Why People Leave Sites Without Buying

We all know about how to bring in quality traffic to an online shopping website is important, as well as having good site layout and content that is supposed to make your visitors convert into buyers. We’ve seen many things about the reasons why so many people shop online and buy products from good online retailers. But what about those that leave a site without buying anything? There has been a few online surveys and studies on this topic and here are some of the most common responses given by online shoppers. Also, you will see ways to prevent this from happening to your visitors as well.

Site was slow/not working properly/not loading

This is actually one of the most common reasons as to why people abandon a website and move onto the next one. Having a site that is loading slowly, or is giving database errors all the time, or using a payment processor that’s giving customers trouble when checking out are all reasons as to why some leave a site without buying anything. Obviously, there are ways to prevent this from happening. Use a reliable hosting solution and an appropriate hosting type for your website. If you get thousands of visitors to your site a day, using a shared hosting account may not be the best. Make sure that all elements of your website work and use diagnostic tools that scour your website to make sure everything is in order.

Deceptive advertising/unclear promotion terms

When you advertise something that’s on your site, try to make the advertisement as clear as possible to prevent confusion. For example, putting “50% Off” prominently in an add and then omitting the fact that it’s only for orders of $200 or more is likely to make some visitors turn away, feeling that you lied to them. All this does is wasting bandwidth as many of these people who clicked on your ad would not have seen your site otherwise if they knew the promotion was only for orders of “$200 or more”. So make sure that your ads don’t mislead people into visiting your site. Doing so only generates bad traffic anyways.

Prices too high

This is a popular reason given by people especially those who are more conscious of their shopping budgets. To prevent this from happening, there are some simple steps that you can take. Look around the web and check out your competitors websites. See what products they have and what their prices are. This is a tactic used by many retail establishments as well as online commerce sites as well. If you see that a competitor offers better value, see if there’s something that you can do to beat what they’re offering.

Unclear product descriptions

If you’re selling physical items such as clothes, make sure you include high resolution, detailed pictures on your site. Also, for any product you sell, give all the details that are relevant, like sizes, technical specifications, uses and advantages of the product, etc. Visitors are more likely to buy a product if they have some information about it.

What Types of Sites to Use a Content Locker On?

What Types of Sites to Use a Content Locker On?

Previous, we’ve talked about using a content locker to make some money from CPA offers. Basically a content locker is an application which lets you require that users fill out a CPA offer before they can access your content, hence the name “content locker”. However, many webmasters wonder as to exactly what kind of site this type of set up would be appropriate for. Those who want to build a website may also want some ideas as to what kind of content you can put on a website to make it work well with this CPA tool.

Obviously, if you have an e-commerce site or a site, using a content locker would be quite dumb, since you want to make buyers jump through as few hoops as possible before they could buy something from you. However, if you have a site that provides content for free, then using one might be a good choice. Here are some examples of sites where such a tool would work quite well:

  • Free video game / arcade sites

These are websites where people can come to play free online video games, usually games made in flash.

  • News portals

Sites where visitors come to read some news, which can be general or which can be specific to a certain niche. It is much better if the news focuses on a specific niche or industry, as this will increase the number of visitors that actually fill out the offer rather than just click out and go get what they want somewhere else. Remember, there are plenty of general news sites, in fact there are hundreds of them. However sites that offer updates on a specific niche are fewer in number.

  • Templates / graphics sites

There are a lot of people who search the web looking for free images they can put on their site, or some free website templates that they can use on it. This is a great way to monetize such a site.

  • Ebook download sites

If you created an e-book and want to monetize it without actually selling it, you can use a content locker to require the visitor to fill out a CPA offer, and make a few dollars for you, before they can access the download link to get their e-book.

Some Other Considerations

Of course, these are just some examples of websites where such a tool can be used. There are plenty of other things that you can offer on your site as well. The key element here is that all sites that are suitable to use a CPA gateway with provide some kind of free content to the user.

There is also something else that you can do to monetize your site and that is require a small PayPal donation of $1 or $2 to access all the content without having to complete an offer. Some users may not want to fill out an offer over fears that they will get spammed, etc. However many of them wouldn’t mind paying $1 or $2, especially if they think that what you have to offer will be useful to them.

