Common Mistakes in Affiliate Marketing

If you’re new to affiliate marketing, you should know that there are some mistakes made by many newcomers to this industry that you should avoid if you want to build a business that is profitable both in the short term and in the long term. Here are some of the most common mistakes done by newcomers to affiliate marketing and how you can easily avoid them:

Joining Every Affiliate Program Under the Sun

The experts always talk about how building multiple streams of income is important for success in affiliate marketing and with business in general. They show you how they’re part of dozens of affiliate programs and make money from them. But should you do the same? Not right from the start. Exploring various earning opportunities is definitely great, but when you’re just starting out, you should rather focus on a few programs and not overload yourself. This will make it far more complicated to find the right offers to promote, as you will have way too many to choose from. You will also get plenty of promotional emails from affiliate networks and managers urging you to run their campaigns, but you simply won’t be able to handle all of this at the same time when building your business.

Not Testing the Links and Merchant’s Page

If you make a mistake when copying the affiliate link over to your landing pages, this could be quite costly, as it will probably mean that any sales that you make won’t be tracked and so you won’t get paid for them. You should test your links to ensure that they work correctly. Also, you should check whether the clicks you make register correctly in your affiliate account, though bear in mind that there could be a delay between 15 minutes and a few hours before they appear. You should also see that the merchant’s site is loading correctly and not experiencing any technical problems at the moment. Obviously, sending traffic to a site that doesn’t work is pretty pointless as you will be left wondering why you haven’t made any money from your visitors.

Not Tracking Properly

Chances are, you will be promoting your affiliate offers through different channels. If you want to increase your chances of success, then you need to set up a tracking solution that will allow you to know how many clicks and sales came from which of your websites or advertising channels. This will be very helpful when you want to optimize your campaigns, as you will know which methods that you’ve used in promoting the offers worked and which ones didn’t really do anything. Many affiliate programs will allow you to generate different link codes for the same offer, allowing you to track your clicks more easily. There are also simple scripts that you can integrate into the back end of your website that will let you know exactly where your conversions came from, such as the keywords used, which ad was clicked by the buyer, etc. Any serious affiliate marketer maintains detailed statistics and has a good tracking solution set up.

Reports of Deliberate Click Fraud on Facebook Ads Getting Attention

Reports of Deliberate Click Fraud on Facebook Ads Getting Attention

Yesterday, we’ve taken a simple look at what invalid clicks are and some rather innocent ways in which they could be generated. But what about the more serious cases, which would be downright click fraud on Facebook? The issue has received a lot of attention, as Facebook’s stock seemed to sink and a few high profile advertisers have openly criticized the social networking giant’s advertising platform. Some have even gone as far as saying that they won’t use Facebook Ads anymore and will be looking for other ways to generate traffic to their website.

Deliberate click form can also come in many forms. The most simple one is simply paying a user to click on ads, like some of the “paid to click” sites do. They would usually pay people (usually $0.01 per click, even less) to click on ads that are posted on certain sites.

But this could also be the action of a competitor that deliberately wants to push you out of the game by using up your advertising budget. If you’re a small business and receive several dozens invalid clicks that way, this will undoubtedly leave you with a very bad user experience at Facebook Ads.

Clicks coming from automated systems, commonly referred to as bots, have been recognized as an issue among Facebook advertisers. Now bots aren’t exclusively used to commit click fraud and could have plenty of genuine uses. Their main purpose is to crawl thousands of websites in order to search fro information or to collect (scrape) data, which would later then be republished on other websites. But when a bot visits a site, then there is of course the very real chance that it would end up clicking on an ad. Even though Facebook prohibits the use of bots on their site, this doesn’t mean that some of the more “blackhat” marketers don’t use them. If you’ve seen the reports on the millions of fake Facebook accounts that are active, you should know that many of these accounts aren’t simply someone with too much time on their hands creating a separate persona so they could troll or annoy other users. Many of these are used for the purpose of running automated harvesting software, deliberately inflating the number of “likes” a page has, or posting spam comments and sending out spam messages to users.

Now what has Facebook done to address the problem that invalid clicks have and their potential to have a negative effect on the company as a whole? Unfortunately, a lot of marketers that use the site’s advertising services would say “not enough”. Tomorrow we will lean a bit more in details about what some advertisers are complaining about, as well as what Facebook has said in an effort to retain many of their advertisers who spend money with them and essentially keep the site running for everyone. You will be shown some ways you may be able to better protect yourself, as well as what’s in store for the future of Facebook advertising.

