Mobile Apps Are a Profitable Business

When it comes to making money online, there are certainly hundreds of different ways to make this happen. But if you have coding experience, it may be even easier for you to pull in some profit. Sure, you can freelance and help others develop applications, but wouldn’t it be better if you could create your own apps and make money from them? Who knows, you might create something that will be liked by millions of users.

The possibilities are endless as far as app types go. Remember, what you create doesn’t have to be particularly advanced or even too useful. You could make an app whose only purpose is to play animal sounds and still get hundreds of thousands of downloads.

If you’re new to mobile app development, there are plenty of resources that will help you get started out rather quickly. You can find guides, as well as software development kits for both the iOS and Android platforms. Now that an ever increasing amount of people own a smart phone or tablet device (many times they have both), there has never been a better time to get in and start cashing in on this new trend. All statistics show that the number of downloads for mobile applications is only expected to grow.

But how do you actually make money from the apps? There are two ways. The first one is to charge people a fee to purchase your app, which is often relatively small, usually ranging from $1 to $5. But this may not always be the best approach, especially if you’re new to the game and people don’t really know who you are or what your app is supposed to do.

There are other solutions in that case. You can release the app for free and still make money from it, by embedding mobile ads in it. These can either be links to affiliate offers, or ads that pay you for each click or impression. However, remember not to over do it. Remember that mobile screens are small and nothing ruins the user experience more than an app which has ads that cover nearly half of the screen.

You can also do a combination of both. This is often called the freemium model and is used by some of the best app developers in the world. You release one version of your app for free, which has basic features. A “pro” or advanced app is also made, but this version has a small cost. You can entice your users to upgrade to the paid version by offering more functionality as well as reminding them that the paid version doesn’t display any ads.

If you’re thinking of joining the market, be sure to do some research first. Look at some success stories, but also some failures and problems that other developers had. Try to find a specific niche and an idea that is truly original. The apps that were the most successful are usually those who were the first to offer something which wasn’t previously available.

Why SEO Isn’t Going Away Any Time Soon

Why SEO Isn’t Going Away Any Time Soon

With changes to search engine algorithms, as well as a myriad of other changes in the way that search engines such as Google rank websites, some are arguing that SEO is “dead” for internet marketers. Is there any sort of truth behind these claims?

If you examine most of the articles, press releases and blog posts that claim that SEO is going away, you will quickly find what the author’s intentions are. Usually, they want to create an “alarmist” title to draw the user’s attention, then make some vague arguments as to why SEO won’t work for you and of course, you usually end up with an advertisement for some kind of product, system, guide, etc. which will supposedly magically bring you traffic to your site without doing any search engine optimization work on it.

One of the main reasons why SEO isn’t going anywhere is that it’s an industry that is too profitable. Search volumes are higher than ever. There are now hundreds of thousands of service providers which work in the search engine optimization industry. This includes “general” online marketing firms, to more specialize businesses that help certain types of websites rank well in search results. Not to mention the millions of freelancers that also help with SEO (often unknowingly), such as article writers, web page designers, etc. Companies are willing to spend money to rank well on search engines and there’s millions of dollars spent on that each and every year.

Those who complain about SEO are often those who did something wrong and got their websites penalized after yet another Google update. But you rarely hear webmasters with years of success and a constant stream of traffic complaining about it. Updates made by search engines to the way they rank their search results have nothing to do with them wanting to “penalize” some affiliate marketer who made $35 last month pushing some dubious weight loss product. Rather, it’s all about the user.

Nobody wants to search for specific information, only to be presented with search results that are little more than thinly veiled advertisements for commercial products. Nobody wants to look through blog comments to see what other users have had to say about an interesting article they’ve read only to see a hundred comments saying “Nice site!” and stuffed with a link to some scammy get rich quick scheme. The changes that search engines make encourage webmasters, marketers, product sellers, etc. to make the web a better place. They can still sell their products and promote their offers in places where it’s appropriate. They can still run any type of website that they want, but if they want visitors, they need to have a site that runs well and provides their users with something that will actually be useful for them.

