Work At Home Offers – Know Which Ones ARE NOT Legit – Part 1

Even though the effects of the recession are slowly starting to taper off and employment is picking up again, a great deal of people are still interested in being their own boss and making money for themselves. This is a great thing and comes with a lot of advantages for those who take advantage of this opportunity. There are also a great many opportunities to take advantage of online when it comes to making money for yourself. However, not all of these can be profitable for you. In fact, some of them are outright scams that are designed to make money only for those who promote these “opportunities”. Here are some of them:

Envelope stuffing.

This is quite an old scam and has been around even during the years before the internet even came into existence. The company claims that you can make money by stuffing envelopes and mailing them. They say that you can make $10 to $30 per envelope that you stuff and mail. Now let’s stop and think logically here: a machine can do the same thing for mere pennies. Even if they can’t afford one, they can hire a worker for minimum wage who can stuff hundreds of envelopes each day. WHY would they pay YOU such a high amount just for folding a piece of paper? Well… you’ve guessed it: they won’t. They make money by having you pay for a “starter kit”. You will soon notice that they want you to promote the same “make money stuffing envelopes” spiel by sending envelopes with information about the “opportunity” to other victims. If someone signs up, you then get paid. This is actually quite close to a pyramid scheme and is illegal in many jurisdictions.

Product assembly.

Another one that has been around since before the internet. Often promoted by the same people who run the envelope stuffing scam. You are told that you will be paid to assemble items, such as toys and other trinkets at home. They offer you what looks like a really good payment for every item that you assemble. Now the problems start when you sign up. You are told that you must first order a “start up kit” which contains the materials to be assembled. This kit can cost well over a hundred dollars, but the materials that it contains are probably worth a few dollars at most. You can assemble and send back as many products as you want, but they will always tell you that they weren’t done correctly and thus they can’t pay you.

Data entry / “online typist” jobs.

Here, you will be told that you can make from $10 to $50 to type in a short 3 line ad on a website. Alarm bells should be going off in your head now. Why would someone pay you that much for what is basically 2 minutes of work? After signing up and paying a fee (of course), you will soon realize that what you will need to do is to enter ads on online pay per click advertising services such as Google Adwords which promote the same website that you just signed up for. You get paid only when someone clicks on the ads you typed and signs up for their site. The issue is, YOU will have to pay for each click that you receive. And not everyone who clicks on your ads will sign up. If you have no experience in pay per click marketing, you will probably end up just losing your money.

An Overview Of Some “Make Money Online” Ads You Will Come Across – Part 2

An Overview Of Some “Make Money Online” Ads You Will Come Across – Part 2

MLM / Multi Level Marketing

These offers are often touted as a great way to own your own business and be your own boss. Very often, the advertisements that you will find for these type of opportunities will be worded vaguely and appear to be quite generic, rarely going into detail as to what exactly this “business opportunity” will consist of. In a nutshell, MLM consists of becoming an “independent distributor” for a company where you will resell their products at a commission. You will also need to recruit more independent reps into the business, for which you will also earn money.

This isn’t to say that the whole industry is bad or that it is not possible to earn money in it. Indeed, there are many people who have been quite successful in it. However, in many of these opportunities the sales pitch to get you to join will be quite misleading and only present the positive aspects of the business. While it is often touted as being something “easy”, in reality you will have to do a lot of work to achieve success. Depending on the program, you will also need to pay in order to join or to buy merchandise, the costs of which could end up quite significant. If you decide to pursue such as opportunity, be sure that you do some independent research on what the company is, what products are they pushing, what their compensation plan is and what the general rules are. Unfortunately, many people don’t do this and are thus out of the fee they paid to join and stuck with boxes full of useless, overpriced merchandise that is hard to sell. They then realize that the only way to recoup their losses is to dupe other people into joining the business.

Forex Trading

While retail Forex trading has been around for many years, it has just recently seen a surge in popularity and is often advertised as a way to make money on the internet. You see ads touting that you can make $1000 a day or more just by trading foreign currencies online. If you are a beginner and have zero experience in the foreign exchange market, you will be in for a very rough ride indeed. The whole point of Forex is to take profit from the fluctuations in the value of foreign currency pairs that occur each day. You will of course, you need money to invest. The problem is, most people who sign up for these sites and play the market end up losing money rather than making the large amounts that are claimed in the ads.

If playing the foreign exchange markets interests you, start by reading as much independent information as you can. Then, open a practice account and trade with play money until you are confident enough to risk real funds. Remember that in addition to the opportunity to earn money, you will have plenty more “opportunities” to lose some if the markets don’t move your way.

Some Ideas On What to Do Online – Providing Services

Some Ideas On What to Do Online – Providing Services

In the online world, there are a lot of different ways to earn some cash. So if you are seeking to start an online business, you will find that there are many opportunities which await you. And since you are effectively your own boss, your earning potential is actually unlimited. So whether you are trying to build a six figure income or just get a few dollars a day in revenue, there will always be something to do on the internet.