Online Reputation Management – Part 2

Online Reputation Management – Part 2

Previously, we have looked at why it is important to keep an eye on information posted about your business in the online world. The principal reason behind this is quite simple: not all of the stuff that will be posted about your company will be positive. Some of it could be complaints or dissatisfaction from your customers or members of the public. What is the best way to react to it? Here are a few tips:

  • Don’t try to remove negative information

Why? Simply because chances are very high that you will not succeed in doing so. Unless the information posted is libelous or is blatantly false, it will be very difficult to remove it from the internet as many websites, such as consumer advocacy and complaints boards have a policy of not removing content from their sites. You should also know that attempting to censor information can very well create a “Streisand Effect”, where doing so will cause the information you want to hide to actually gain much more popularity and thus spread even further on the internet.

  • Respond to complaints

Rather than trying to have them removed, one of the best ways to deal with complaints and negative information about your company is to actually respond to them. This can be done through various methods. Consumer advocacy sites give business owners the option of giving a “rebuttal” concerning any complaint posted about them. YouTube lets you create a video response to a video that was posted. On forums, you can join in on the discussion and make posts.

All of this will give you the chance to present your side of the story, ask for more information from the complainer to see what happened and reassure people online that you care about defending your company’s reputation.

It will also give you the opportunity to straighten out any potential incorrect information that was posted about your company and to further explain your products, services, policies and the way these work to your customers and other people in the online world.

Responding to complaints will show that you are interested in running a legitimate and honest business and not a fly by night company.

  • Fix the issue

Responding to complaints is of course an important step to take, but what is even more important is to fix the problem that was reported by the person who is dissatisfied with your business. In some cases it will be quite easy, while in others it will take some time and require you to negotiate with the customer to try and come to a solution.

In some cases, resolving the issue may not be possible, especially if someone is making unreasonable demands or doesn’t want to cooperate to resolve the problem. But in these cases, you will at least show that you have in good faith attempted to fix the problem and solve the issue at hand.

A Virtual Staff Can Propel You To Success – Part 1

A Virtual Staff Can Propel You To Success – Part 1

These days, there are many people who earn a living online through various ways. While there are plenty of methods that allow you to make cash online, providing services to businesses and other internet marketers is one of the top ways to get cash flowing in very quickly. There are a few reasons for this. Basically, there is a huge demand for services that help others market their products on the internet. You also have the advantage of being paid right away. No more waiting for months for affiliate checks to arrive in the mail.

If you would like to make money by providing services, there are plenty of things that you can do, such as:

  • Creating short online videos
  • Building Backlinks or other SEO work
  • Web page design
  • Article writing
  • Blog post writing
  • Sales page creation (copywriting)
  • Any other service that is in high demand and useful to those who conduct business online

Now, we all know that providing services to other participants in the online business industry is something that can bring in a lot of cash right away. So, why aren’t more people doing it? Do they not recognize the potential that it has?

Well, the thing is, many people recognize the potential. But there are two main reasons why they don’t take a piece of the profits:

  • Lack of time
  • Lack of necessary skills

The thing is, providing services online takes some time. Imagine if you have to write 50 blog posts each day for a client. This will require you to be at your computer almost 24 hours, even if you are a skilled blog post writer. While this would probably bring you a decent profit of around $200 to $300 if you made 50 blog posts, what draws people to the online marketing and work at home scenes is the ability to earn money without spending too much of your time working.

The other thing that keeps some people from this activity is the fact that they may not necessarily know how to provide many of the services that their clients would need. Sure, writing good articles and blog posts may seem easy to someone from the United States or the UK, but it won’t be that easy for someone who is from another country and can’t write in English very well. Someone could be very skilled at creating beautiful web pages, but could be a complete zero at making videos.

But there is a solution to both of these problems. If you look at ads on IM discussion forums for people who provide services to other internet marketers, you may notice that some of them seem to be taking in dozens of orders a day. There is just no way that one person could do all that in a single day. What they do is simple: they outsource their work to a virtual staff. Tomorrow, you will learn more about how YOU too can do just that.

WHY Do People Fail In Online Business?

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

WHY Do People Fail In Online Business?

They say most people who decide to build an online business end up failing. While there is no way to get the exact numbers, some estimate that over 75% of people who start an online business end up failing. Others put the numbers as high as 90%. If you are thinking of starting or expanding an online business, these numbers are not quite encouraging. They just might push you to think that there is no way to have success in the online world. Obviously, this is not true. Just like in any other business, there are some people who will do better than others.

Now the main question remains, WHY did these people actually fail. And did they really “fail” or simply gave up? Don’t believe for a second the “gurus” out there who tell you that people fail in IM because they didn’t know the “top secret success formula” that they are selling. This is simply a marketing tactic and nothing more. In the online world, there is no such thing as “lack of information”. In fact, there is plenty of information available out there, for free, to anyone that wants it. People can find free ebooks, guides, blog posts, videos, discussion forums, etc. where they can find all about online business methods, techniques and strategies. You just have to find the information and apply it.