SEO is here to stay. The methods used for it, however, will evolve and adapt themselves. Those who are truly skilled in internet marketing will see this as a normal part of the game, as a challenge to take, rather than a threat to their bottom line.

Are MLM Opportunities a Good Way to Earn Money? Part 2

Are MLM Opportunities a Good Way to Earn Money? Part 2

We have previously seen some of the drawbacks of taking part in an MLM program. While there are some ways to make money from such MLM activities, there are a few obstacles that you would need to overcome before you are able to profit from them. Here are some more:

* A lot of competition both online and offline

The thing about any type of MLM system is that you will not be the only one promoting it. This is especially the case if you will be using the internet to get leads in order to recruit participants. Simply search for the name of your program on Google. You will come up with thousands, sometimes even hundreds of thousands of results. You will see reviews, lead capture pages, information about the program, as well as thousands of different websites set up by individuals who are promoting the same offer than you. While many programs will give you access to a pre built website that you can use to get leads, simply using that will not be enough, unless you have gotten in really early and are among the first ones to push that particular program. If your website is very similar to others with the same search terms, you will simply not be able to rank very high in natural search results and will need to resort to other means of marketing your offer online in order to get the results that you wanted.

The “offline” world is not quite different. Almost every person has had a friend, family member or even complete stranger try to solicit them to join an MLM opportunity in the past. There are plenty of “Make Money Working From Home” ads in newspapers as well. Therefore, once again you will need to be quite creative in your marketing approach if you would like to stand out from the crowd and get your ads noticed to get you the leads that you are looking for.

* Being Successful with an MLM Program is Not Easy

Even though the advertising materials for them often tell you a different kind of story, being successful with an MLM program will take countless hours of hard work developing your business. Because after all, this is exactly what you will be doing: building a business. You will need to find people who will buy your products, as well as find ways to market these products successfully. You will also need to get people to join in the offer and become distributors just like you. While it looks like all you need to do is to create a pre-fab website and then let the prospects come to you, this is not how it works in real life. You will need to find ways to advertise, get leads and then spend time communicating with these leads by phone, email and sometimes even give presentations in person if you would like to recruit enough people to make you some good money in the end.

How to Keep Your Google Adwords Account Safe

How to Keep Your Google Adwords Account Safe

Now in the past few months, there have been plenty of internet marketers complaining about their Google Adwords accounts being banned. Of course, we’ve explored some alternative PPC services, but there are still many people who prefer to use Adwords for various different reasons. Recent banning of Adwords accounts came as a surprise to many online marketers, many of who have PPC as their main source of revenue and who have spent tens, or even hundreds of thousands of dollars on traffic coming from Adwords. Of course, the lesson would be not to put all of your eggs in the same basket. But how would you prevent having the ban hammer falling on your account? It is actually not that hard. Here are some ways:

  • Obey the terms of service and any information on the Google Adwords website

If you don’t do this, you will get banned. Maybe not right away, but you probably will. Familiarize yourself about what is, and what is not allowed on Adwords. The excuse of “I didn’t know it was against the rules” will probably not work.

  • Don’t use fake review sites, or fake blogs commonly known as “flogs”

These types of sites are quite popular with re bill offers, in the weight loss and make money online niches. While we will not get into a debate about the ethics of the offers and ways of promoting them, the main issue important for you is not to use fake review sites with Adwords. Google doesn’t like them and will probably ban you if you use them on their network. And no, including a “disclaimer” in gray 5 point type at the bottom of the page saying “The reviews, testimonials and people appearing on this site are fake, this is just an ad meant to sell stuff to you” will not protect you. Some have tried and in the best case they were told to stop running this campaign. In the worst case they were issued a life time ban from Adwords.

  • Be careful about which kinds of affiliate offers you promote

Google has recently starting coming down on pretty much any rebill offer, mainly because of the flurry of complaints about people not knowing they would get charged, or the actual terms of the offer being obscured and hard to read. Recently, Google has started banning all those who “ride on their coat tails” by promoting re bill offers in the make money online niche which make use of their name or logo. All of these “Google pays me $100 an hour!” types of sites are now banned. If you want to run such campaigns, you need to do so elsewhere. Obviously, the response from Google could be quite well understood, as these sites create a false impression of association with them. Google has also stated that sites which make “unrealistic promises”, such as “make $10 000 a week sitting at home!” or “lose 25 lbs a day!” are not allowed.