Providing services

We had previously talked about using affiliate offers and CPA programs to earn some cash online. Of course, these are fine ways to earn money, but they do come at a certain disadvantage. It is mostly the delay before you get paid. Many affiliate programs pay on a NET 30 basis, meaning that you get paid 30 days after the end of the month. But there is something that you can do in addition to, or instead of using affiliate or CPA programs. You can provide your services to those who do.

To put it simply, those who sell or promote products online need to spend a lot of time and resources on their marketing work. This includes setting up web pages, putting up advertisements, writing content, designing good templates and graphics for their site, etc. Those who are making the big bucks out there seldom do all of this work by themselves: they hire external consultants to do it for them. This is where you could come in.

There are many examples of services that you could provide to those who are either selling their own products or running affiliate offers, for example:

  • Reselling web hosting services
  • Building backlinks
  • Designing web pages
  • Writing sales copies
  • Posting ads on classifieds ads sites or business directories
  • Driving traffic to websites through various means
  • Doing SEO work to improve someone’s web site rankings
  • Creating advertising campaigns on social media
  • Creating, editing and uploading promotional videos
  • Etc

These are just some of the examples of what you can do for other marketers. Now how much will you earn? This will largely depend on what you are doing, and how skilled you are at it. So this is where you will put your online skills to the task. For example, if you are good with Photoshop, you could go into creating web page graphics. If you are skilled at creating videos and animations, someone could use you to create a promotional video for their product.

There are many places where you can find work, but the best place to go to would be an internet marketing forum, like the Warrior Forum or Digital Point. There you will find a section where members can offers to buy or sell various types of services. As your reputation increases, you will soon start getting a lot more customers as well.

Are You Ready For Your Own Home Based Business?

Are You Ready For Your Own Home Based Business?

Many would like to believe that setting up a home based business is easy and requires little preparation on your part. In reality, this is not entirely true. There are a few things that you first need to get in order before you start any type of online or home based business, and also some facts about the industry that you need to be aware of.

Set up your work space the right way.

First, you need to prepare the space where you would be working. If you live alone in a 1 bedroom apartment, this wont take much from you. But if you have kids, a dog and a host of other distractions, you need set up a dedicated workspace where you can work without being distracted. Remember that distractions while working will cause lost productivity.

Plan your schedule accordingly.

While ads for online business products will often tell you things like “work anytime you want, anywhere you want”, you still need to be well organized. Plan ahead and determine during which hours of the day you will be working, and what you will be working on during that time. Not having a schedule will often result in running out of time to do the work that you have to do during the day, and then having to play catch-up tomorrow.

Know that you will be responsible for all of your decisions.

If you own a home based business an work for yourself, you have the advantage of making your own decisions at all times and not having a boss breathe down your neck. While, of course, this is a positive thing, it also means that you have a lot more responsibility. You can’t blame coworkers, team members or superiors in case something goes wrong, because you don’t have any. This is why you always need to be aware of the consequences that your decisions will have on your business, both immediately and further down the road.

Make sure that you are financially prepared.

While certain types of online businesses can be started with little or no money, in most cases you would need to invest a bit in things such as web hosting, domain names, advertisements, etc. Furthermore, the amount of money that you make could vary from month to month depending on how well you are doing. Unlike a “regular” job, there is no guarantee that you would make a specific amount of income every month. You could also end up making no money whatsoever during certain periods. You should prepare yourself for these circumstances and always have a backup plan should something go wrong with your current business model. For example, if you are reselling goods on eBay, your main supplier could go out of business and leave you nothing to sell. If you had maintained adequate inventory in stock at all times, or several backup suppliers for your merchandise, this wouldn’t affect you as much.

Quit Your Job – Start Your Online Business

Quit Your Job – Start Your Online Business

Quitting your job can be one of the most rejuvenating experiences in your life. I personally quit my job at the end of May to do the work that I do online, full time, and to try my hand at it while I still had the freedom to do so.

Quitting your job isn’t something that you should do on an impulse, however. You should calculate it out, talk with family, friends, and then determine what is best for you in the long run. Some people aren’t cut out to be their own boss, the independence and the pressure of gathering clients, and making money can be too much to bare for some people. Those people are better off staying to work for someone else, until they are comfortable holding their entire life in their hands (financially).

It is very difficult to make your first livable wage online, I am not going to lie. I am in the situation where I have some room to breathe as I am still a student in university. IT is a whole different ballgame when you have a family to feed, bills to pay, and a home to provide for.

The first thing you need to do is to start slowly. Start working 1 hour per day after (or preferably before) work each day. Take that time to get started in what you want to do. If you want to be a copywriter start trying to get some small paying jobs and bring in $10-20 per hour for that hour you are working. If you make $10 per day for 6 days a week, that is $240 per month, or an additional $2880 per year. Now you can see where things are going. That is a vacation for the family for a week (or two) or almost a car payment for a new (used car).

Once you start getting into your business a little more you can start to transition. I wouldn’t recommend quitting your job unless you can make 65% of your normal income out of the gate the day after you quit your job. Especially if you need to support a family.

By taking things slow, you have a better chance of making errors early (when you are still employed) rather than making them when it could be a big deal for you or your family. Start out working 7-10 per week on your internet business and then take it from there, good luck!
