Payment Method Choice is Very Important in E-Commerce

One thing that any online merchant needs to pay attention to is the trends in payment methods available to online shoppers. In the e-commerce world, payment by credit card is and has always been the champion. The main reason behind this is that for many decades before the internet became widely used in the world, mail and telephone order payments were usually done by credit card, so it seemed just logical that this would be a solution used in e-commerce as well. There have been many advances in payment methods for online orders in the past few decades. Let’s examine credit card payments and other methods of payment that you may want to accept as an e-commerce site owner.

Credit Cards

Pros: Simplest payment method to use for many buyers.

Many solutions for merchants to accept credit cards, offered by banks or third party payment processors.

Increases in security have made credit card transactions safer for both merchants and consumers.

Cons: Potential for losses due to fraudulent orders depending on type of merchandise being sold.

Processing fees could be high, ranging from 2 to 5% of transaction.

Check/Money Order

Pros: Safer than online credit card transactions.

Better suited for large transactions.

Cons: Forged and fraudulent payment instruments still a possibility.

Long wait to clear checks in certain jurisdictions.

Delays in sending payment mean that customer may change their mind about order or find a competitor in the meantime.

Bank Transfers

Pros: Various systems exist in many parts of the world allowing for online bank transfers to be made to merchants.

Can be processed instantly, just like credit card payments.

Lower fraud rates.

Cons: Accepting electronic bank transfers from many different countries means merchant may often have to sign up for several different payment processors.

E-Wallet Services

Pros: Instant payments and fraud reduction measures.

Convenient for the customer.

Cons: Several different solutions exist (Paypal, Moneybookers, etc) meaning that merchant must again sign up with each of them.

Some e-wallets are only available in certain countries.

Virtual Vouchers

Pros: Treated like cash, making chargebacks impossible in many cases.

Convenient for consumers located in geographic areas where few other payment options exist.

Cons: Popularity limited to a few countries, mostly popular in certain parts of Asia and Africa.

Processing different voucher systems could be cumbersome for merchant.

Mobile Payments

Pros: Instant and convenient for consumer, billed directly to mobile phone account.

Popularity growing nearly everywhere in the world.

Cons: Fees charged by payment processors to accept payments are very high, due to commissions charged by the processor, carrier and in some cases intermediaries.

Restrictions on maximum payment amount makes this type of payment suitable only for small transactions.

These are some of the main payment methods used in e-commerce transactions in today’s world. If you’re curious about whether implementing a mobile payment solution for your e-commerce site would be a good idea, check back tomorrow as we will go into more details about this relatively new method of payment so that you can see whether it’s appropriate for you.

Using Yahoo Answers To Get Free Traffic

Using Yahoo Answers To Get Free Traffic

As we all know, traffic is king in the internet marketing world. No traffic to your site equals no money for you, since there is no one visiting your site. There are various ways that you can use to get traffic to your website, but many webmasters are looking for free traffic. Is it even possible? Don’t you need to spend money in order to make money? Well, thanks to the power of the internet, it is possible to get free exposure for your site and thus draw visitors to it.

Yahoo Answers is a very good way to bring people to your website. For those of you who don’t know, Yahoo Answers is a place where people ask questions about various topics and others give them answers. The good thing about this platform is that you can insert a link to your site in your answer. Also, the site gets a lot of traffic from all around the world. What makes it a great marketing tool is that anyone can see the questions and answers, not only the person who asked the question.

But in order to stay out of trouble and get the maximum benefit from Yahoo Answers, you need to conduct your marketing activities properly. Remember, this is a place where users seek information. They don’t come to Yahoo Answers in order to be bombarded with commercial advertisements. After all, if someone wanted that, all they have to do is to open up their “Junk Mail” folder in their email account, there’s plenty of ads there all right.

When you answer a question, be sure to state some useful information and not just say “Here go to this website NOW!!! (your link)”. For example, if someone asks whether online surveys are legit or a scam you would say something like “While there are a few scam sites out there, most online survey sites are legit and pay you either in cash or by giving you stuff like gift card, I found a list of legit survey sites that are free to join here: (your link)”. It is better for you to build a landing page, rather than insert affiliate links. This will seem a lot less suspicious to Yahoo.

To stay below the radar, vary your answers, don’t simply copy and paste the same answer to everyone, even if the question is the same. Give answers in different topics as well, without inserting any links. Even if the site you are promoting is related to online surveys, for example, answer some questions about other things such as dogs or computers or whatever else you may know about as well. This will make it look like you are a legitimate contributor, rather than someone who is just answering questions related to their niche to get clicks to their own site. You should give more answers without your link than those with it.

The traffic that you will receive may start slowly, but if you keep at it you will soon get enough visitors to make some decent commissions or sales each month.

An Overview Of Some “Make Money Online” Ads You Will Come Across – Part 1

An Overview Of Some “Make Money Online” Ads You Will Come Across – Part 1

When you are seeking for ways to make money online, chances are you will be bombarded with advertising for many different earning methods. And of course, the majority of these will require you to spend some money in order to join the program or “unlock the top secret power to become rich”, etc. Here is an overview of some of the most common ads related to money making found online and the truth behind them.

“Single mom makes $600 a day with Google!/Earn $500 an hour online!/Join my top secret money making club, etc”

These are advertisements for either electronic guides (also called ebooks) or membership sites which show you information on how you can earn online. Due to the fact that the offers are varied (there’s thousands of them out there), it is not possible to make a judgment as to whether the information found in each one of them is valid or useful. In general, they will show you some ways that are used to generate some income on the internet. Here are some things that they conveniently fail to mention or hide deep in the fine print of their site:

  • It’s not easy. People who earn impressive figures online have spent countless hours building up their business ad still need to work several hours a day to run their online business.
  • You will probably need to invest money (and may lose it). While it IS possible to start a online business with little or no money, if you hope to earn any significant amount you will need to put up your own funds.
  • The earning figures are exaggerated. The chances that you will be earning anything remotely close to what was advertised during your first attempts are quite remote themselves.

Furthermore, many of these are “trial” offers. You are told that you can access the site right away for just $1.97 or some other small amount. What is buried in the fine print is the fact that if you fail to cancel your subscription to the site within a certain period (varies between 3 days and 2 weeks), you will be charged the full amount which ranges anywhere from $30 to $100 a month. Sure, you can call to cancel, but be prepared to wait on hold, then sometimes have a rep try to “retain” you as a member of the site by trying to talk you out of canceling, offering you a discount or a “super exclusive bonus just for you because you are such a great person”.

Once again, not all money making guides or membership sites are inherently bad. Just make sure you know what you are getting yourself into. If you pay for something, make sure that there is a money back guarantee that you can use if you are not satisfied with the product. If you sign up for a trial offer, find the number to call if you want to cancel and make sure that this number actually works.