Tips On Improving Your Site’s Content For SEO

Tips On Improving Your Site’s Content For SEO

When talking about SEO, we often here the words: content is king. This leaves many webmasters thinking about how they can improve the quality of the content that they have on their site so they can rank better in search results. Now that Google has released several updates which reward sites that have good content and penalize the bad ones, this has become even more important for webmasters. Here are some easy tips that will help you improve the content of your site, giving your visitors a better and more rewarding user experience, plus helping you rank better for your chosen keywords. Remember that while on page factors aren’t the only thing that will determine just how well a website will rank, they still remain an important piece of the puzzle. With the recent search engine updates focusing on quality, they are something that you simply cannot afford to ignore if you want your online business to succeed.

Adhere to SEO Writing Best Practices

There are dozens of guides and articles which explain what SEO writing is and give detailed explanations on some of the good practices that webmasters can adopt. In summary, this would mean using your keyword within the title of your pages or posts when possible. Use your keyword near the beginning, in the headings and in the end of your page. Your keyword should also be included a few times in the body of the article as well. But one important thing here is that you shouldn’t over do it. Keyword stuffing is one of the fastest ways to get a site penalized right now. If you feel that you’re repeating a certain word or phrase all too often, then this would be a good time to look up some related keywords that you can use instead, to keep your site from being penalized. Not all keyword stuffing is intentional, so this is why you need to pay attention to it when you create content for your site.

Make Your Site Easy to Navigate

A well organized website will make your users much happier. It will make search engines happier as well. For this reason, you should organize the posts on your website in different categories. That way, users can more easily navigate within your site to find some of your other posts. If you’re referencing something that is being discussed in greater detail in another area of your site, linking to it internally is also a good idea. With recent updates, search engines have gotten a lot better at determining which website would provide the user with a good browsing experience and which one would simply be a mess filled with broken links and pages that are difficult to find.

There are plenty of other things that you can do to improve your site’s content when it comes to SEO writing. Tomorrow we will discuss some more tactics that you can adopt. These are all things designed to give your site a boost in search engine rankings and above all, keep it from being pushed down.

Creating Email Messages That Convert: Some Important Advice

Creating Email Messages That Convert: Some Important Advice

Email marketing is one of the best ways for online marketers to get people to buy their products. But in order for them to be a truly effective marketing tool, they need to be used correctly. The first thing you need to think about is the email message itself. Here are some basic tips that will help you create messages that convert much better than before.

  • A Good Headline is a MUST!

We’re in 2012. People tend to get dozens of email messages a day. Some of them are personal emails from friends and family members. Others are business related messages. Then there’s notifications sent out by social media sites, etc. Finally, we have commercial email messages that come from mailing lists that the user has subscribed to.

The first obstacle to getting your email to convert is actually getting the user to open your message. For this, you need to make a good first impression by creating a headline (email subject) that will engage the user and make them open the message to read more.

Try to understand your target customers. What would make them want to read your email? What kind of wording would draw their attention? You can try to get the recipient to guess the content of your email based on the subject header. Or, ask them a question in it. But no matter what you do, don’t use subject lines that are misleading and unrelated to the actual content. While you may think this is clever, it’s not a good strategy. First, you will trip up spam filters, which have gotten far more advanced in the last few years. If your subject keywords are completely unrelated to the text in your message, there is a high chance the message ends up in the “junk” folder. Second, and even worse, is that you risk irritating the recipient. What this means is that they will either unsubscribe from your list, or simply stop paying attention to your future messages, thinking that you’re just trying to trick them again.

  • Take Advantage of Message Preview Snippets

Depending on which email service your recipient uses, they may be able to see the first sentences of your message next to the subject line, or by mousing over the message when it’s in their inbox. Naturally, you will want to take advantage of this. Don’t start off your email with your address, phone number, or the classic “Can’t see the message? Click here”. This doesn’t give the user any information on what is inside.

Instead, create a catchy title that will serve as the headline of the email message itself. It shouldn’t be your email subject rewritten in different words. Rather, it should provide the reader with a bit more information on what you’re going to be talking to them about in your message. This may convince someone to open your message even if your subject didn’t really do the trick for them.