Some More Monetization Options For Your Blog

Some More Monetization Options For Your Blog

If you are creating a blog, there are various ways that you can monetize it, which simply means to make money from it. Yesterday, we have seen the two easiest and most common ways of making some profit from your blog, which are inserting pay per click ads on it, as well as putting up a donation button. But there are two other options worth mentioning. While they may be a bit more complex, they are still being used by plenty of bloggers out there and can be extremely profitable.

  • Putting up affiliate ads

The basic concept behind affiliate marketing is that you get paid a certain commission when someone clicks on an ad on your blog and either buys something, or performs a specific action such as signing up for a website. Unlike pay per click ads, you do not get paid for every click that the ad receives from a visitor.

When it comes to affiliate offers, in order to get the most success, you should use offers that are closely related to the theme of your blog. So if your blog talks about cars, for example, you could put ads for car insurance companies, which typically pay you whenever someone requests a quote from the insurance company. You can also participate in the Amazon Affiliate Program. Amazon.com is one of the world’s most popular online retailers and they sell hundreds of thousands of items in different categories. So if your blog talks about photography, you can put up some ads for photo cameras from Amazon. If someone clicks on the ad and makes a purchase, you will receive a commission based on the amount of the total sale. Remember that in order to make the highest amount of money possible, the affiliate offers that you promote on your blog should be related to its content.

The more “generic” ads such as the “shoot 3 ducks and get a free iPhone!!” banners are best avoided, since many of your readers have probably already seen them and will simply ignore them. While you can put some affiliate offers that aren’t really related to the niche of your blog, doing so is not recommended since your readers are far less likely to even click on these ads in the first place.

  • Selling your own products

This can be a good monetization option if you produce your own products, or you simply own an e-commerce site that sells certain items that could be of interest to your readers. For example, if you have a blog about technology and at the same time, you sell video game consoles and computers on eBay, you can put an ad for your eBay page inviting users to visit your online shop. To make it even more attractive for them, you could even offer a special discount code for readers of your blog. This can be a very profitable monetization choice, but of course you would need to be already involved in some form of e-commerce for you to make use of it.

Full Time Online Business: Getting Ready

Full Time Online Business: Getting Ready

Previously, we have seen some of the things that you can do to earn money online if you wanted a micro or mini online business. This would allow you to earn a part time income or some extra cash from your online marketing activities. While this might be satisfactory for some of you, what about those who would like to make more money, like a full time online business.

Of course, this is possible and has been done by many other people. Some regularly make six figures a year online. Some have even made millions. While doing this kind of money is definitely possible, it is not something that is easy to accomplish, no matter what you have heard. Sure, some of the tasks to do this may be “simple” from the technical point of view, but doing them correctly will still require some time, effort and commitment from you.

We will get into various methods to make money as part of a full time online business, but first let’s discuss some of the things that you will need in order to get started:

  • Time

Running a full time online business will mean that you will need to spend at a minimum 30 hours per week on it. This is the bare minimum and depending on what you do, you may need to work more than that.

  • Money

While there are certain types of business that can be started with little or even no money, this is the exception, rather than the rule in terms of full time online business. But it doesn’t mean that you will need hundreds of thousands to get started, either. You can start up slowly, and then use the money that you have made to grow your business. Basically, if you don’t have too much start up funding, you will need to be able to reinvest the profits that you have made at the beginning right away.

  • The understanding that you will start out slowly

Many people would like to make $1000 a day from the very first day they have started their business. Of course, this is possible. Pretty much everything is in the online world. But this is an exception again. You need to accept the fact that it will take at least a few weeks, sometimes a few months, for your business to grow to the point where you will be truly making the amount of money that you had hoped for. Online business, while often very profitable, is not a get rich quick scheme. Those who think of it in this way are the first ones to get discouraged after they realize that becoming an instant millionaire is nothing more than a fantasy.

