.

New Kindle Fire May Boost Popularity of Tablets

New Kindle Fire May Boost Popularity of Tablets

There has been some talk in technology blogs about Amazon working on a new smartphone that may be a viable competitor to the Apple iPhone. But for now, nothing has been made official yet and Amazon’s event focused on the Kindle without announcing a new smartphone.

Some new versions of the Kindle have been released, which aim to make the tablet even more popular than it is right now. Upgrades have been made to the 7 inch Kindle Fire, which is now priced at $159. The 7 inch Kindle is now available in HD at a price of $199, plus 2 new versions with an 8.9 inch display are available, one of which has 4G connectivity. This makes it quite obvious that Amazon is seeking to take some market share away from Apple in the tablet market. This seems to be working somehow, since the Kindle Fire is the second most popular tablet, after the iPad, of course.

If you want to see the specifications of the new Kindles and how they compare to the iPad, there are plenty of technology news articles that provide more details. What’s more interesting to us is the fact that tablet usage is growing and how one can profit from this expansion as a marketer or business owner.

Amazon’s strategy is to profit from content sales for their mobile devices. The company has even taken shots at Apple, saying that it’s better to try to make money by selling content than by making upgrades to hardware. And in a way, they are right.

The demand for tablet based content is expected to grow as an increasing number of people get a tablet of some sort, whether it’s the Kindle, the iPad or any other one. Publishing eBooks and selling them on the Amazon marketplace is still a popular source of revenue for many, especially amateur authors who are seeking to get their works read. But the written word isn’t the only type of content that consumers want. Multimedia content, such as video and apps are also in high demand. This explains why there is a lot of demand for developers who can make applications that will run on tablet devices. Productivity tools, games, communications programs and many other applications are being downloaded by tablet users.

These users also browse the web on their devices. Marketers need to take a look at some numbers and statistics, in an effort to see what web based content tablet users commonly seek out, how they behave with regards to online advertising and which products and services they commonly buy when using the web on their mobile devices. This will allow the creation of advertising campaigns that are specifically targeted to tablet users, as many advertising services already allow marketers to create specific campaigns that will show only to users of tablets.

The devices will change and evolve over time, just like the PC has changed. But one thing that will remain is that a new opportunity has been created for entrepreneurs and will remain there for quite some time.

Facebook Coming Down on Fake Likes

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Facebook Coming Down on Fake Likes

The amount of likes that a Facebook page receives is definitely the biggest way to determine its popularity with its targeted audience. There are plenty of ways to get more Facebook likes on your page, such as by including social media buttons on your main websites and blog, or including a link to your Facebook fan pages with the emails that you send. But there has been some controversy surrounding Facebook likes recently, which affected some corporate, as well as political pages.

The issue of fake Facebook likes has existed for quite a long time, but it seems that it’s only recently that it was given a good amount of attention by the social network. Facebook has released an update on their blog on August 31st saying that they are taking action to remove likes that are deemed to be fake. However, the numbers don’t seem to be too dramatic. The update states that less than 1% of the likes for any particular page will be affected.

This includes likes that were purchased, generated by malware, as well as those that were generated by users who were deceived into liking a page. The latter category is one that has been often discussed in online marketing circles. Certain video sharing sites were using scripts that would force a user to like the page before they could have access to the videos. This goes against the basic concept of the Facebook likes, which are meant to be given only once a user has seen a certain page and found the content to be worthy of being included on their page and shared with their friends. Other ways of deceiving users was creating fake contests or giveaways, where users were promised non existent prizes if they liked a certain page. Of course, the prizes never came and very often the pages were then used to send spam messages onto the users news feeds.

Many online marketing experts aren’t too surprised by this recent move by Facebook. It comes a few weeks after many major advertisers have questioned whether advertising on Facebook truly brings them any benefits for their business or brand. There has also been the issue of fake accounts being used to like various pages, or friend random people only to send them spam messages. It appears that Facebook is simply trying to clean up its service by removing elements that create a bad experience for the user, in addition to lowering the perceived value of the social network to its advertisers.

But this recent action isn’t really likely to have any impact on most people who use Facebook as part of their social media marketing strategy. You should just stay away from any services that promise to give you thousands of likes from “real” users in exchange for payment. Very often, these likes are generated by malicious means and even if the users were real people, chances are that they wouldn’t have any actual interest in your page.

Start Making Money With Blogging Today

Start Making Money With Blogging Today

Over the last few years, blogs have grown in popularity and it would seem that now everyone and their dog has a blog. If you check out some opportunities to make money online, you will see that there are many who claim that it is possible to make decent money by blogging. But is this really true?