Facebook Ads Model Moving Towards Paid Organic Results

Facebook Ads Model Moving Towards Paid Organic Results

Let’s face it: the world of online marketing is mainly centered around one thing: advertising a business or product. There are numerous ways to get the message across, such as paying for ads to be inserted into pages or search results. There are also actions that can be taken to make the promotion seem more natural, such as using SEO techniques. And then we have, of course, social media, which offers a variety of ways for marketers to get their message to the user.

Regarding advertising on Facebook, there has been a lot of talk about what changes are going to be brought to their current advertising model. One thing that is reported is that few people are interested in clicking on obvious ads. For many marketers, the pay per click ad model on Facebook, which functions in a similar way to Google Adwords content ads, has been a bit of a disappointment. Some report low interest in their ads and out of all people who click on the ad, few actually stay on the page and engage with it. Users already have a mental image of what the ads look like and where they’re going to appear on a page, so they’re a lot more likely to just tune out and ignore them, much like people who flip past the advertising pages in a magazine.

As a response to this, Facebook is undergoing some changes to its advertising business model, in order to change it to make advertising seem more organic and better integrate it with people’s news feeds on the site.

The new advertising options make use of features that have already existed on Facebook. When a business posts something to their Facebook page, their fans may get a notification about it on their news feed. However, this causes an issue of visibility. Many users are currently subscribed to dozens, hundreds or even thousands of pages through their Facebook account, as it’s very common for users to like their favorite bands, TV shows, celebrities and some less “famous” entities like the page of a local store they’ve visited or a website they found entertaining or useful and that had a Facebook “Like” button on this. This obviously creates a certain problem for marketers. It would be impossible for Facebook to display all of the updates to each fan, as this would result in blowing up the users news feed. Also let’s not forget that Facebook is primarily a site for person to person and not person to business interaction. While users may enjoy getting updates about their favorite businesses, they are more concerned about what their friends are doing and not what their local restaurant has on the menu today or he fact that the local auto shop they went to last month has a special on tires.

Facebook has put forward some innovative solutions to this, which we will look at tomorrow.

Other Ways to Save Money on Your Online Marketing

Other Ways to Save Money on Your Online Marketing

Previously, we’ve seen how online advertising is one of the most cost effective ways of getting the word out about your small business to the world. There are dozens of ways that you can advertise online and some are indeed quite cheap as far as expenditures are concerned. But before you look at different advertising methods and compare their costs, you would need to learn how to make the most out of your advertising dollars and how to prevent wasting time and money. Here are some ways for you to do all of that:

  • Ensure that Your Website is Up to Par

Your marketing materials are what’s going to bring you interested site visitors. But it’s your website that’s going to convert visitors into paying customers. If your website looks like a complete train wreck, then you’re going to be wasting time and money bringing traffic to it, as it simply won’t be the efficient tool that it is meant to be.

Your site can be as simple or as complex as you want it to be. The main factors that will determine it’s usefulness is how it looks and how it works. Your site should be appealing visually to your visitors and any of its features that deal with bringing you business should work 100% of the time. No online shopper wants to reload a page half a dozen time because the shopping cart returns an error, or the “contact us” form doesn’t load properly. They will simply go somewhere else and forget all about you and your business. Obviously this isn’t something that you would want to happen. So before you do anything else, be sure that your website works correctly.

  • Learn to Keep Proper Expense Records

Bad quality accounting could end up costing you a lot in the long run. If you’re going to pay anything to advertise your business on the internet, then you will need to keep accurate records of how much money you’ve spent, when, where and for what. This will allow you to do many things. First, you can more easily manage your budget and control your spending. You would then be easily able to determine whether a certain marketing method that you’re using is profitable for you or not.

Next, would be the issue of taxes. If you operate any kind of business and spend money on advertising, then that becomes a business expense. This is the reason why you need to keep tabs on how much you’re spending and where. Furthermore, keep all invoices and receipts for payments that you’ve made. This will let you deduct your marketing expenses on your tax return. Depending on the type of business you operate and the jurisdiction you’re in, you may be able to get some additional tax credits or benefits based on how much you spend on ads and marketing. You can find free -or very low cost- small business accounting software that you can use for this purpose.

