Making Money with A Web Store

Would you like to own an e-commerce site? Many aspiring online entrepreneurs have had this idea. And in the world of online business, ideas are what matter. Remember that websites which are very powerful and have become a staple of the online business world today have all started with this: an idea.

Will you be able to be as successful as some of the big names in e-commerce right now? Maybe… but you have to be realistic and the odds of this actually happening are quite remote indeed. However, with the right ideas, business plan and execution, you will definitely be able to make some money with an e-commerce site. With the growth in online shopping, there are a lot of opportunities out there for you to make money. Here are the basic elements that you would need to think of when you start an online business of this sort:

  • Products to sell. Obviously this is the most important thing to consider when you are starting an online business. You will need to think about what you will be selling to make money from your site. This is the part of building an e-commerce site that you will want to give the most thought to.
  • A website. Since you will be selling products online, you obviously need to have a website to sell them. While some will tell you that building an e-commerce site is easy, creating one, depending on how complex you want it to be, can be a challenge. You can build a website from an “off the shelf” e-commerce platform, many of which are available for free. This will give you a “standard” or basic e-commerce site. But if you want to customize it more, you will need to either learn about things such as coding and graphic design, or hire someone else to do it for you. Your website will be the first thing that your customers see, so you obviously need to make it look good in order to make your online business appear trustworthy in your site visitors eyes.
  • Site visitors. Also know as traffic. Obviously, this is an important part of running an online business and it is also the most important one. Without any visitors to your website, there are no potential customers and therefore you will be making no money. There are various strategies that you can employ to bring some visitors to your new e-commerce website. But one thing that you need to realize is that at the beginning, growth may be quite slow. You will need to patiently build up some traffic by using various means of online promotion. There are some ways that you can use which will bring you free website visitors. However, this will require some work on your part. Also, you will need to study some of the online advertising and marketing methods if you would like to know all about the latest methods that you can use to bring some people as visitors to your site.

Building a Good Small Business Website

Building a Good Small Business Website

If you are going to be building a website for your small business, then there are certain things that you definitely need to know. The purpose of a business website is to help people who are interested in your business find out more about it and then contact you to purchase a product or service if you have something that interests them. To create your business website, you have a few choices. Either you can build the site yourself, or hire a web developer to do it for you. Many small business owners will prefer to create a website by themselves, primarily due to the availability of good tools that allow a website to be built without coding, and also due to the fact that professional web developers and designers might sometimes charge more than what some people would want to pay.

When you build your site, there are certain things that you need to keep in mind. Here is some information on the whole web building process that will be useful to anyone that is creating a website for their business.

  • First, Make a Plan

Before you begin building anything, it is important that you plan the overall look and feel of your website, as well as determine the kind of content that you will be placing on it. Also, you will need to determine what your website will do for your business. Will it be just a website that will present information about your business and encourage your site visitors to contact you, or will it be something a bit more advanced. If you are selling products, you could, for example, build an e-commerce site that would let people buy your stuff online, without needing to call you to place an order or to visit your location. If you offer services, then you can include an ordering system on your website as well. Planning your site is the first step in putting all the pieces together. Of course, you will be able to make changes as you go along, as well as after when your site has been put up.

  • Determine What Platform Your Site Will be Based On

A “platform” in web building usually refers to a content management system that will power your site and allow you to make easy changes to it. Of course, you do not have to use one if you don’t want to. If you want to build the simplest kind of website possible, then you can simply create a static HTML website that will need to be updated manually.

But to make things easier, there are several systems that you can use. Some are general, such as WordPress, Joomla or Drupal, which work well with any kind of website, due to the thousands of free themes, plugins and additions to these systems that can be used. If you are going to run an e-commerce website, then there are special e-commerce platforms like Zen Cart, Magento and OS Commerce that you can use to base your site on instead. It is a good idea to learn more about these systems and what they can do for you.

Why Many Internet Marketers Give Up – Part 2

Why Many Internet Marketers Give Up – Part 2

We all know that there are plenty of success stories to be found when it comes to the online marketing industry. Some people have built million dollar businesses right from their homes. But what about those who simply gave up. Let’s keep looking at some of the common reasons. But, maybe you are asking yourself: why does this guy want me to see what people who failed did? I want success!! Well the answer is simple: because you sometimes need to see where people messed up so that you don’t repeat their errors. There is a quote that I often like to use: “The wise man learns from his mistakes, but the genius learns from the mistakes of others.” Now let’s get back to seeing some of what causes people to give up:

  • They Let Others Talk Them Out Of It

This happens, and it does quite often actually. Somebody could have a million dollar business plan, but then their friend/wife/mother/uncle/dog tells them that “that’s stupid, it will never work” or that “you can’t make money on the internet, it is all a big scam” and then they simply put their plans behind. To have success in any business, whether its online or not, you have to believe in yourself. Do you really think that nobody was laughing at Bill Gates when he quit college to start Microsoft? Well, considering the fact that he’s now the richest man in the world, I somehow have a feeling that these people are saying: “Damn! If only I was more friendly with that geeky guy in glasses!!”.

  • They Wanted Someone To Hold Their Hand Every Step of the Way

Part of running any business is that you need to be able to make the right decisions by yourself. There will be nobody explaining to you what you have to do, how to do it and when to do it. YOU will need to look up the information necessary to build, operate and expand your business. While you may partner up with others who can give you advice, remember that these people also have their own businesses to run and therefore won’t want to constantly be looking out for you.