But you have to ask yourself a question: are you an entrepreneur, or just someone looking for a quick buck. There are some differences between the two. The true entrepreneur will always look for ways to make their business achieve its goals and grow. He is willing to adapt to change and learn new ideas to make money. Someone thinking that internet marketing is about “making money fast from home” simply wants that: to make some money easily. The problem is, once they have made the money they needed this month to pay their bills or go shopping, they are happy. They stop. They don’t think of ways they can reinvest their profits to make even more money. What’s more, they don’t structure their business properly.

In the online world, diversifying your activities and having multiple backup plans available will make or break you. Bad things happen. Affiliate programs fold without paying members. Servers can crash. Products could lose their popularity, etc, etc. Someone who is actually building their online business understands that and will have multiple tools, strategies and income streams at their disposal so that they can continue operating no matter what happens. And if a project they are working on doesn’t give them the results they want, they ask themselves why. Then they apply the necessary corrections and try again, until they found something that actually works and let them achieve their goals with regards to the income they want to generate.

Why Is It Hard To Succeed With An Online Business?

Starting a new online business can be tough. We’ve covered some of the things you will need to do, and some concepts you’ll need to keep in mind, now let’s take a look at some of the challenges you’ll face.

Tedium

Many of the tasks you’ll have to complete for your online business are extremely tedious. Keyword research, copy writing, and setting up a website all take a great deal of time to execute. None of the tasks you’ll have to do are terribly difficult, but most of them take up a good bit of time. It can be difficult to stay focused on tedious tasks, especially in the beginning. When you’re first starting out, the rewards for your efforts won’t be clear, and it might feel like you’re doing a lot of work for a little yield. It’s important to push through this part of the process.

Profits

In the beginning, you’re not going to make a lot of money. In fact, you might go as much as a month or two without bringing in a single penny. One of the main reasons why people fail with online businesses is that they give up when their new business isn’t profitable right away. It’s important to keep going even if you’re not seeing a monetary reward for your efforts. If you keep going, you’ll get to a point where you’re profiting.l If you quit, you’ll never make a dime.

Learning Curve

While most of the tasks involved in running an online business are pretty straightforward, a lot of the knowledge necessary to perform those tasks effectively is not. There are a lot of new terms,a nd concepts to learn about when you’re starting out with an online business, and if you don’t take the time to do the learning, you’re just setting yourself up for failure down the line.

Starting a new online business can be very challenging. The secret to success is persevering through the hard parts, and making your way through to a time when it gets easier. The key to online success is sticking with it. The challenges you’ll face early on might make you feel like you should give up, but if you don’t stick with it, you can’t succeed with it. Hang in there, and you’ll see the rewards before you know it.

Making Money Online In a Bootstrapped Budget

Making Money Online In a Bootstrapped Budget

Many people hear about other people that make money online without spending a single penny, and jump right into it with no preparation, and then wonder why they fail.  Then, they also proceed to tell the lie that making money online without spending anything first is impossible.  Well, they are dead wrong.  You can definitely make money online without spending anything, and it all starts with a simple plan.

Your plan doesn’t need to be elaborate, but it must include goals.  Your goals must be designed to help you spend your limited time in the most effective and efficient ways possible.  90 day plans are the most common, and seem to have the most success.  They allow for enough time for you to accomplish what you need to, without giving you too much time, or rushing you.

In order to obtain your goals effectively and efficiently, you should work backwards from them, and form a checklist of what needs to happen in order for you to reach your goals.  This checklist can be as long and as detailed as you need it, or as short and vague as you need it.  It depends on what you need to be successful.  Remember, the amount o detail someone puts into their plans may not be right for you, and vice versa.  This checklist is going to be the strategy for your plan, so make sure you do a good job on it, otherwise your plans with fall through, and your goal will become unattainable.

After creating your checklist, be sure to analyze each step, and how long it will take, and give yourself a fair amount of time for everything.  Giving yourself too long will result in you probably becoming distracted, while giving yourself too short of a window will cause you to miss deadlines and become discouraged.  Once you know how long it will take, create a schedule, and get started.

There are many free programs out there, and free services, which, if taken advantage of properly, can result in you making money without spending anything.  It all relies on you sticking to your plan, though.  If you cannot stay on a schedule you created yourself, how can you make money doing anything? Let alone on the internet.  All you have to do is complete your tasks on time, and treat yourself like your own employee, not your own boss.  This way, you will be under pressure to reach your deadlines, and everything will work out, resulting in free money.