Niche and Content Ideas for Info Products

Niche and Content Ideas for Info Products

When you want to create an info product, one of the important things to think about is what exactly your product will be based on. This is the part where you will do your research on your niche and try to find one that will be right.

A good niche is one which has people interested in paying for a product that will solve a problem and answer their questions, but is specific enough to not be too saturated with other products. So for example, instead of a general product about “affiliate marketing”, you could create an info product about “Using Twitter for Affiliate Marketing”, etc.

Doing niche research will take a bit of time to complete, but it’s not a complicated task. You can use Google’s keyword tool to see search volumes and competition levels for specific keywords that are related to your niche. You can also read Yahoo Answers, blogs and discussion forums to find out the type of questions that people are asking the most often about your general niche and see if there’s a more specific, sub niche that you can exploit from that.

Also, doing niche research involves looking at the competition. Are there any other info products which target the specific niche that you are after? If so, what do they claim they offer and how much do these products cost? What can you do to make your product better than competitors and thus more appealing to buyers? These are all valid questions that you would need to ask yourself when you’re in the niche selection phase of product creation. Remember, a successful product will often be one that offers something more and actually stands out from the crowd, rather than simply being the same thing that has been done dozens of times, just under a different name.

Now that you have thought about and selected your specific niche, it is time to consider the content that you will put in your product. There are many different ways that you can deliver the content, such as in the format of an ebook, videos, interactive tutorials, audio guides, etc. Sure, some formats might be better in certain niches, but the actual content of your product is the most important part, regardless of how you will be delivering it to the buyer.

Obviously, when creating a product, having some solid knowledge and experience in the niche of your product will help out a lot. You will already have an idea of what you will want to include in your product and how you will structure the information contained in your future product. This is why it’s also recommended that you select a niche that you actually have an interest in, as it will make creating the content a lot easier and less time consuming for you. Tomorrow we will explore some further ideas on how you can put together a product that will be genuinely useful for your buyers and will have a higher chance of getting a positive reception.

Some Tips on Interacting With Your Mailing List

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Some Tips on Interacting With Your Mailing List

Many online marketing experts will tell you something like “the money is in the list”. Well, this is actually true if you have a mailing list of interested and targeted subscribers who actually see a need to buy the products that you are promoting. But having good subscribers and lots of them is not the only thing that need to be important for you if you have a mailing list and send out newsletters. Even having 100 000 subscribers on your list will not do you any good if they never click on any of your links or even read your messages. Here are a few tips that will help your interactions with your mailing list become more productive and profitable for you.

  • Mind the Rate at Which You Send Out Your Messages

Unless you really need to send out daily updates for some reason (such as having a site that collects industry news each day), avoid sending out your newsletters too often. If they didn’t find anything too interesting in the first few days, many users will either unsubscribe or start ignoring your messages if you send them out too often. Remember, it is better to communicate with your list once a week and have some conversions on your products, rather than bombarding your subscribers with daily messages only to end up losing half of them before the month is over.

  • Include a Calls to Action

This doesn’t only apply to items that you are selling, but also if you are just sending visitors to your website for something, such as to read one of your blog posts, or to watch a video. Including a call to action will make it more likely that they will go ahead and visit your site.

  • Be Brief and Direct

Avoid making your email messages too long. People get dozens, sometimes hundreds of emails each day. They don’t always have the time to completely read each of them. If they see a wall of text, they just go into TL;DR (Too Long; Didn’t Read) mode and simply don’t pay any attention to the message. Keep your communications brief, direct and to the point. If you need to explain more or give additional information, link to a blog post or a page on your website. Websites and blogs are better made to convey longer information to your readers. Also, one of the goals of newsletters would be to get people on your site as well. From there, it is possible that they could buy something, or keep reading other things on your website for information on products and services that might be useful to them.

  • Include Contact Information in Your Messages

It happens that subscribers sometimes forget who you are, especially if they are subscribed to many mailing lists. Include things such as your email address for questions, the URL of your main business website, as well as links to your social media profiles. It will remind your readers as to who you are and also will give a more “human” feeling to your message, with ways for people to contact you if they want to know more about something they saw in it.