In reality, it is possible for anyone, with little experience in the blog world to start earning money from blogging. But it may not always be as straightforward as many would think it is. If you want to make money from blogging, you will first need to be patient and learn how to do it properly. There are two main ways to make money from blogs. You can either have your own blog, or write for someone else’s. The second option is far more simple and can allow you to make money more quickly, so we will look into it first.

  • Ghostwriting

Here, you will be creating blog posts for someone that owns a blog and will be paid either as a share of the revenue that your blog posts bring in, or more commonly, a fixed price ranging from $3 to $50 for each post that you make. The blog that you write for could be an informative one, or it could be a businesses blog that serves mainly to promote the products and services of a certain company. Your posts will usually be published under the name of the blog owner or a pseudonym. If you want to get started with blogging quickly, then this is one of the fastest and easiest ways to make money from it. You can make some pretty decent coin if you are hired by numerous clients to update their blogs on a regular basis.

  • Guest blogging

This is similar to ghostwriting, in the sense that you will be writing posts for a blog that isn’t your own. However, there are a few differences. As a guest blogger, the posts that you make will usually be credited to your name, along with links to your own blog, website or social networking profiles. This allows you to gain some notoriety in the online world as people can more easily find the content that you have written online, even if it wasn’t published on a site that you own. If you create good content, it is also very possible that you will get regular assignments.

  • Other tasks that don’t involve writing

You can also make some money without having to create any written content. For example, someone could pay you to design logos and graphics for their blog. Or you could act as an administrator for one, uploading already made content at specified times, moderating and responding to comments left by visitors, keeping track of usage statistics, etc. You might also have the opportunity to take written content and to transform it into another type of media, like videos that will give a better explanation of what is being discussed.

Google Shutting Down Some of Its Products

Google Shutting Down Some of Its Products

Google, while famous for being the most popular and widely used search engine in the world, has plenty of other products that are used by millions of internet users around the world. Think of its other services such as Adwords, Gmail and of course the video sharing site YouTube that they own. But Google also has a few dozen smaller services that don’t enjoy such widespread popularity. And as of late, the company has been restructuring some of its offering and shutting down some of them, which have either outlived their usefulness, or simply don’t have enough users to make keeping them active worth while for the company.

One service that Google is planning to get rid of is iGoogle, a custom home page service where people could decide which information gets displayed when they open their browser. There is some speculation that the shutdown is simply due to the fact that the service dates from another era, where “portal” websites were all the rage and people liked to get news, email, weather, etc. all on one page as soon as they opened their browser. Remember that unlike most other search engines at the time, the main Google home page was very simple and not cluttered with different categories and elements like on Yahoo. Google will be getting rid of iGoogle on November 1st 2013, so the remaining users who find the service useful can continue to enjoy it until then.

Another Google service that will be axed is Google Video. It’s a simple video sharing service that has largely been replaced by YouTube when Google bought the. Many are surprised that Google hasn’t gotten rid of Google Video sooner, given the fact that new content uploads stopped being accepted back in 2009. If you still have some videos there, you should consider moving them to YouTube or another video sharing service soon, as it will be gone on August 20th 2012.

There are many Google products and services which have been discontinued in the past couple of months. Some examples include: Google Desktop, Google Pack, Google Gears, Patent Search and Google Friend Connect.

The good news for the users is that in many cases, the functionality provided by services that have been closed down or that will be soon have been integrated in another Google product. If not, chances are that there is another online service that can provide you with the same or similar features.

There is some speculation about why Google is launching and then shutting down so many products. Some comments from users say that the company is too busy trying to dominate every corner of the internet and have a service that can do everything imaginable. But even with all the investments made in research and development of new online products, there are those that simply don’t catch on, become obsolete or aren’t able to compete well with already established websites if the Google product doesn’t offer anything substantially better for its users.

Twitter Usage Increasing According to Recent Polls

Twitter Usage Increasing According to Recent Polls

In the world of social networking, Twitter has become a lot more popular in the last few months. The numbers are finally out regarding the usage of Twitter in the United States. A recent survey by the Pew Research Center shows that 15 % of adults that use the internet use Twitter. The amount of daily users is now standing at 8 %. This shows some growth when compared to last year’s numbers, which showed that 13 % of American internet users were on Twitter.

One of the possible reasons cited for the increase in popularity of Twitter is not any innovative changes or “super” features that were added to the social network. Twitter has always been, and still is, a Microblogging service where users can share short messages and stories, plus have the ability to link to websites, videos, pictures and other off site content. Rather, an increase of smart phone usage would explain Twitter’s growth. In fact, the way the microblogging site is designed makes it easy to be used on the small screen of a mobile device.