  • Willingness to learn, take risks and experiment

You must be capable of learning on your own and be willing to try new methods and techniques to make money. You need to put the fear of failure behind you, otherwise you will never succeed.

Why Many Internet Marketers Give Up

Why Many Internet Marketers Give Up

If you look at information on internet marketing, you will find plenty of success stories coming from people who have “made it” in this industry and who have made very good amount of money in online business. But what about those who haven’t? Let’s take a closer look at what causes many online marketers to simply give up rather than want to do everything they can to make their business succeed.

  • They Set Their Income Expectations To An Unrealistic Amount

Advertisements for IM products are partly to blame for this one. They show money falling out of the sky, flashy cars, big houses, etc. All of that, with promises that you can make thousands of dollars every single day. While these amounts are achievable, after all, some people have made millions on the internet, they are not what you will be earning when you start. Every business starts out small and brings in a modest amount of profit at the beginning and the online business world is no different.

  • They Thought Everything Was So Easy

Again, ads for products that teach IM methods are partly to blame for this. They use language like “all you have to do is put up a few ads on Google each day and you might make thousands!!” Well, this is technically true. You CAN make thousands by putting up a few ads on Google. But then again, you need to know which products to promote, what to write in the ads, what keywords to select, etc. And this requires work and dedication. When some people realize that actual work will be required, they seem to back out of the deal rather quickly, instead of actually giving it a shot to see what works and what doesn’t.

  • They Thought That You Would Never Have To Invest Any Money In Their Business

Some people come to internet marketing thinking that since this is the “virtual world” starting a business that will bring them hundreds of thousands a year in “real” money will not require them to spend anything. When they realize that they will need to spend a few dollars on domains, hosting, advertising, tools, etc. they once again run away thinking that this must be some kind of scam or conspiracy to get them to lose money. The funny thing is when you consider that those people are not unable to get the cash necessary to start their business. They are rather unwilling to invest in it. And if you look even closer, very often you will find that the people who complain about having to pay $10 for a domain would not think twice about spending $2000 on a vacation trip, or would run to the mall to buy a $300 pair of shoes that they would wear a few times only. While there are ways to cut down on your initial expenses, if you want your business to grow then you MUST invest some money in it at some point.

3 Ways to Make Money Blogging

3 Ways to Make Money Blogging

Making money while blogging is a great sounding idea, but it is even harder to put into practice. Writing takes time, dedication, and creative thoughts. Then there is the promotion, networking, social networking, blog design, and blog maintenance to keep up with. The other areas take away from the core of writing for a purpose and should be the secondary thing after your content. If you write an article per day, do that first, then promote and maintain second. Great content is still king.

Making money should be the next thing to worry about – after you do the other stuff and after you have some great content. There are plenty of ways to make money from your blog, such as advertising, but today we are going to touch on three very different ways you can make a great profit from your website. Most professional bloggers do at least one of these, allowing them to rake in sometimes hundreds of thousands of dollars per year. But don’t worry, most of us aren’t that lucky. Being able to break even on a blog is a great start, then after that focus on paying for your gas every week for your car. Once you have reached that, try to pay for your cellphone bill and gas. Keep moving up until you have scaled to the point you want to be at that you can maintain while staying sane. With that, let’s look at 3 ways to make money blogging.

Affiliate Revenue
Signing up to be an affiliate for products that are close to your niche can be a great way to create some income. You can promote established products and link to them from your blog. You will receive a portion of the sales of those products when someone visits and purchases the product from your affiliate link. This is a great way to get your feet wet before trying to create your own products. A good example is Copyblogger.com where he promotes professional blogging software such as Thesis theme.

Create a Product
Creating your own product related to your niche is a great way to make a lot of money, especially if you have a big audience of 2-3k unique visitors per month. Create an enticing ebook, membership site, or video series and promote them on your blog and through affiliates on other websites.

Write for Someone Else
If you are just getting started, don’t be afraid to write for someone else so that you can start getting some income right away. It will help offset your startup costs and give you some real cash to spend.