Promoting Your New Web Store

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Promoting Your New Web Store

Once you have your products ready and your website up, then there is one important thing left to do for you: promoting the web store that you’ve just built. In many cases, this is going to get a little bit challenging, due to the fact that you are going to be competing directly against dozens of online retailers which are already more established in the industry. But it is by no means impossible. There are some things that you can do to ensure success as well as one good strategy that is used by many small online retailers:

Sell Globally – Promote Locally

Obviously, one of the main advantages of e-commerce is that you can sell your merchandise to buyers all around the world. This is the reason that most e-commerce sites ship globally. But going against corporations that have billion dollar budgets is not really a wise move. This is why you will need to first start promoting your website locally, in your own area and community. This is also how many of the world’s global corporations started out. Coca Cola first started selling their product locally before going global. You will also find that many large internet providers and wireless companies first started offering their services in the city where they were founded before expanding. Therefore, if you want to succeed online, you will need to follow their lead, even though you may not actually have an objective of starting a global online sales empire such as Amazon. Now how do you do all of this? It is actually quite simple and we will get into some ways that you can accomplish this in the next post.

Target Your Audience by Language

Of course, not everyone can do this as not everyone speaks another language. But targeting your audience by language is an efficient marketing tool. All you would need to do is to have multiple versions of your website in different languages, such as French, German, Spanish, etc. This has many advantages for the owner of an online shop. First, you would get access to more customers, who may not speak English and would be searching for websites in their own language. Second, promoting your website would become easier if you do this. While websites in English make up the vast majority of online content, there is a drawback to this. You will get increased competition and therefore would need to outrank many other sites in order to get some customers. But in terms of sites in other languages, there is less of them. The customer base may be smaller, but it is still there, in the millions. Therefore, doing your SEO, pay per click ads and social media posts in another language would mean that there would be less websites selling the same thing than you. This will simplify the promotional process and make it give you better results, faster.

Is Magento E-Commerce a Good Solution for Beginners?

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Is Magento E-Commerce a Good Solution for Beginners?

If you are building an e-commerce website, you basically have two options. The first one would be to simply build a static site and add payment buttons for a service such as PayPal. While this may be OK for some people, it is not the best solution, especially not when you are building any kind of serious e-commerce site. You therefore need to use a type of content management system that will allow you to do things such as add and remove products, put some products as “featured” on your home page, etc.

There are dozens of different e-commerce platforms available out there. Some are free, while some cost thousands of dollars. One free e-commerce platform that many people talk about is Magento. It is included in the automatic installers for many web hosts and is touted as the most advanced free e-commerce platform. But is it really the best choice for you? Especially if you are new to e-commerce?

Well, to be honest, it is not. The first thing that you need to know is that Magento is an enterprise class e-commerce solution. Powerful, yes. But it is also very complicated to use for new users. But what about support? Isn’t there a knowledge base or something? Well there are support forums that are provided for users of the software. The problem with them is that there is not much “support” going on there. Mostly users saying “Oh! Darn this doesn’t work” and others joining in with “Yeah! It doesn’t work for me too! Bummer”. Magento staff rarely answer any questions on the forum and there is a reason as to why: the software is free. The support isn’t. If you want support from them, well then you would need to pay for it.

There are also a few other issues with Magento. The first thing is that the admin panel is quite slow. Sometimes it takes up to one minute for a page to refresh after you have made a change. It is not my hosting or my server that is a problem, believe me. I have tried with a cloud server and a shared hosting account. Both have given the same results.

What about customizing it? Magento says that you can customize their software fully to fit your exact needs and make the site look and work just like you want. Well, this is not a lie. It IS possible. Just extremely hard. There are some templates provided with the software, but they will not work for everybody. You can download some free ones or pay for premium templates, but the issue is that many of them are buggy and have problems working. You can also modify the code, as it is open source software. But you better be an expert on the Zend Framework. Otherwise, expect to spend several months (that’s right, months) learning it before you can accomplish anything useful with it. Quite simply Magento is not the best solution for beginners… unless you just want to take the default template and add a few products for your e-commerce site.

Marketing For Local Businesses: Your Options – Free Online Classifieds

Marketing For Local Businesses: Your Options – Free Online Classifieds

When we talk about internet marketing, many people instantly seem to think that it is related to affiliate offers and building a website to host some Adsense ads. Sure, these things are what many people do to earn money on the internet, but they are not the only components of online marketing. If you have a local business, you can use the internet to draw more clients and above all, to get your business known in the community. There are various options for you to use to get the word out. Yesterday, we have talked about local SEO and your options for doing it. But search engine traffic is not the only way for you to get visitors to your website and clients for your business. Let’s examine a few other ways to get what you are looking for.