Young adults remain the biggest users of Twitter. Out of the people surveyed, 31 % of internet users between the ages of 18 and 24 reported using Twitter. In the 25 to 34 age group, that number is 17 %.

Global statistics show that Twitter currently has 500 million registered accounts and 140 million of those belong to users who log in to their Twitter account at least once a day. The social networking service remains popular all around the world, but the United States has the most registered Twitter users, at 110 million accounts.

Knowing that Twitter is gaining in popularity and remains big with the younger crowd is one thing. But many business owners and marketers are wondering whether this social networking site could be of any use to them. One of the best strategies is to simply add Twitter to your existing collection of social media accounts. In the world of social networking, integration is a good thing. Different networks that work in different ways don’t really compete with each other, but rather complement each other. This is why it’s very common to see YouTube videos being posted on Facebook, or Tweets linking to a Facebook page or post.

Evaluate how others in your industry are using Twitter to communicate with others or to promote their business. This will help you better understand the benefits that this network can bring to you. There are also plenty of free resources that you can find online which will help you develop marketing strategies specific to this microblogging service. The unique character of the website means that it may first take some getting used to when you’re figuring out how to promote your business with it, but as you go along you should realize that the site has great potential and can be a very valuable tool that helps you get your business the attention it needs online.

What Social Sites are Used by Marketers?

What Social Sites are Used by Marketers?

Are you using social media sites and want to know which types of sites are being used by other marketers today? Is Google + picking up steam or will it probably stay behind for a while? A study of over 3 500 marketers and business owners asked them what they use to market their business or products in the social media world. Here are the results:

  • Facebook: 92 %
  • Twitter: 82 %
  • Linked In: 73 %
  • Blogs: 61 %
  • YouTube and other video sharing sites (Vimeo, DailyMotion, etc): 57 %
  • Google + : 40 %
  • Photo and image sharing platforms: 21 %
  • Discussion groups and forums: 19 %
  • Social bookmarking and news sites: 16 %
  • Geo location services: 14 %
  • Daily deal-type coupon sites: 6 %

As we can see, Facebook is at the top. There’s no need to go into too much details as to why it’s there, as we all know that Facebook is currently the most popular social media site in the world and marketers tend to go where the most people are. After all, you wouldn’t install an advertising billboard in the middle of the forest.

But there’s not just Facebook in the social media world. Google + is starting to gain some steam, with 40% of marketers using it. Even though it had a slow and difficult start, it’s now beginning to attract more users, both consumers and businesses. In order to boost the network’s popularity, Google encourages users to visit it in different ways, such as by integrating Google Places with Google +. Marketers also have an interest in Google’s social networking service. 70% indicate they want to learn more about it and 67% are planning to increase their participation in it for the future.

Now let’s not forget that by “social media” we don’t just mean social networking websites such as Facebook, Twitter, Google + and LinkedIn. Other types of sites are “social” too, as they allow sharing and interaction between their users. This explains why many business owners and marketers also create videos to post on YouTube and maintain blogs where they provide industry news & updates, while giving users a chance to respond to the content in the comments section. Discussion forums could be an excellent way for a business to gain visibility in their industry through active participation in the forum, as well as using its advertising features such as signature links, “Buy/Sell” section, paid ads, etc.

Marketers and especially local business owners also need to be aware that there is a lot of traffic that can be captured from the smaller or more local sites too. For example, in the field of arts, video sharing sites like Vimeo and Daily Motion remain quite popular, even though YouTube is still the most popular video sharing sites. Understanding where your target market is online will be very helpful in getting your message in front of them.

Building Authority Through Social Media: What is It All About?

Building Authority Through Social Media: What is It All About?

Many people who have been following online marketing news for the past few weeks know that Google has stated that social linking will have an effect on how a page ranks in search results. This has of course, generated a lot of interest in the topic of social linking. Those who use social media already are wondering what they could do to integrate their SEO efforts together with social media. Those who don’t are now rushing to create accounts on Google +, Twitter and Facebook for their businesses and websites.

Search engines using the social media standing of a website as one of the factors in determining its page rank shouldn’t surprise anyone. Whether you like it or not, social networking sites have become a powerful tool where users share information with each other and this includes the websites that they’ve visited. It’s only normal that search engines look at how popular a site is getting on a social network.

Another word that is often used in online marketing circles is “authority”. Being an authority online means being a excellent source of information on a certain niche. An authority site is one that receives a lot of traffic and has shown that it can give users what they want on a consistent basis. This is different from a website that goes viral and gets a few hundred thousand visitors who go to it and look at a funny picture or video and then progressively disappear as the popularity fades away.

