When you see a sales spike, there’s usually a reason for it, and that reason might be your social media marketing efforts.

Incoming Traffic

Every traffic monitoring utility on the market will show you where your traffic is coming from. Pay close attention to how many visitors to your site show up from social media sites. Direct traffic isn’t the only mark of social media success, but if your sales go up as your direct traffic from social media goes up, there’s a strong chance those things are related.

Activity

Track all of the activity coming into your social media accounts. Pay close attention to how many new friends you get each month, how many messages you get, and how many wall posts, and @replies you receive. Social media is great for raising your brand awareness, and if you see an increase in these activities, then people are becoming more aware of you and your brand. If you see an increase in sales around the same time you see an increase in these activities, then there’s a good chance that the brand awareness social media is bringing you is paying off.

It’s hard to track the effectiveness of a social media marketing campaign, but it’s not impossible. Pay attention to your sales, your traffic, and your social media activity, and you’ll be able to draw solid conclusions about how effective your social media marketing campaign is.

As for prints, your best bet is to set up an Etsy store. Etsy has a great community of both sellers, and customers. It’s easy to set up an Etsy store, and have it become profitable.

Writing

If you can write, you can bring in some money on the internet. A lot of different websites are looking for writers, and if you can’t find a site that’s hiring, you can always list your services on a site like oDesk, or Elance. Fiverr can also be a great place to find clients – just offer up one article for $5, and see if anyone takes you up on it. Once you get a client on Fiverr, there’s a good chance that they’ll keep coming to you for work over time.

Other talents can be turned into profits on the internet. Take the time to do some research about your hobby, and see if there’s any way you can do it professionally. If there’s a market for it, you can make money on the internet with your hobby.

If they want your money, chances are they don’t intend on giving you any of theirs.

Get Rich Quick

If any company is promising that you’ll make a huge amount of money in a short time, there’s a good chance they’re lying to you. There just aren’t any easy and quick ways to get massive amounts of money, other than winning the lottery of course.

There are a lot of scams on the internet, but don’t let that discourage you. There are also a lot of great ways to make money online. Just keep these things in mind when considering an online money making opportunity, and you’ll be able to spot, and avoid the scams.

Find Your USP


We talk a lot on this site about finding your niche, and understanding who you’re marketing your product to, so there’s a good chance you probably have a good idea of who your niche is. You might know your niche, but do your know your USP?

Your USP is your Unique Selling Proposition, or Unique Selling Point. Each time you talk to your customers in any way about your product, you’re making a proposition to them. By talking about your product and it’s benefits, you’re essentially making a sales pitch. You’re trying to convince your customers that they should buy from you instead of someone else. When you’re trying to convince your customers to buy your product, your sales pitch should be different in some way from your competition’s pitch. That way, you can set yourself apart from the competition in some meaningful way in the eyes of the customer.

Take a look at your competitors, and their sales pitches. Look at their TV or radio commercials, internet ads, billboards, Facebook pages, Twitter accounts, and websites. Think about how they are positioning their product, and what selling points they’re pushing. Now think about what you can do differently. If you sell energy drinks, and all of your competitors are pushing the high levels of caffeine in their product, consider pushing how cool and refreshing yours is.

It’s also important to keep an eye on what your competitors are doing over time. Your sales proposition might be unique today, but two months from now, you might find other companies have begun pushing the same features you are. If that happens, you’ll have to reevaluate your USP, and make any necessary adjustments so that your product will still stand out from the crowd.

If money is no object, you don’t have to worry about a USP. You can just push your message out to as many people as possible, and hope for the best. Most companies don’t have that luxury, so they have to work at setting themselves apart from the crowd, and using a strong unique selling proposition is a great way to do that. If you can find a selling point for your product that no one else in your niche is using, you can give your customers the impression that your product is different from the rest, and as such, more desirable.