Getting Traffic

Whether you are pushing affiliate offers, or have your own, physical small business, you want traffic to your site. Traffic simply means visitors that look at your website. There are many ways to get this traffic: SEO (which we talked about yesterday), online classified ad sites, social media sites and targeted media buying. We will explore these one by one to see what the advantages (and sometimes drawbacks) are of using these methods. That way, you will be able to make a decision on how to advertise your business online.

Classified Ads Sites (Craigslist, Gumtree, Backpage, Kijiji and dozens more).

There are various sites which let you place a classified ad, which is similar to what you would see in a newspaper. There are some main, worldwide sites such as Craigslist, but there are also some local sites which could be geared towards people in your locality. For example, in French Canada where I live, the website Annonce123.com is very popular with people and attracts a lot of local traffic.

In order to maximize your chances of success and to take the highest advantage of the sites it is recommended that you:

  • Post on all the sites. That’s right, both the national sites which have a section for your city and the smaller, local sites (if present in your locality). Posting an ad on these sites is free and takes 2 or 3 minutes. Remember, even if you only get 10 views a day for your ad, one of these viewers could be your next biggest customer. Say if you own a car rental place, the viewer could be a diplomat from Monaco on a temporary assignment in your city, who will rent your most expensive car for 6 months. Think of the money you will make with him. Sure, this is rare… but you never know… and if he doesn’t see your ad, well he never know your car rental business existed and use a competitor instead.
  • Make you ad look interesting. Your ad should stand out and be engaging to the users. Thus, use a good title and also, make sure that you use proper spelling and grammar in the ad. Believe me, it helps.
  • Use the “featured” or “upgrade” options if possible. Many sites, for a small fee of (varies from $0.50 to a few dollars) will let your ad be “featured”. This means that it will be either on top of all the other ads, or will have highlighting that will draw attention to it. If you have a few dollars to spare, use this option.

Tomorrow, we will examine social media sites and how they can be useful for marketing your local business on the internet.

Attracting Local Visitors To Your Website: Do Your SEO First

Attracting Local Visitors To Your Website: Do Your SEO First

One of the main attractions of advertising your business in the online world is that you are able to reach people all over the world. Anyone, from anywhere can visit your website and do business with you. However, for certain small businesses, this is not what they need, especially if they only do business in a certain local area. Therefore, for them, receiving visitors from all over the country and all over the world will be quite useless and will simply result in wasted time and wasted bandwidth on their website.

Think of it this way. If you run a local landscaping business, you don’t need people from the other end of the country seeing your website. It will be as useless to them as it is to you. The visitor will simply see that you don’t serve their area and then leave your site. For them, seeing your website would have simply been nothing more than a waste of time. But how do you target visitors that are only from the area that you do business in? There are many ways in which this can be accomplished. We will take a look at some of the techniques that you can use to make this happen.

Proper Local SEO

Sure, there are many different ways to get people to see your website. With dozens of different advertising options, many business owners don’t focus much on SEO, considering it too complicated to perform on their own and too costly to outsource to a professional firm. As you will see, both of these assertions are not necessarily true. In any case, even if you don’t expect search engine traffic to be your main source of clicks, doing some SEO work on your site is recommended, even if it is just the most basic type.

Basic SEO is not complicated at all for a local business. It simply consists of targeting the right keywords in the proper way. Therefore, you should optimize your content towards keywords that are more “local” than simply general keywords. So if you run a landscaping business in Boca Raton, Florida, you would optimize your content for keywords such as “Boca Raton landscaping” or “landscaping in Boca Raton”. By doing so, you will only be competing for rankings with local businesses, which is easier than trying to rank for the more general “landscaping”. Furthermore, a person doing a search for (product or service) + city is more likely to be in buying mode and seeking out a place where they can GET the service in your city. Even if they are not ready to make a decision yet and are just comparing prices, they are much more likely to contact YOU if they notice that your business offers the best value. On the other hand, someone searching for “landscaping” could simply be looking for landscaping tips and tricks and not interested in hiring anyone’s services.

But is it really hard to do SEO for local businesses and is it really costly to get help? These are topics that we will discuss in the second part.