  • They Had a Problem or Setback and Quickly Got Discouraged

Again, this is a common occurrence. If I said to you that everything will always be A-OK in the online business industry, I would be lying to you. Things can go wrong. Sometimes, your ads and sales pages will not convert as well as you want them to. A “super money maker method” could turn out to be completely worthless. An affiliate network could go bankrupt, leaving hundreds of affiliates high and dry. This happens. Deal with it. When a problem occurs, the best thing to do is to start thinking of logical solutions: what could I have done differently so that this doesn’t happen to me again in the future? That is the question that you need to be always asking yourself in case of an issue with your business.

Starting an online business – How to be prepared

Starting an online business – How to be prepared

When you are thinking of starting an online business, it is important that you prepare yourself, just like you would when you start a “brick and mortar” business. Here are some things to do in order to make sure you are ready to begin your operations.

Think about what exactly you are going to do: There are many ways to earn cash on the internet. Which method or methods will you be using to make profits? Will you be providing services, selling physical goods, selling digital items, running a membership site or promoting affiliate offers? Of course, you don’t need to limit yourself to just one of these categories of things that you will be doing, but you need to have a rather clear cut idea of what you plan to do.

Formulate a business plan: This doesn’t have to be complicated. It would basically include elements such as what products you will sell / promote, how you will sell them, how will you advertise and what services or materials you will need. You should also formulate a budget that will detail on what you will initially spend your money.

Register your business: Depending on the jurisdiction that you are in, you will have various options. You can register a sole proprietorship or incorporate. There are various legal and tax implications depending on what form your business will have and once again these will vary from country to country and state to state. Therefore, it is always a good idea to seek advice from someone experienced in these issues, such as an attorney.

Open a business bank account: You will need one to receive payments and to deposit checks received from customers or affiliate programs.

Set up your main website: When conducting business online, you will need to own one or several different websites. If you own several sites, you should begin by creating a “main” one for your business. The good news is that web hosting and domain names are now cheaper than they have ever been before, so it will not be such a major expense.

Seek advice from others: There is a wealth of information available online on any type of activity that can be performed online. Why not take full advantage of it? You can use forums and social networking sites in order to exchange information and form partnerships or joint ventures with those that are involved in activities similar to yours. You will also get the ability to share information and experience that you have acquired along the way with others, thus helping them succeed in their online ventures as well.

Getting Started With Your Online Business

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Getting Started With Your Online Business

Recently we gave you some pointers on setting up your new online business. Once you’re all set up and ready to go, then what? There are some tips you’ll need to get off to the right start with your online business, and we’re going to share them with you now.

Take It Seriously

Just because you’re working for yourself, and you’re working out of a home office, that’s no excuse to slack off, and treat your work like it’s not important. Being your own boss requires a lot of dedication, and effort. You won’t succeed if you don’t buckle down, and work hard every day, just like you would if you were working for someone else. Once your business is up and running, and everything is going smoothly, you’ll be able to take the occasional long weekend, and be a little more flexible with your schedule, but when you’re starting out, you’ll have to work hard, and spend some long days working to get your business up and running.

Goals

It’s important to set yourself some goals to keep your efforts focused, and your business on track. That being said, it’s also very important to make sure those goals are reasonable. If you set the goal of making a million dollars in your first year of business, you’re probably not going to meet that goal. Instead, try to set goals based on your current business operations, and where you see them going in the near future. Instead of setting goals that are a year off, try to set goals that are only one or two months off. That way, you’ll always have an impending goal to work toward.

Budget

Running an online business doesn’t require a huge amount of money, but you will still need to spend some cash in order to keep things running. You’re going to need web hosting, and if you intend to do any email marketing, you’re going to need an autoresponder. Beyond that, your costs are going to vary depending on your marketing methods, and your overall business plan. If you have the budget to invest in high quality services, like video production, and professional writers, your business will benefit from it in the long run. Just be careful not to overspend. There are a lot of free services out there that match the features of the paid ones. For example, if you’re looking for software to manage your social media accounts, try Tweetdeck. It helps you to keep everything in one place, and you can run multiple Twitter, Facebook, Buzz, and Foursquare accounts from within it. Spend money when you have to, but spend wisely whenever you can.

Keep these tips in mind as you start out with your new business, and things should go smoothly.

Introduction to Ezine Article Publishing

Introduction to Ezine Article Publishing

EzineArticles.com is one of the leading article directories online today and has been established for a very long time in the marketing and article space.

Ezine Articles essentially lets your post your articles (rewritten for Ezine or as you posted on your own blog) to their database of articles with millions of visits each month. What that does, is it brings you visitors and backlinks to your website creating a lot of value for your business.

Some people make a living by posting to Ezine and linking out to affiliate products or their own products and selling people from their articles on the products and websites.

Ezine is a very powerful tool that should be in every internet marketers business plan.

There are two differing camps when it comes to article publishing on article directories. Some people believe that all the content must be unique that you post on your blog, therefore you should never post vanilla posts from your blog onto article directories. Then, there are other internet marketers who have claimed they have had no ill effects from publishing the same article from their blog a few days later on the most popular article directories. Personally, I have no problem posting my articles from my own blog onto article directories, but I usually wait at least a week before I do so, that way I have time for my own articles to be indexed and to appear as the original article source.

Once you are ready to start publishing, it is a good idea to go through and read some of the Ezine Articles to see what style are most popular and which topics seem to be as well.

You are not allowed to use affiliate links directly in your Ezine articles, so instead you need to set up a sub directory with 301 redirect to your affiliate link, if that is the way you are going to go.

Linking is also very closely monitored, you can not have links in the first 2/3rd’s of the article, so be conscience of that so that you can save yourself some frustration, there is also a limit on the number of links that are allowed.

Ezine Articles can be a very powerful tool to incorporate into your business, learning the ropes first and taking it slowly (so you don’t get banned) is important so that you can create unique content that will garner you some great responses to your links, in turn making you some money.