But how do you combine social media with your overall online marketing strategy and use it to truly become an authority in your niche? If you heard some self proclaimed gurus claim that they have a strategy to become an authority quickly and easily, then you should know they’re not telling the whole truth about the matter. Building an authority site is difficult and involves a lot of work. It also involves a lot of time. Remember, a site can’t be considered to be authoritative in its niche just because it receives a sudden spike in traffic over a few days. This popularity among visitors needs to be consistent. So you should opt for gradual growth.

What you want is for your content to be widely shared on social media by the user’s own actions. People have to come to your site, see some of the content and then decide to share it with others, giving an indication that they’ve found it interesting. Self-promotion efforts, such as linking to a blog post that you’ve made on your Facebook fan page, will not lead to your site being authoritative in itself. You can spend all day publishing news stories on your feed and providing links to every page on your site, but if nobody shares it, you’re really out of luck.

There’s a whole lot more to it and there are differences between the various social networks. Later, we will take a look at how you can leverage Facebook and Twitter to get your site the respect that it can have in the online world.

New Report Provides Information on Market Share in Search Industry

New Report Provides Information on Market Share in Search Industry

Now that the American economy has improved in the past few months, businesses are again increasing the amount of money that they spend on advertising. The trend that has been observed for the past few years is that businesses are now dedicating an increasing portion of their total advertising budget on internet marketing.

The reasons cited for an increased use of online marketing by businesses, both large and small is that advertising can be specifically targeted to the right demographic, meaning people who are more likely to be interested in what a company has to offer them. There is also the fact that return on investment can be measured in a more direct way. A company can make an advertising budget, then calculate how many sales have been generated as a direct result of its online advertising.

A recent report released by Five Star Equities also shows some information on market share in the online search industry. While the report is mainly aimed at investors who want to buy stocks, it can also be quite interesting for anyone that has an interest in online marketing.

According to the data collected, Google is, unsurprisingly, the leader in North America, having a 66.4 percent share of the market. The only place where Google arrives second is in China, where Chinese search giant Baidu has a share of 61 percent of the market and Google comes in second at 34 percent.

For North America, Google is followed by Microsoft at 15.3 percent and Yahoo at 13.7 percent. AOL currently as a very low market share at 1.5 percent. However, there is some data that suggests that AOL’s popularity may soon be on the increase. Sites which provide search services today actually need to provide more than just websites as search results. They allow users to search for images, videos, news, etc. All of the major search engine providers, Google, Microsoft (with Bing) and Yahoo provide additional services that aren’t simply a search engine. Google has a portfolio of services such as YouTube, Gmail, etc. Yahoo and Microsoft also have similar diversified services too.

In a bid to become more competitive in the online video world, AOL has recently launched a service called AOL On, which offers 14 premium video channels based on different topics and can now reach a larger audience of 57 million consumers in the United States. The video content provided by AOL can be used on different types of internet enabled devices, such as the “traditional” PC, tablets, mobile phones as well as web enabled TV devices.

However, this service is not unique in the online world. Google and Microsoft have also shown that they have an interest with online video and internet enabled TV services. How things will work out for AOL with their new product is yet to be determined for the future, so anyone interested in it can keep an eye out for online marketing news.

Simple Business Types You Can Start: Part 2

Yesterday, we’ve seen an example of a simple type of business that you can start online. The majority of easy to start online businesses involve either selling a product or providing some type of useful service to your target market. Here are some more examples of small online businesses that you can start:

  • Social Media Marketing Services

Social media has gained a lot of popularity in the past few years, so much that many businesses have seen it useful to build their presence on various social networking websites, such as Facebook, Google + and Twitter. Of course, there are still small businesses that, even though they may have an online presence through a website, don’t currently use social media even though it could be profitable for them. If you have knowledge on how to promote products, services and ideas through social media, you can offer your services to local businesses.

There are many types of services that you can provide. The most simple ones would be creating a social media page for your clients, filled with information about their business and products, and done in a style that matches their main website. You can also offer to manage the social media presence of a business entirely, by making the updates as well as creating events, groups, etc. when necessary.

  • Web Design and Web Building Services

Here again, you will offer your services to other small businesses in your area. You can offer to create web sites completely from scratch, or to update existing ones in order to improve their appearance. You can also offer to create mobile compatible versions of websites, which is something that is quite in demand lately due to the increasing use of smart phones by consumers to look for products and services that they want to buy.