Can Using Internet Marketing Forums Be Useful for New Marketers?

In your quest to get the necessary information to become an effective online marketer, you may have come across some internet marketing forums. Now if you are new to internet marketing, you may be asking yourself: can these forums be useful for me? And what are the things that make an internet marketing forum good?

For the first question, the answer is definitely yes. On internet marketing forums, you will find plenty of information and methods that you can apply to make money online. You will also be able to find some tools, software as well as services that can help you accomplish whatever you are doing. The advantage of a forum is that unlike a simple guide, article or blog post, the content is “alive”. This means that not only can one person post information, but others can respond to it by adding additional data to make it more useful or ask questions about things they are unsure of, which will help more people understand the method.

A good internet marketing forum to participate in is one where:

  • New internet marketers are welcomed and not looked down upon, or taken advantage of by other, more experienced members of the forum.
  • Useful posts are made and new information is shared by members on a daily basis.
  • There is a community spirit where people genuinely want to help each other, and not just take things for themselves.

Now, many new internet marketers want to know what are the best internet marketing forums they can join? Well, there are dozens of them, however here are the top free.

The Warrior Forum. This is the oldest and most respected internet marketing forum on the internet. You will find lots of useful methods for making money on the internet there, which are geared at marketers of all experience levels. You will see that the crowd is very diverse there, with participants ranging from newcomers to the industry, to those who have made millions of dollars selling their own products or by being affiliates.

Digital Point. Another very popular forum that is neatly organized in various categories, such as affiliate marketing, web site development, content creation, selling on eBay, using Pay Per Click ads, etc. There is also a very active marketplace where buyers and sellers meet to sell websites, content, traffic, advertising space, etc. Note that this forum is very popular with people from many countries in the world, not just the US. Therefore, you might sometimes see posts written in “bad” English. But everyone there is working together to attain their goals in online marketing, no matter where they are from.

WickedFire. A forum that attracts many of the top affiliate marketers in the industry. Very useful place to learn new methods and to discuss online business. Just a note though, you will sometimes find “adult” jokes and rather strong language in some posts, so it is not for the squeamish or those who get offended easily. But the content is nonetheless very useful and the people there are truly serious about their business, even if they sometimes like to crack jokes at each other.

Start Your Own Web Marketing Agency – Expanding Your Business

Start Your Own Web Marketing Agency – Expanding Your Business

Another thing that you will need to take into account when you open up a web marketing agency is how much you will be charging your clients for the services that you provide. You will want to have prices that are very competitive and yet still allow you to make a decent amount of profit.

Of course, the exact way that you structure your pricing remains your decision. After all, it’s your business, right? In order to get an idea, look at what your competitors are charging and then make your price list accordingly.

Another thing that you should do is to create a few different packages for your clients to choose from. That way, you will be able to suit everyone’s needs, no matter what their budget is. Let’s say you are offering a web promotion service in which you place classified ads for your clients and also write articles and submit them to various article directories. You could create several different packages depending on how many ads you will post each day and how many articles will be created in total for the client.

Now what happens if you get so many clients that you don’t always have the time to complete all the work quickly? Or what if you truly want to expand your business and make even more money? All of this is of course possible. Remember, even the top web marketing agencies that employ dozens of people have probably started as a one man operation out of someone’s house.

If you want to expand, there is one big thing that you have to do: hire some staff to help you. Here, you basically have two choices: you can either hire freelancers from anywhere in the world, or actually hire some local staff members as full time employees. If your business is just starting to pick up steam, the best bet is to go with the first option for now. If you browse internet marketing forums, or freelancing sites, you will find that there are plenty of people who are capable of doing tasks that will be useful for you such as designing web sites, creating graphics and logos, posting on classified ads sites, writing articles and content for sites, etc. Freelancers have the advantage of being much more cost effective versus actually hiring full time workers, as you would only need to pay them when you actually need them to work on a project.

Later on, as your business grows, you can then hire a full time staff that will produce the required work for your clients or help you with general administrative tasks such as processing payments from clients, answering their questions and explaining your services, etc. Of course, this is not something that you absolutely need to do. If you only want to do this business as a part time side venture that you run from your home, you can always keep it that way. This is the advantage of being your own boss: you can set your objectives as high or as low as you want.