In addition to designing and building websites, you can also offer additional services that will make you look more valuable for your clients. For example, you can offer to manage a website completely, by adding content and making updates when necessary. You can also provide your clients with web hosting services as part of your web design packages, which can simply be done by getting a reseller account with a good quality web host.

Naturally, you will need some good web design skills working with different software, plus graphic design skills would be useful as you can then create completely customized backgrounds, logos, etc. for your clients websites. Advertising can be easily done through free or low cost methods, such as on social media, through classified ad sites, forums, etc. If you do a good job and are priced competitively, you could also get some word of mouth referrals which will boost the amount of clients that you get.

These two are other examples of online businesses that you can easily start if you already have the right skills. There are plenty of other ways to make money online by starting a small, home based business. You just need to be creative in finding useful services that you can offer and that people would be willing to pay for.

Understanding how blogs work and the best kinds of content to add to one will make it more likely that your blog will appeal to its targeted audience. Here are some more tips that you can use in order to make your blog popular when it launches:

  • Understand That Blog Are About New Ideas

As such, keeping your blog updated on a regular basis will help you maintain your readership. Remember to keep the content original and fresh. Blogs aren’t only meant to be used as a reference tool on your niche, where you explain how to do certain things to your audience. Instead, include other types of posts, such as information on new events happening in your niche, as well as commentary on issues that you think are relevant. Your readers will enjoy having varied content to read on your blog a lot more than simply having one kind of article posted again and again.

  • Blogs Are Social By Nature

One thing that you need to know is that many of those that read blogs are also bloggers themselves. As such, if you write content that is good enough, you may have it syndicated on other blogs as well. There are many other opportunities for sharing and interaction with blogs. For example, allowing comments on your blog may add some useful content to it without you needing to take any action. RSS feeds allow readers to subscribe to your blog and be instantly notified if something new is posted. Also, adding social media buttons that allow people to like and share your blog posts is of course highly recommended, as it can increase your traffic and the popularity of your blog.

  • Your Blogs Headlines are Important

Creating compelling headlines for your blog posts is very important, especially if for when your blog gets indexed in search engines. The headline alone in that case could be the difference between someone reading your post and not reading it. There are many free guides and articles that you can find online about creating unique and captivating headlines, so it doesn’t have to be as difficult as it may seem at the beginning.

  • Organize Your Content Well

Content structure and organization are vital to a good blog. This can be achieved by dividing your posts into different categories. On the home page of your blog, you should make it as welcoming as possible to new readers, with your best content featured on the front page. Remember that the easier your blog is to navigate for your readers, the more likely they are to like it, come back to read it again and share it with others. Simply making it easier for them to find what they’re looking for can go quite a long way.

Building Links to Your Site: Which Content Works Best

We all want high quality back links to our website. But what kind of content do you need to add to it in order to make other people want to link to it? Getting natural backlinks from other sites that are interested in what you’ve put on yours is a great way to increase your SEO rankings. Remember, the more interesting and useful your content is, the more likely it is to draw attention and make other webmasters want to link to it. Here are some examples about the type of content that you can post on your website or blog:

  • Web based tools

Sometimes, a text resource or a video just won’t be the answer that someone is looking for. However, a web based tool might be the answer for them. For example, a simple tool that checks the keyword density of an article or website, or one that analyzes the SEO worthiness of a site, etc. If you don’t have coding experience, you can easily outsource the creation of a simple web based tool for less than $50.  If people find it useful, chances are they will link to it on their own site.

  • Flash games

Flash games are one of the pieces of online content that are the most linked to in the online world. This is simply due to their popularity. If you create an original game that plenty of web users find fun and entertaining, then there is a high chance that a lot of them will link to it.

  • Be among the first to talk about an issue

One of the reasons people get online is to find information about something that has happened recently in a niche that they’re interested in. Be among the first to post an article on your blog about the news. Offer some interesting commentary or analysis about it. If you do it right, then you can have a good amount of backlinks coming in to your website before you even know it.

  • Create a resource for beginners

No matter what your niche is, chances are that you can create a quick guide that will help beginners understand it and get on the right track. Some niche site owners may get questions from beginners but don’t always have the time to answer them or to write content that will address these questions. This explains why simple and informative beginners guides are linked to very often from other websites related to the niche.

  • Create content with long term potential

Not all the content on your website or blog needs to be related to new happenings or something that is popular now but will be forgotten in the next 2 weeks. Content that has long term popularity potential is simply content which will remain useful for years to come. For example, you can post information on how to fix common computer problems or advice on choosing the best hosting company for those who want to start a website. Posts that were written 2 or 3 years ago on these topics are still relevant and useful today, thus giving them the long term potential that they need.
